Samsung Wave 575 (GT-S5750) with Bada OS announced
Only several days after officially presenting the Wave II S8530, today Samsung has unveiled yet another new Bada smartphone, the Samsung Wave 575 (GT-S5750).
Like the Wave 525 and 533 (also announced today – re-announced, actually), the Wave 575 features a 3.2 inch WQVGA TFT touchscreen display, TouchWiz UI, Wi-Fi, 3.2MP camera, 100MB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support.
The new Wave also comes with HSDPA connectivity (a feature that can’t be found in the 525 and 533 models).
Samsung Wave 575 will be first launched in Sweden (in mid-November). After that, the phone will be introduced in other markets across Europe and Asia (including China), in three color versions: white, black and black/pink. The handset’s price has not been disclosed.
Samsung Galaxy i5510
Samsung Galaxy 551 (I5510) that was first revealed at the IFA has got the official unveiling. The phone runs on Android 2.2 OS and features a physical sliding QWERTY keyboard for business users and social network users.
It features a 667MHz CPU, 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen TFT display (240×400 pixels), TouchWiz 3.0 UI, HSDPA 7.2Mbps, 3MP camera, Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio, Social Hub, DivX support, 160MB internal memory, microSD card slot and 1200mAh battery
HTC Desire HD vs Samsung Galaxy S
HTC has been leading the way for a couple of years now when it comes to Android smartphones, and it’s just upped the ante once more by unveiling the long-rumoured Desire HD, along with a 4.3-inch touchsreen and HD video recording. Meanwhile, Samsung has been gunning for a slice of the Android phone market with its usual tenacity, but can the Samsung Galaxy S compete with HTC’s new weapon of choice?
Form Factor
- Galaxy s 122 x 64 x 9.9mm; 118g
- HTC Desire HD : 123 x 68 x 11.8 mm, 164g
The Galaxy S is not only shorter and slimmer than the Desire HD, it’s also a great deal lighter. Although its lightweight design won’t put too much pressure on your pockets, is does mean that it doesn’t really have the feel of a premium phone. However, thanks to it’s sheer portability it beats the HTC in this round. Read more
Samsung Wave II S8530 with Super Clear LCD
Samsung has just announced its fifth Bada OS-based smartphone, the Wave II S8530 (not to be confounded with the Wave 2 S5250).
Coming to replace the Wave S8500, the Wave II looks almost the same, but it’s bigger and has a larger display (3.7 inches, WVGA).
Unlike the first Wave, which has a Super AMOLED screen, the new handset features a Super Clear LCD screen – which can only mean that Samsung does have AMOLED production problems, as rumored last week.
Apart from the bigger and different display, the Wave II S8530 features TouchWiz UI 3.0, HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 3.0, access to Samsung Apps (which currently hosts more than 1000 applications), TV-out, 5MP autofocus camera with flash, HD (720p) video recording, 1GHz processor, and MicroSD card support up to 32GB.
Samsung Galaxy Tab on sale on November 1
Need some hot new hardware to offset the onset of another miserly winter? Samsung wants the Galaxy Tab to be the thing that keeps you warm and fuzzy over the holidays and has just announced a November 1 launch date for its tablet in the United Kingdom. All major carriers are signed up to offer the Android 2.2 device and usual suspect Carphone Warehouse will also be dishing it out if you have the cash to snap one up. How much cash, you ask? That’s the one important piece of information that Samsung is still leaving to hang in the air, proffering only the contention that it “will be available on a range of attractive price packages.” Never mind, we’ll just let our imaginations do the accounting.

10-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab coming in 2011?
This one has been grinding around the Samsung rumour mill for a while, but on Saturday Sammy apparently let slip that we can expect a bigger, 10″ version of its upcoming Galaxy Tab some time in the first half of 2011.
Samsung announced earlier this month that it had plans to release a whole host of different sized tablets in the coming months, with head of global sales and marketing, DJ Lee, saying: “people have different desires, so we are definitely going to have different sizes of tablets.”
Samsung also confirmed that they will be releasing tablets in different price ranges, with the current pre-order price for the 7″ Galaxy Tab hovering at around £600.
The new 10″ Galaxy Tab will be released in the Gingerbread (or Android 3.0, to non-Androiders) era of first-half 2011, so smart money’s on it running the updated OS, rather than the current 7″ Galaxy’s Android 2.2 Froyo.
The current incarnation of the Galaxy Tab (the 7″ version) is available for pre-order ahead of its release this November, boasting a Super TFT screen, front and back-facing cameras and the ability to make calls and send texts.
