Another render of the Samsung Galaxy F in glowing gold leaks out, definitely not the Galaxy S5 LTE-A
When the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A was announced earlier this week, many people said that this was the Galaxy F or Galaxy S5 Prime that we had been waiting for, however we were very adamant that this wasn’t the case. Sure enough, another leak from king of leaks, @evleaks, has seemingly put a nail in the coffin of that argument. The leak comes in the form of another press render of the Samsung Galaxy F in glowing gold; @evleaks says this shade actually differs from the other gold version of the Galaxy F we have previously seen, but we only have a front-on view for this leak so we can’t compare the back covers.
What’s interesting is that the date on the screen of the device is yet again “Wed, 12 September”. While this may mean nothing, as a very early render had another date, this is the second render that we have seen with this specific date, and we have already heard rumours that the Galaxy F might be releasing in September. If this is true, then September is going to be a very busy month for Samsung as it is also expected to be releasing their follow up in the Galaxy Note line of devices, the Galaxy Note 4.
So it looks like the Samsung Galaxy F is still on its way; what do you think about these rumours? Are you interested in getting the Galaxy F if it ever releases? Let us know what you think in the comments.

CNET: Samsung, Motorola and LG will launch Android Wear watches next week
Next week is Google’s big developer conference, and according to a rumor from CNET, Samsung will be at center stage with a smartwatch running Android Wear. The usual unnamed people in the know suggest Samsung’s watch could even be a giveaway for attendees. Motorola and LG are also named as launching devices, although whether that includes the G Watch we’ve seen so much of is unknown. Google’s video for developers gives a lot of hints at what the Android Wear experience will be like, but even with a number of smartwatches already on the market, we’re ready to see what hardware innovation is still possible. The other factor is Samsung’s internal decision between Android and its own OS, Tizen. It’s launched Tizen-based watches and phones, switched the original Galaxy Gear device to Tizen from Android, and prepared for TVs based on it.

Benchmarks reveal two versions of Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Samsung is prepping at least two versions of the Galaxy Note 4, both of which have been found on benchmark website AnTuTu. Not that we’d expect anything else –Samsung routinely releases handset variants– but we’re digging the specs for these two.
Reportedly, one model (SM-N910S) is expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor while the other (SM-910C) figures to pack a 64-bit Exynos chipset. Both figure to include 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and front-facing 3.6-megapixel shooter. Powered by Android 4.4.3 (for now), the display should also be 5.7-inches and offer 1440×2560 resolution.
We should look for Samsung to introduce the next-gen Galaxy Note 4 at IFA which kicks off in early September.

AnTuTu benchmark leaks supposed Samsung Galaxy Note 4 specs including Snapdragon 805
It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the AnTuTu benchmark database because you never know what will turn up. The latest discovery from the depths of the database is what appears to be benchmarks from two different variants of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4. With the release of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A earlier this week, we know that Samsung has Quad HD displays and the new Snapdragon 805 processor ready for use in its devices, and sure enough, at least one of these benchmarks come from a device with just that.
The other device also sports a Quad HD display, but instead has what will be Samsung’s new octacore Exynos 5433 processor; presumably, the different variants will be available in different regions and markets depending on the availability of LTE services. Along with those headlining specifications, the Note 4 looks like it will also have 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, will be running Android 4.4.3 (presumably at least Android 4.4.4 by release), and a 16MP rear camera paired with a 3.68MP front camera. The Note 4 is expected to make its annual appearance at IFA in September, however as with all leaks of this nature, it’s best taken with a grain of salt.
What do you think about these Samsung Galaxy Note 4 specs if they were real? Are you going to get the Note 4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Police say Apple’s anti-theft switches have dramatically reduced iPhone thefts
When mobile sales are booming, smartphone thefts are almost certain to rise. That’s something San Francisco and New York prosecutors George Gascón and Eric Schneiderman have been telling smartphone makers for over a year, but now they’re finally making some headway. After pressuring Apple to implement a “kill switch” inside its devices, the New York Times reports that police officers in London and San Francisco saw iPhone robberies in the cities fall by 24 percent and 38 percent respectively in the six months before and after the company implemented its Activation Lock feature inside iOS 7. Over in New York, robberies were down by 19 percent and those involving grand larcenies dropped 29 percent when the police compared data in the first five months of 2014 with the same period from 2013.
It’s clear to see those small changes are making a difference, and lawmakers have rightly commended smartphone makers for implementing tougher security measures. However, things will move forward significantly from July 2015, when all smartphones sold in the United States will come with an anti-theft tool set as standard. Apple and Samsung are on board, as are Google, HTC, Huawei, Microsoft (and Nokia), Motorola and the country’s biggest wireless carriers. It could save collective total of $2.5 billion a year in replacement costs and insurance fees, and some major headaches too.

Samsung Galaxy S5 gets a prime update for Korea

Samsung on Wednesday announced a new version of its Galaxy S5 flagship phone, unwrapping the Galaxy S5 LTE-A. Once known by the name of Galaxy S5 Prime, it’s the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor which boasts four 2.5GHz Krait 450 CPU cores as well as the Adreno 420 GPU. What’s more, this is also the first device of its kind to offer theoretical download speeds of 225Mbps.
Other specifications boosted in the Galaxy S5 LTE-A include a WQHD (2560×1440) Super AMOLED display and 3GB RAM. Internal storage is listed at 32GB with an option for microSD expansion (up to 128GB), however, much of the other hardware remains unchanged.
If all of this sounds great and has you hoping to pick up the new device you’ll want to temper that enthusiasm. Samsung has, for now, opted to keep this one exclusive to its Korean home market. It is expected that the phone will be offered as soon as June 19 in a variety of colors: Charcoal Black, Shimmer White, Electric Blue, Copper Gold, Sweet Pink, and Glam Red. Reportedly, the price will be 940,500 won (approximately $919 US).

Fleksy brings a predictive messaging app to the Gear 2 smartwatch
Fleksy’s already brought its intuitive touch keyboard to the Galaxy Gear, but now Samsung’s smartwatches all run Tizen, it needed an upgrade to operate on the phone maker’s own OS. That’s exactly what the company has done with the release of a new messaging app for the Gear 2 smartwatch, which delivers a diminutive yet fully-featured predictive keyboard capable of accessing your SMS conversations and contacts. As a dedicated messaging app, it also handles all of the heavy lifting, letting you send and receive messages directly from your wrist. In order to operate, the app syncs with your Samsung smartphone, which Fleksy says “integrates all information from both devices.” There’s no word on whether you’ll be able to load Fleksy Messenger on the original Gear, but it is now available as a free download from Samsung Apps. Hopefully an enterprising developer will port it over.
Get a bit more organized using a Terrain Home launcher [App of the Day]

There are a lot of launchers in the Android space that you can choose from. Some of the most popular ones are Nova, Smart Launcher, Aviate and Action Launcher. Each of these is unique in its own way, as is the one we’re going to talk about today, Terrain Home: Sidebar & Search.
Terrain Home comes from Samsung’s Accelerator division which is an innovation center. This launcher is somewhat unique and quite productive. When you launch it and get through the tutorial you’ll be greeted with the start screen that looks like any other Android launcher. There are 3 white icons on it that will probably catch your attention though, sidebar, search and apps. This is where Terrain Home gets different and kind of cool. You can click on each icon to launch a certain action or just swipe away to do it. If you swipe from left to right you’ll access the sidebar feature, the other way around will get you to an alphabetical list of your apps and if you swipe up you’ll get to search feature.
Sidebar is the most useful out of the bunch, in our opinion at least. It resembles Google Now when it comes to the design. You’ll find a bunch of white cards here which you can set up the way you want, from your favorite contacts and Facebook feed to weather and stock information. There are a lot of options you can fit here and that’s what makes it so useful.
Search feature is also rather useful, considering you can swipe up and search away whether you want to find something locally on your phone or online.
You can get Terrain Home from Google Play as we speak, although note that the launcher is still in beta so there might be some glitches along the way, although it worked rather well in our testing. This app is also geographically limited at the moment, so it might not be available on your location, but it seems that it has a rather wide range of availability even though there’s no precise information on this thus far.

Fleksy keyboard launches Messenger App for Samsung Gear 2 Smartwatch

One of our long-time favorite keyboards is making it’s way to the Gear 2.
Although many would say that a wristwatch is no place for a virtual keyboard, that doesn’t stop Fleksy, one of the most innovative Android keyboard companies to date. Today they’re announcing a new Messenger App that allows users to respond to text messages/emails/etc. directly from their wrist.
The biggest challenge when making a keyboard for a 1.5″ screen is the input quality. Anyone can sit there and try to type as much as they want, but not all keyboards have the prediction software to follow through.
Fleksy’s founder/COO, Ioannis Verdelis, explains,
While the keyboard race is heating up, Fleksy’s next generation technology is the first to actually make typing comfortable on all types of devices. We are redefining the use case for wearable tech, and the accuracy of Fleksy on a watch really has to be seen to be believed. We are also now firmly a multi-platform keyboard, having had presence on iOS since 2012, on Android since 2013, and now on Tizen too!
Though we personally have yet to try the new app, we’re confident in Fleksy’s prediction technology that it won’t be a total trainwreck. If you’d like to try out Fleksy for yourself, head over to the Play Store for your free trial. You’ll be glad you did!

The Fleksy app is the first keyboard to integrate with the Samsung Gear 2, allowing users to access previous conversation threads and contacts, receive SMS messages and reply to them straight from their wrist. The Fleksy app syncs with the user’s Smartphone, integrating all information from both devices—all using award-winning technology that makes typing on small devices a breeze.
Founder and COO of Fleksy, Ioannis Verdelis said: “We are excited to have worked with the support of the Samsung Gear team to bring an awesome new app to the Gear ecosystem and Tizen OS. The Fleksy Messenger App is available for free download today from Samsung Apps.
“It’s exciting to be expanding to devices like the Samsung Gear, and we’re confident that Fleksy will continue to grow as the leading keyboard for smart and connected devices.
