Android-powered sex toys seek funding

The Lovense Long Distance Love Toys seek to connect distant lovers, but needs your donations

We’ve all been there. Your partner lives across the country, and something just doesn’t feel…right. Sometimes talking on the phone just doesn’t do the trick. That’s where the Lovense Sex Toys come in to play.

Dubbed as “The world’s first sex toy that can be bi-directionally controlled over the Internet”, the pair of toys is there to fill that empty void.

These new toys are connected via Bluetooth on Android 2.3 or above as well as iOS. Also, it needs an Internet connection – 3G, Wi-Fi, etc.

Max, the men’s toy, and Nora, the girl’s, are connected so that the movements of one mirror the movements of the other, making it a more realistic experience. Here is a video that outlines exactly how the products work.

You’re able to connect no matter how far you are apart from each other. Also, in the Lovense app, you’re able to video chat with your partner when your toys are connected, adding to the real-life experience.

Lovense1

This is Max and Nora, a dynamic duo of devoted dynamics.

Remember, this is an Indiegogo campaign, so it needs your donations if you want these to become a reality. As of today, they have raised $13,000, which is 27% of their $50,000 goal.

If you get the complete package for $179, you’ll receive a Max and a Nora (before Valentine’s Day!) You can also opt-in for either Max or Nora, or get two of each. If you’d like to make your donation, do so before the Indiegogo campaign is finished on January 12th, 2014.

To be honest, this is a really cool project. I wouldn’t doubt if this one reached its goal, and then some. Do you have any thoughts/opinions/concerns about this product? Feel free to comment below!

LG’s 105-inch, 21:9 curved UHD TV is wide enough to be a tanning bed

LG already has a big 77-inch curved Ultra HD OLED TV, but why stop there? The Korean company has just announced that it will be unveiling a 105-inch version at CES next month, but with a twist: this one uses LCD instead of the more expensive OLED, courtesy of improved TFT technology for an even backlighting across the curved surface. Furthermore, this 105UB9 model has a wider-than-usual 21:9 “CinemaScope” aspect ratio, thus providing a 5,120 x 2,160 UHD resolution (but technically not 5K). While we likely won’t find out about the pricing of this monstrosity until CES, this milestone for LG Display’s LCD technology could signify a wave of more affordable curved TVs next year — much like what Sony’s attempting with its S990A. Stay tuned for our eyes-on report once we hit the show floor.

Yahoo has their Very Own Voice Assistant App…or Do They? [Video]

yahoo-voiceassistant-app

It was only a matter of time before Yahoo was going to break into the voice assistant game. With Apple’s Siri, and Google’s Google Now, Yahoo needed something to level up with. Well a new video of what seems to be a Yahoo voice assistant app being demonstrated surfaced this morning, but now we are getting word that it might not be real.

Yahoo acquired SkyPhrase, which was a natural language startup not too long ago. So it was obvious that they were planning on creating a voice assistant app for people to utilize, but no one really knew the status on that. The video below shows off this supposed Yahoo voice app, but after further investigation from sites like TechCrunch, it seems that the video is false. TechCrunch apparently has a source from Yahoo, and they are stating that this is not a Yahoo product.

So at this point, no one really knows what to make of the video. It looks like a pretty decent voice assistant app, and Yahoo is most likely in the process of developing it. Once we find out more about it we will let you know.

Google Play Music source code suggests browser uploads coming soon

Right now if you want to upload your stash of tunes to Google Play Music, you have to download Music Manager, an application that hooks into your computer’s hard drive so that you can transfer selected audio files to Mountain View’s storage cloud. But what if you don’t want to download yet another piece of software on your already bursting hard drive, or you just want to upload a few songs from a friend’s computer without having to get the app? Well, according to an eagle-eyed tipster of the unofficial Google system blog, you might be able to upload songs directly from the browser in the not-too-distant future. The source code in Google Play Music apparently suggests this via a dialog description text that reads “Drag songs or folders here to add music to your library. Or, if you prefer, select from your computer.” While we’re not sure if Google will actually implement browser uploads for its Music service, the line of code indicates the search giant is at least considering the idea. If you’re a regular Google Play Music user, sound out in the comments below if this would be a welcome feature.

Flickr’s redesign continues with a new style for embedding pics on other websites

The new look of Flickr is ready to surface in other spots on the web, now that Yahoo’s photo site has rolled out a new style for embedded photos. Enabled by default if you’re using the preview UI, the new embed code pulls in extra data like title and the owner’s username as an overlay, plus interaction so viewers can scroll through more photos easily (an actual embed follows after the break). Also key for Flickr and its users, it can measure the reach and viewing statistics for its photos when they’re used elsewhere. Probably most important, the new style compares well with other social networking / media posting services like Instagram and Google+, although some users are already complaining about having Flickr’s watermark slapped on their photos. For now, the old embeds are still available, but we’ll see if that changes when the site’s preview experience becomes the default style.

Humble Bundle PC And Android 8 Available With Debut Games And Other Great Indie Ports

humble bundle pc and android 8Humble Bundle does it again, this time with the Humble Bundle PC and Android 8. This newest addition to the Humble Bundle family features 6 great indie games, available on PC and Android, most of which started off as acclaimed PC indie games. Of particular note are debut Android games Gemini Rue (which we mentioned earlier today) and AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome.

As with previous Humble Bundles, you must pay over the average Bundle amount to get all 6 games; paying under the average will only net you 4 of the games. But with the current average price sitting at $4.13, it’s not even $0.99 for each of these fantastic games. And if you’re not into buying games for the games’ sake, Humble Bundle also allows you to split your contribution between the developers and some charities that they support; the choice is up to you. Check out the trailer below to see what all 6 games look like:

I personally jumped on this Bundle as soon as it went live as I’ve heard lots of good things about all these games on PC. As with most indie games, they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is a fantastically good price for 6 Android games, which you can also play on your PC.

Are you going to get the Humble Bundle PC and Android 8? Let us know if you pick it up and how you find it.

T-Mobile UnCarrier 4.0 on the Horizon, What’s Next from John Legere

Since John Legre has come to the T-Mobile party, things have been pretty shaken up and, might I add, pretty awesome. He has started a few battles with the competition, changed the game and forced other carriers to rethink things a little. It is great for the consumer. Obviously bending the traditional thoughts and rules of how a carrier in the US should work is a great thing for both sides. It has been a great year for customers and T-Mobile as a company. However, the year isn’t over yet. A tweet from the take charge no filter John Legere is letting us all know the T-Mobile Uncarrier 4 is about to commence.

So what could John have up his sleeves? Good question. He hashtags AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson in his little tweet and makes it obvious that it will be something that pains customers. Would be great it if they moved to have all devices unlocked at purchase. That is my own personal wishful thinking. Any guesses, or insider secret viewers, care to take a stab? General consensus floating around is $0 EIP on all devices.  We will keep our eyes peeled and let you know what pops up.

Google Play Movies Now Available In 13 More Regions

google play moviesGoogle Play Movies has never been as big a part of the Google ecosystem to me as say Google Play Books, but there are still plenty of regions that still don’t even have access to the app. Well, that list has just gotten a little bit shorter with Google pushing their movies app to 13 more regions.

The lucky regions in question are:

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Belize
  • Botswana
  • Fiji
  • Hong Kong
  • Jamaica
  • Nepal
  • New Zealand
  • Papua New Guinea
  • Sri Lanka
  • Tanzania
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Zimbabwe

All of these regions can now rent and buy movies from Google’s immense library of films, however, as with restrictions on the app itself, TV shows and streaming are not available outside of the States, the U.K. and Japan.

Who actually uses Google Play Movies a lot? We’d love to hear from you and hear your experiences with the app and how it fits in with your use of Android.
