HTC Wants To Replace Your ‘Bad’ Christmas Gifts With A HTC One In Their Instagram Competition
Don’t like your Christmas gifts this year? Well, HTC wants to offer your the chance to replace your ‘bad’ gifts with a HTC One in their new Instagram competition. Here’s how you enter:
Entering is simple. Just follow these steps:
- Follow HTC on Instagram at: www.instagram.com/htc
- Snap a photo of the gift and post it on Instagram
- Include a comment in the caption explaining why it is a “bad” gift (or a gift that you didn’t want)
- Include the hashtag, #ReplaceMyGift, in the caption
- Tag @HTC in the photo (You don’t have to call out @HTC in the caption, just tag us!)
The photos will be judged by a panel of gift-giving judges based on originality, creativity, humor, and “badness” of the gift submitted in the photo and comment.
Sounds like a pretty easy way to get your hands on a HTC One this Christmas if you have a good entry. HTC also provided some examples of what you might Instagram:
I don’t see how a bunch of roses would be a bad present, unless you were allergic to romance, but each to their own. The competition is open through to 11:59pm on the 5th of January and you can enter if you are reside in “Australia, Canada, France, German, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, the UK, the US, and Vietnam”. If you’re lucky enough to be in one of those regions, start your Instagram engines!

Android 4.4.2 for HTC One and Galaxy S4 GEs! Android 4.3 Rolling Out to Numerous Other Phones! – Device Updates
Happy Monday to you all, if Mondays are happy at all. Time to see if your device is getting an update. Some Android 4.4.2 updates for the Google Edition phones are now available. Also some Android 4.3 updates are ready for you to download given you have the certain phones.

Verizon HTC One Receiving Android 4.3 this Week
Verizon HTC One users should have a happy week this week, as they will be getting their Android 4.3 update, or at least we hope they are getting it. The rollout for the update was delayed by a month by Verizon and HTC, leaving users wondering when they are going to get their enhanced Jelly Bean. Then we finally got info from the Executive Director of Product Management at HTC, who posted on Twitter handle @moversi these uplifting words:
VzW HTC One Owners: We have received Technical Approval from Verizon on the 4.3 MR! We expect the OTA to start early next week! Thank You!
Sadly no Sense 5.5 coming with this update. That will be updated with the Android 4.4 update, that will most likely start rolling out at the end of January.
So keep a lookout for the update this week. Hopefully this info is correct, and you can taste that enhanced Jelly Bean by the end of the week. Let us know when you receive it.

HTC One 2/M8 Getting Improved WiFi Certification?
The HTC One 2, or HTC M8, is making more noise today, with something that is actually pretty cool and I hope it will actually have it. Seems that the phone went through its WiFi certification, and in the document, it gives the impression that the new phone will be equipped with a WiFi antenna that will be able to switch from 2.5 GHz signals, and 5 GHz signals. As of now, mobile devices cannot operate if you set your wireless router to 5 GHz, which I ran into a lot when I worked for the cable industry.
Many customers that I had, craved for more speed, or a better signal from their router. I would then throw out the option of turning their signal to 5 GHz, but then they would pull out their tablets and I would have to let them know that it couldn’t use the signal if set that way. Sometimes customers would get confident and change the signal themselves, then call us up with a trouble call stating they can’t get WiFi on their mobile devices.
According to the document , the HTC One 2 should be able to use any from of 802.11 signal, and if I’m not mistaken, it will be the first mobile device to do so. I don’t think there are any devices out there that can receive a 5 GHz signal, but if there is, let us know. Also let us know your thoughts about this.

Happy Friday my friends. Time for some ManDroid info. The HTC One 2 might be upon us in the coming months, and someone made an awesome 3D concept video. The HTC One 2/M8 3D Concept Takes Video Form
The HTC One is considered by most the best smartphone that hit the market this year. Even if you hate HTC, or you hate the Sense UI, you still can’t say that it is truly the best built phone to date. I love the HTC One, and many would argue that I’m just an HTC fanboy and will love everything HTC puts out. Couldn’t be further from the truth, because I absolutely hate the pain it is to unlock the bootloader and get S-Off on the devices, and I am thinking my next phone will be a Nexus or a Moto X.
With that declaration though, comes a 3D concept video of the successor to the HTC One, and if the phone is anything like it is displayed here in this video, maybe I won’t jump the HTC ship quite yet. The HTC One 2, which will probably be among us as early as Q1, gets a 3D mock-up video, and the specs sound magical. A 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 5-inch 2k display, 3GB or RAM, Android 4.4, Sense 6, and a 4000mah battery. Did that make your mouth water? Let’s just say the blood in my head rushed elsewhere when I watched the video for the first time. The design is pretty similar to the original HTC One, but this time we get a matte black color and it just looks so pretty.
