Verizon pushing Eye Experience update to its HTC One (M8) on Wednesday
Either the hardware manufacturers are getting things right or the carriers are easing up on the testing phase. Tomorrow, owners of the HTC One (M8) on Verizon will be getting a software update. The update includes the new Eye Experience that was announced alongside the Desire Eye and RE Camera. HTC expects the over-the-air (OTA) update to arrive around noon on Wednesday.
Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of Product Management, tweeted the news on Tuesday:
HTC One (M8) Verizon owners! We have technical approval on Eye SW! OTA target for tomorrow at noon! #HTCAdvantage

T-Mobile’s HTC One (M8) now receiving Eye Experience update
If you own a T-Mobile-branded HTC One (M8) you may want to listen up as the operator is now rolling out the much-anticipated Eye Experience camera user interface update to all variants of the smartphone currently located in the United States.

To initiate the upgrade manually, make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network. Then, from the home screen, press the Menu key, followed by Settings. Scroll to the bottom and tap ‘About Device’, followed by ‘Software Update and ‘Update Now’.

EYE Experience for HTC One (M8) on T-Mobile to start rolling out tomorrow
When HTC announced their new EYE Experience, a bundle of improvements to their camera features, they indicated a variety of devices would receive the update over the coming months. Owners of the unlocked version of the HTC One (M8) were probably glad to see they were near the top of the line when the update started rolling out last week along with an update to Android 4.4.4. Now owners of the device on the T-Mobile network will be joining in on the fun as the carrier has given their technical approval for the update.
Users can expect to see an OTA update appear on their devices starting as soon as Tuesday, October 21st. This was announced by Mo Versi, HTC’s vice president for Product Management, via a tweet earlier today.

HTC’s Android 5.0 update roadmap leaks
HTC has already confirmed that they’re planning on getting the Android 5.0 update out to the HTC One M7 and M8 within 90 days of receiving the code from Google. However, they haven’t clarified anything about other devices, but fortunately a leaked roadmap has shed some light on what devices will receive the update, and when that will happen.
The M7 and M8 are still slated for what will probably be a January/February release. The Google Play Editions of those devices are probably going to see an update much earlier, though, with a release date pegged for late November or early December.
Other devices, including the dual-SIM versions of the M7 and M8, plus the Desire Eye, Butterfly 2, and the HTC One E8 are all looking at launch windows of January to March. The HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816 are slated for a March/April update, and the One Max, original One Mini, and the Butterfly S are all looking at a March to May timeframe.
HTC is pretty committed to getting their devices updated, but there are tons of variables that go into these updates, so there’s no 100% guarantee that any of these devices will actually get the update. Still, HTC has done a much better job than most OEMs, so keep an ear out for any more details as we get closer to next year.

Here’s every device getting Android 5.0 Lollipop so far
If you’re a die-hard Android fan, you’re probably champing at the bit waiting for that Lollipop upgrade — when will you get it? Are you going to get it? Thankfully for you, a number of companies have already promised to upgrade some of their devices to this candy-flavored OS. Google’s Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 models are naturally first in line, as are Android One and Google Play Edition hardware; its outgoing Motorola brand is equally on top of things with plans to patch the Moto E, G and X alongside Verizon’s Droid Mini, Maxx and Ultra. HTC and OnePlus don’t have full details, but they’re both pledging to give their recent flagships a taste of Lollipop within 90 days of receiving finished code. NVIDIA and Sony, meanwhile, are being vague. While they’re respectively teasing plans to update the Shield Tablet and the Xperia Z series, they won’t say when just yet.
As for other manufacturers? Well, don’t hold your breath. LG tells TechRadar that it has nothing to say on “if / when” Lollipop will reach the G3, let alone older gear. The upgrade is likely coming, but the statement is far from reassuring. Mum’s the word from Samsung as well, although leaks show that a Lollipopped version of TouchWiz is in the works. It’s also reasonable to expect that relatively large brands like Acer, ASUS, Huawei and Xiaomi are on deck — just don’t be shocked if their older devices don’t make the cut.

India gets the HTC One (M8 Eye), Desire Eye, RE Camera, and a few more devices
The latest round of devices from HTC have all made their way to a new region. The One (M8) Eye, Desire Eye, and RE Camera are all available in India. The price for the One (M8) Eye and RE Camera converts to about $634 and $162, respectively. Pricing for the Desire Eye has yet to be announced.

In addition the the Eye devices, India is getting more handsets that belong to the Desire line. The Desire 820, 820q, and Desire 516C are all heading to India as well.
The Desire 820 and Desire 820q are pretty much the same device except for the processors used. Both have 5.5-inch displays with 720p resolution, 13/8MP cameras, and 2600mAh batteries. The Desire 820 has a Snapdragon 615 proccessor with 2GB of RAM. The Desire 820q, though, has the Snapdragon 410 with 1GB of RAM based on 64-bit architecture.
Finally, the Desire 516C is a low-end device with a 5-inch display with qHD resolution. Inside is a Snapdragon 200 paired with 1GB of RAM. Internal storage is 4GB with a microSD card slot. The front camera is VGA and the back is 5MP. The battery is 1950mAh and the handset has dual-SIM support.

HTC Nexus 9 Keyboard Folio and Cover coming soon
There are two particular accessory items for the HTC Nexus 9 that are of particular interest. The first is the Keyboard Folio. As the name would suggest, this is a folio style case that offers a built-in Bluetooth enabled keyboard for use with your Nexus 9. It will be offered in a Black Leather color and is designed specifically for the tablet. It will offer you two screen angle options, one being more upright like a laptop, and one slightly elevated at an angle for better viewing when you are more elevated above the set up. The Keyboard Folio isn’t available to order just yet, but when it does go up it will set you back $129.
The second, and probably the more interesting of the bunch, is the origami inspired cover. The cover will connected via magnets to your Nexus 9 and offer you peace of mind when it comes to protecting your screen. It is really interesting because the cover is just one piece. You don’t get two, if you want to protect the front and back with one, you will need to buy a set. However, most people are more worried about the screen when sticking their devices in bags and purses. Since the cover is magnetic and removable easily, you can quickly move it from the screen to the rear of the tablet. This is where all the magic happens. When it is placed flat on the rear you have a quick flip to access just the camera lens without having to remove the cover entirely.
The cover takes its design somewhat from origami art and while you might see a flat cover for your tablet, you might also see some of the bendable aspects that give it more than one use.
Again, the Nexus 9 Cover isn’t quite ready for people to throw money at it just yet. When it does go on sale though you will have a few color choices: Mint Indigo, Coral Amethyst, Lime Stone and Black. The more colorful of the options give you one color on each side. Amazon UK reveals Nexus 9 prices to start from £319
Google may have finally made its latest Nexus devices official, but it’s kept UK pricing for the Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player under wraps. Fortunately for us, Amazon is keen to highlight that it’ll range the 8.9-inch HTC tablet, and has now started taking pre-orders for both black and white variants of the device before they’ve even appeared on Google’s Play Store. The online retail giant has revealed that the 16GB Wi-Fi model will cost £319, with its 32GB counterpart coming in at £399. After the 4G-equipped 32GB Nexus 9? Expect to pay £459 for the privilege. If you decide to take the plunge today, Amazon says it will get it to you by November 3rd. It’s a blow for those hoping Google would keep parity with the US/UK exchange rate, which would have put the 16GB WiFi-only model at around £250. Unfortunately, Amazon nor Google have confirmed UK pricing for either the Nexus 6 or the Nexus Player, but we’ll bring you the very latest as soon as we get it.

HTC Nexus 9 pre-order goes live one day early on Amazon
The HTC-made Nexus 9 goes up for pre-order tomorrow on Google Play, but Amazon already started the party. Pricing is exactly the same as what Google will offer it for out of the Play Store. It’s $399 for the 16 GB version or $479 for the 32 GB version. You will of course have your choice of either black or white.
Shipping will commence on November 3, but the good news is that it’s on Prime, so you should get it in your hands by November 5 if you are a member. You can take your chances and hope that one of the participating retailers will have it on launch day, but this is one way to secure one for sure. If it were me, I would just wait to grab it in store. I can’t imagine they will be sold out.
Also, this isn’t just a U.S. exclusive. Those of you in France and Germany, can also pre-order now as well, but it’s technically October 17 in those countries.

Sprint’s HTC One (M7) update fixes Miracast
Sprint is busy pushing out a relatively minor over-the-air stability update to all its carrier-branded variants of HTC’s former flagship smartphone, the One (M7). Sadly, this upgrade doesn’t bring any major software modifications, such as Android 4.4.4, but it does transport a fix for a rather annoying problem that many users have been complaining about for a while now.
After update software version 5.05.651.2 has been installed, users will notice that they once again have the ability to mirror both local content and cloud-stored media to a Sony Bravia Smart TV via Miracast – a feature they’d lost due to a flaw in Sprint’s version of the KitKat operating system for its variant of the One (M7).
To initiate the upgrade manually, make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network. Then, from the home screen, press the Menu key, followed by Settings. Scroll to the bottom and tap ‘About Device’, then ‘Software Update’ and ‘Update Now’. Follow the prompts on the display of your device and your phone will start to download and install this 15.4 MB stability update.
