Motorola’s New Year’s resolution is to sell more smartphones, drops unlocked Moto X to $400

It’s no secret that Motorola’s flagship Moto X hasn’t been a tremendous hit with consumers, and with considerable inventory likely building up, it’s time to move some product. Google’s smartphone arm is kicking off the new year with some aggressive new pricing. The base configured Moto X will now run you $400 without a contract or carrier affiliation, while the much-anticipated wood flavor now commands a cool $500. Moto Maker pricing remains at $100 with a new AT&T, Sprint or Verizon contract, if a two-year agreement is how you like to roll.

Moto G coming soon to Verizon Wireless?

Motorola recently revealed the budget version of the Moto X, known as the Moto G. It’s a decent device and it was made available in November by Motorola it self, as it could be purchased from their official site. Now it seems Moto G will be launched by one of the largest US mobile phone network – Verizon Wireless. A Google+ user known as Josue Joseph, who apparently works at Best Buy, shared a picture of a Moto G in Verizon retail packaging.

verizonmotogAlso the guys says that “it looks like it is going for $100″ , however no words on the release date. So it seems that Best Buy is getting their shelves ready, and we might see the Verizon Moto G – without any contract – with in a matter of days.

Are you looking forward to grab one?

Pre-Paid Verizon Moto G packaging appears, just a $100??

The Motorola Moto G is an extremely attractive device. The price is set perfectly for consumers who want something that is nice, fast and affordable. Judging from what we have heard and seen from around the G+ universe, it is being received very well. It really is a big win for Motorola. With the device already being sold for a $179 base price, it is hard not to get one ‘just because,’  but what if it was less?

Verizon Moto G pre-paidA recent image has surfaced on G+ from Josue Joseph that shows a no contract prepaid packaged Moto G blister package stamped with Verizon. While we don’t have ‘official’ confirmation or announcement from Verizon, it is pretty clear that it is coming.  Josue notes that the price “looks like” just $100 off-contract. Making it even more attractive. If Verizon does pull down the Moto G off-contract for $100, we can see it flying off the shelves in a hurry. Heck, even I would be forced to get one ‘just because’ at that price.

Moto G India

Motorola took to Twitter and announced that the Moto G will be available in India at the beginning of January 2014. We knew that India and other countries would be seeing the Moto G eventually but this is the first confirming timeline as to when that will happen. No word on other countries and release dates as of yet. There is no word on pricing of the Moto G in India but Softpedia reports that it should be running Android 4.4 Kit-Kat, which is always a plus.  The Moto G has received great praise among the tech media for its affordability and cost. Moto G gets KitKat, improved camera features in the US

Given that Motorola’s budget-friendly Moto G launched just last month, you would have figured the mid-range smartphone would have packed some KitKat. Sadly, it did not, but Mountain View’s hardware arm began rolling out Android 4.4.2 to select owners today. If you purchased your Moto G from Amazon or on Motorola.com in the US, it’s time to snag that update. Devices sold through carriers and in other regions will get some love “soon.” The company’s also offering up the same camera update that hit Moto X devices last week, enabling tap to focus and expose, locked exposure for panoramas and support for additional languages. Those camera enhancements will also be making their way to Droid Mini, Maxx and Ultra.

Check Out the Moto X Interactive Print Ad [Video]

motorola-interactive-ad-moto-x

The boys over at Motorola has a new ad campaign in store for their Moto X, and it is sure to turn some heads. The video below shows off Motorola’s new interactive print ad, that will allow users to design their Moto X right there on the page. Yes, it sounds a little too futuristic, but Motorola seems to have achieve this feet.

The ad will show up in this January’s Wired Magazine issue. You will be able to turn to the page the ad is on, then chose a back color you want for the Moto X with numerous color options that will be placed on the bottom of the page. There are no specifics on how this interactive print works, but they do show a pull tab to get the whole process going.

Now even though this new ad will appear in January’s Wired issue, you might have to do some searching for it. Mashable reported that the ad will only appear in about a quarter of the magazines out there, most likely due to how expensive the ad is. So check it out in action below. Let us know what you think about it.
