RadioShack offering $50 discount for in-store Galaxy S5 pre-orders

With the Samsung Galaxy S5 going on pre-order today, RadioShack is offering a $50 discount when you order the device before its release.

Specific carrier information as to what the pre-order is offering hasn’t been specified, but since every carrier has confirmed they will have the Galaxy S5, it’s pretty certain you can have the pick of the bunch.

Devices pre-ordered through RadioShack will be available for pick-up in store starting mid-April and are subject to stock availability.

If the $50 saving wasn’t enough, RadioShack customers can also save $75 to $300 on a Samsung Galaxy S5 when you trade in a select working smartphone through their Trade & Save program.

T-Mobile circles March 24 for Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders

T-Mobile on Thursday announced that preorders begin for the Samsung Galaxy S5 on March 24. Keeping with its tradition of attracting customers, the Uncarrier will offer the flagship device at zero down and payments equally spread over 24 months.

As for that cost, the $27.50/mo equates to $660, or about what everyone else is doing. The chief difference here is that T-Mobile will not lock you into a service contract and you can cancel service whenever you’d like. You’ll have to pay off the remaining balance, of course, but you get the gist. Don’t forget that you can also break your existing carrier’s contract and bring your family plan to T-Mobile. Do so and the magenta ones will pay off your early termination fees.

“This thing is so hot we’ve already seen over a half a million pre-registrations for the Galaxy S 5,” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile.  ”That’s a lot of very smart people grabbing this opportunity to pay nothing down, save more than a grand over the life of the other guys’ contracts, and have T-Mobile pay off every penny of their family’s early termination fees. It’s a brilliant move.”

On March 31 T-Mobile will offer the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 with a limited discount of $120 off the normal price. As is the case with other tablets purchased through T-Mobile, you’ll get 200MB of free data for the life of the device. Note that this promotion is available while supplies last.

T-Mobile to offer the Samsung Galaxy S5 for no money down, pre-orders begin March 24th

T-Mobile to offer the Samsung Galaxy S5 for no money down, pre-orders begin March 24th

Looks like the embargo is officially up on Samsung Galaxy S5 pricing. After AT&T revealed earlier today that it’ll sell the new flagship phone for $200 on-contract, T-Mobile chimed in to say it will offer the device for no money down, with pre-orders beginning next week, on March 24th. Of course, anyone who knows anything about T-Mobile’s UnCarrier pricing plans knows that hardly means “free” — it means you’re committing yourself to 24 subsequent monthly payments. So, if you’re already sweet on the GS5′s Band-Aid-like stylings, and know you prefer T-Mo, you’ll want to sign up first thing on Monday.

Samsung’s new Ultra HD TVs arrive soon with (or without) curves for $2,500 and up

We got our first peek at Samsung’s latest high-end HDTVs — including the new curved shape that it says creates a larger viewing “sweet spot” — at CES back in January, and now they’re just about ready to come home. Of course the new shape isn’t all there is to offer, and while Samsung isn’t joining LG in pushing any new OLED TVs, it is expanding its lineup of Ultra HD screens and bringing more 4K content to watch thanks to a new deal with Fox. There’s also upgraded Smart Hub software with multitasking to pull in streaming video and live TV all at once, new quad-core CPUs to boot it all up in just 1.8 seconds, and a simpler pebble shaped remote for control. That massive 105-inch Ultra HD TV we were drooling over is still penciled in to launch during the second half of this year, but if you’re looking for a more modest upgrade, then we have new details on price and release for most of the other models (LCD only, no word on plasma).

All of Samsung’s new top of the line 9000 series TVs are both Ultra HD and curved, and start shipping this month. Unlike some of the curved TVs we’ve seen before these can be wall mounted, and of course come with a ton of buzzwordy tech to improve picture quality. The 55- and 65-inch versions will hit first with $4,000 and $5,000 sticker prices, respectively, followed by a 78-inch version later this year for $8,000. There will be a step down 8700 series arriving later in the spring with the same shape but missing a few features (price is TBD), but if you want a high-res display and an old-school flat HDTV experience, the 8550 series is the one. 55- and 65-inch versions launch this month for $3,000 and $4,000, but it will be a couple of months before the 50- ($2,500), 60- ($3,500) and 75-inch ($6,000) options join them.

Still impressed by 1080p? Samsung has HDTVs without the U ready and waiting, with a new H8000 series (curved) and H7150 series (flat). A 48-inch curved 1080p HDTV will ship in May for $2,000, while 55- ($2,500) and 65-inch ($3,400) versions are coming too.The H7150 brings the HD that you’re used to in a shape that’s familiar, along with all the multitasking and picture quality features Samsung can muster. 55-, 65- and 75-inch versions will all arrive this spring for between $1,900 and $4,000.

Of course, if you opt for one of the Ultra HD TVs, you’ll probably be looking for stuff to watch. Samsung will stream or download 4K video in apps from Netflix, Amazon, M-GO, Comcast and DirecTV, but for the highest quality you’ll probably need its UHD video pack. Basically a 1TB storage device stuffed with movies, it’s $300 and includes Night at the Museum, The Counselor, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and World War Z, plus three documentaries. Samsung plans at least one more pack for release this year, and says it’s working with Fox to pioneer a “sustainable UHD content distribution ecosystem.” We talked to Fox’s Mike Dunn during CES about an extension to the Blu-ray format that could handle higher res video and other features, but so far there’s nothing new to report there. Samsung also has a new BD-H6500 Ultra HD upconverting Blu-ray player for $180 along with a few sound bars and sound stands — we’ll get our second chance at a first impression today, so check back for a few hands-on pics.

The Galaxy S5, along with Samsung’s wearable lineup, heads to AT&T

A whole lot of Samsung is about to come to AT&T. Today, the carrier announced that pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S5 will begin tomorrow both online and in stores, with shipping to start in early April. Pricing is set at $200 with a two-year contract, though it’s also available for a monthly fee with AT&T’s Next plans. (US Cellular customers, incidentally, will also be able to pre-order the GS 5 tomorrow for $200 on-contract.)

And that’s not all: tomorrow, AT&T will also put Samsung’s trio of wearables up for pre-order. This includes the $299 Samsung Gear 2, the $199 Gear 2 Neo and the $199 Gear Fit. Shipping for those devices will also begin in early April.

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear Fit Pricing Revealed

Pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Fit have finally been released by Samsung. You can expect to see the Galaxy Gear 2 landing for $295 and the Gear Fit to pull $197 from your bank account. Samsung has yet to release pricing info for the other watch, the Galaxy Gear Neo, but is expected to be smack in the middle at $250. Both the Gear 2 and Gear Fit are scheduled for a global launch on April 11th.

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Gear 2 Neo Gear Fit PricingI am not too terribly surprised at either devices price points. The original Galaxy Gear launched at $300, so it would make sense that its predecessor would launch near the same price. The real question though will be how well the follow up devices will sell. While I find them ‘cool’ the more recent announcement of the Android Wear OS is certainly going to make wearables a bit more interesting. Google did announce that Samsung was one of their partners with the new OS and we fully expect a smartwatch of some sorts to be announced by them. However, I doubt they will make any such announcement until after the three more recent devices have had a chance to make some profits.

Does the pricing of the Gear 2 and Gear Fit temp you to hold on to some cash for April, or are you going to sit this one out and wait for the Moto 360 this summer?
