Sprint announces 70 new LTE markets; ends year with 300 cities

by John_A

Sprint on Monday announced that there are 70 new markets with the carrier’s 4G LTE network. Having crossed the 300 city mark, the coverage doesn’t so much as expand as it does fill in holes. Notably, San Diego, St. Louis, and Green Bay are among the bigger markets getting quicker data speeds.

For reasons unknown, Sprint seems to be avoiding Ohio like the plague; only Salem (population 12,000) has access to the 4G LTE network.

Looking ahead to the next few years, Sprint anticipates its new Spark 4G LTE will roll out to 100 markets within three years. As of today it is only offered in five markets; few devices are compatible with the network.
