Dry your comforters faster with these two everyday items – CNET

drying-a-comforter-tips.jpg

You don’t want this in your life. Trust me.

Alina Bradford/CNET

Comforters can take forever to dry because they tend to bunch up in the dryer in a sushi roll of sogginess. The stuffing inside tends to clump together, too, making the blanket a lumpy mess. But there is a trick to getting a super fluffy comforter that dries quickly. Look no further than the sports section of your department store and your own linen closet.

Throw two tennis balls in the dryer with your comforter and set it on a low heat tumble. The tennis balls help prevent bunching and twisting by bouncing against the comforter as it dries. Don’t worry, this trick won’t hurt your dryer.

Don’t have tennis balls? You can use balls of aluminum foil in a pinch.

For extra drying power, throw a dry, clean bath towel into the dryer, as well. After 15-20 minutes, remove the towel but don’t take the tennis balls out. The towel will absorb a lot of the moisture in the dryer, making the comforter dry faster.

Garmin Approach X40 Release Date, Price and Specs – CNET

garmin-products-10.jpg
Sarah Tew/CNET

Garmin on Friday announced a new fitness tracker for golfers that are interested in a device that can be worn both on and off the course. The $249 (around AU$320, £175) Approach X40 is a slim and lightweight band with GPS built in for calculating distances from the green and hazards like sand bunkers and ponds on over 40,000 golf courses worldwide.

It also doubles as an all-day fitness tracker for measuring things like steps, distance, calories burned, sleep and heart rate, which is measured through an optical sensor on the back and doesn’t require a separate chest strap. The band can even display notifications from your iPhone or Android device.

garmin-products-15.jpggarmin-products-15.jpg
Sarah Tew/CNET

The X40 is noticeably smaller than other golf watches, such as the TomTom Golfer and Garmin’s own Approach S20. Even with its small size, Garmin was able to include quite a few features.

If you’re playing on one of the golf courses in the extensive database, the band will measure distances to the front, middle and back of the green, and can be used as a digital scorecard to track individual stats like fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts per round.

There’s even an AutoShot feature that Garmin claims will automatically measure the distance and location of each shot. Data is then automatically uploaded to the Garmin Connect app for post-round analysis. The band can also be paired with Garmin’s TruSwing sensor, a device that is mounted directly on the club and used to measure various swing metrics, and will display the data captured by the sensor directly on the band.

garmin-products-16.jpggarmin-products-16.jpg
Sarah Tew/CNET

I had some time to check out the X40 in our New York office last week, although I didn’t take it out to the course. The band is quite similar to Garmin’s Vivosmart HR tracker that I reviewed last December. It’s a tad bulky compared to a normal fitness tracker (like a Fitbit Alta or Jawbone Up2), but remarkably slim compared to other devices with GPS.

As with all of Garmin’s products, you won’t have to remove the band before you shower or go for a swim. It’s waterproof up to 50 meters. As for battery life, you can expect to get up to 10 hours with an active GPS signal and up to five days of use as an activity tracker.

The Approach X40 will begin shipping by the end of June and will be available in black, white and frost blue.

Xiaomi Mi 4S Review

Get it on Ebay

With the addition of yet another revision of the Mi 4, Xiaomi has expanded their Mi line to include what may seem to be a worthy alternative to the Mi 5, at least at first glance. The Xiaomi Mi 4S boasts several premium aspects such as a Snapdragon 808, glass design, and a plentiful 64 GB of expandable storage. Despite these attributes, Xiaomi has priced the Mi 4S competitively at just 1699 RMB, or about $263. Let’s take a much closer look with our Xiaomi Mi 4S review!

Design

The Mi 4S feels more so like a traditional smartphone compared to the Mi 5

Xiaomi has adopted a design language similar to that of the OnePlus X for the Mi 4S. However, there are still several noteworthy design decisions. Once you hold the Xiaomi Mi 4S for the first time, you will notice that the curved glass and contouring aluminum found on the Mi 5 are absent. The Mi 4S feels more so like a traditional smartphone compared to the Mi 5, although I must say that I generally like the design for its minimalistic appeal.

A patterned rear design on the gold and pink models does add a little extra flair to the overall design, however. The power and volume buttons on the right side of the Xiaomi Mi 4S felt tactile and responsive, and I would consider them to be on par with the vast majority of flagship smartphones. I was also happy with the IR blaster on the top of the device, which made it easy to control my television and other household appliances without the use of a physical remote.

Xiaomi Mi 4S-2

I do have a few gripes with the design of the Xiaomi Mi 4S. Most remarkably is the device’s slipperiness when placed on soft or unlevel surfaces like a couch or window sill. Unfortunately, my unit’s display cracked after taking a three foot fall from the latter to a hardwood floor.

My unit’s display cracked after taking a three foot fall from a window sill to a hardwood floor

This does raise a few concerns regarding the Mi 4S’ durability, as well as a reservation about the decision to not use Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on both the front and back glass panels.

There is a multi-colored notification LED for notifications like missed calls and text messages, which, while standard for Xiaomi devices, seems to be a seriously underrated feature. Xiaomi also retained their standardized capacitive key design with the Mi 4S, making the transition from other Xiaomi smartphones less of a learning experience.

Display

Xiaomi Mi 4S-8

Xiaomi has chartered into the territory of comfortable one-handed use, thanks to the smaller 5″ 1080P full HD display. The display on the Xiaomi Mi 4S is pretty good overall. While I did prefer the Mi 5‘s deeper blacks and more relaxed color reproduction, the display on the Mi 4S offers up plenty of saturation and vibrance, as well as very good contrast and excellent viewing angles. It was also easily viewable outdoors during my testing, which is undoubtedly a very important attribute for many of us.

Performance

The Xiaomi Mi 4S is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808, a processor which is otherwise rarely accessible for under $300. The 808 was able to power through my usage demands with relative ease, and I did not take note of any lag during my couple of weeks with the phone. There is 3 GB of RAM as well, which is oftentimes more than enough when multitasking.

Xiaomi Mi 4S Screenshots-56

There’s also an Adreno 418 GPU which helps ensure smooth gaming performance. Overall, the Xiaomi Mi 4S was able to play everything I threw at it with relative ease. However, it is important to understand that this GPU may soon begin to show its age, and newly released games may not perform as well as current titles.

Hardware

The lack of U.S. 4G LTE support may be a deal breaker for some

If you are expecting 4G LTE with the Xiaomi Mi 4S, you may be in for a surprise as the device does not generally support the frequencies used outside of China that are required to transmit data over LTE. In the U.S., for example, you will be limited to HSPA+ on AT&T in all areas and HSPA+ on T-Mobile in some areas. While T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network is respectably fast, and AT&T’s is often fairly quick in most areas as well, this may be a deal breaker for some. Do keep in mind, however, that this phone should work flawlessly wherever it is sold officially. Here is the frequency list for the Chinese variant:

FDD-LTE B1, B3, B7
TD-LTE B38, B39, B40, B41
TD-SCDMA B34, B39
WCDMA B1, B2, B5, B8
GSM B2, B3, B5, B8
CDMA 2000 BC0, BC1

Xiaomi Mi 4S-5

On a positive note, call quality was excellent during our testing. Since this is an unlocked dual-SIM device, you may use up to two individual SIM cards with the Mi 4S simultaneously. The nano-SIM slot can also double as a microSD card expansion slot, allowing you to add more storage, assuming that the 64 GB of internal storage isn’t enough.

Xiaomi Mi 4S-7

The fingerprint reader is both accurate and fast

The fingerprint reader on the back of the Xiaomi Mi 4S is perhaps unsurprisingly similar to the one found on the Redmi Note 3. It’s both accurate and fast, oftentimes even comparable to the Nexus 6P’s fingerprint reader. Xiaomi also included a USB Type-C port, as well as compatibility with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0. If you look towards the right of the USB Type-C port, you’ll find a surprisingly loud speaker. Unfortunately, it sounds distorted and tinny, especially at higher volumes.

Average users should be able to get about a day and a half of use, while heavy users can still expect a full day

During my battery life tests, the Xiaomi Mi 4S performed very well, despite falling just short of the Mi 5‘s battery life. This surprised me as the Mi 4S has a larger 3080mAh internal battery and has a more power efficient processor. I did notice excessive battery life use by the Android System, which likely can and may be fixed with a future software update. However, battery life was still very good and average users should be able to get about a day and a half of use, while heavy users can still expect a full day.

Camera

Xiaomi Mi 4S-11

The 13 MP rear camera performed very well

All things considered, the 13 MP rear camera on the Xiaomi Mi 4S performed very well. Images taken in good lighting were sharp and detailed, in addition to having a healthy amount of dynamic range. HDR also worked well, and while the Mi 4S’ camera may be inferior to the one found on the Mi 5, the difference in image quality is often considerably marginal.

Although the dual-LED flash on the back helps even out skin tones, OIS is unfortunately missing. That may be one of the primary causes for relatively poor low-light performance, which can be seen in the various camera samples above. The 5 MP f/2.0 front-facing camera did perform well enough for my needs, and produced nice looking selfies.

Thankfully, the camera software shipping with the Mi 4S is the same software found on the Mi 5. It’s easy to use in auto mode, but can also be very powerful in manual mode, offering control over white balance, focus, exposure time, and ISO in manual mode.

Software

MIUI is very enjoyable in day-to-day use

Xiaomi is shipping the Mi 4S with MIUI 7 over Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. That was a bit disappointing to see, since the latest iteration of Android, Marshmallow, has been out for around six months now. MIUI may receive a fair bit of criticism for its iOS-like design, but it is actually very enjoyable in day-to-day use. That’s at least partly thanks to the amount of customization that Xiaomi has packed in, which will please many Android enthusiasts.

Built-in features such as a comprehensive theme store, call recording, app cleaner, advanced data usage management, call & text blacklist, advanced battery life profiles, virus scanner, app permissions, bug reporting, and a seemingly countless number of settings options can be found on the Mi 4S. What’s even better is Xiaomi’s commitment to keeping their Mi devices updated by releasing weekly stable updates, which sometimes add new features and almost always include bug fixes and optimizations.

Xiaomi Mi 4S-10

If you chose to import the Mi 4S from a reseller in China, you need to be aware of a few potential complications. Since the stock China software shipping on Chinese variants does not include Google apps, many resellers have decided to manually add them for you. This sounds great, but in practice, they often add bloatware and sometimes even malware as well. Therefore, it would be very wise for you to flash the global ROM, which includes Google apps, in order to have the best experience possible. Without flashing a stock ROM, you will not be able to receive weekly updates and your personal information may be at risk due to possible malware.

If importing, you must unlock the boot loader if you wish to have a secure experience, a process which can take up to ten days

Here is where it gets complicated. Xiaomi recently started locking boot loaders, in an effort to curb reseller shenanigans and increase security. Unfortunately, many resellers have evidently been able to get around this, and have even blocked updating in their custom ROMs, forcing you to unlock the boot loader if you wish to have a secure experience. What’s worse is that the unlocking process is very complicated. Users are forced to wait up to ten days and some features, such as Xiaomi’s “find my device,” are permanently disabled. This is only an issue if you chose to import the device, however. If you buy the Mi 4S through an official channel, you will have absolutely no trouble.

Overall, MIUI offers a stable experience that has been carefully curated and tweaked over the past few versions and while it is missing a few features found in stock Android, it will be comfortable for any MIUI enthusiast to use.

Price

The Xiaomi Mi 4S is now available in white, black, gold, or pink within China for 1699 RMB (≈$263). Each Mi 4S includes 64 GB of onboard storage, but, as mentioned earlier, you can expand that via a microSD card.

Conclusion

Xiaomi Mi 4S-3

There is no doubt that the Xiaomi Mi 4S is a great smartphone, especially for the price. Despite its flaws of a lack of global availability, disappointing low-light camera performance, and an outdated version of Android, there are several reasons why the Mi 4S may be appealing. Its very nice display, impressive performance for the price, excellent battery life, and great daylight camera performance may be enough to win over many who would have instead purchased the Mi 5.

With that said, the release of the Xiaomi Mi 4S in general feels unjustified relative to other products in Xiaomi’s own lineup. In a way, the Mi 4S feels like a phone for nobody, as the Mi 5 is only $50 more and offers a considerably better experience, while the Redmi Note 3 is less than half the price yet offers a strikingly similar experience.

With nearly a dozen new smartphones in 2015, Xiaomi may even be cannibalizing its own market by releasing so many different models at similar price points, when each model is only marginally different. If you are looking for a new smartphone from Xiaomi, we recommend considering either the slightly more expensive Mi 5 or the much less expensive Redmi Note 3 instead of the Mi 4S.

What do you think of the Xiaomi Mi 4S and do you plan to buy one or is one of Xiaomi’s other handsets more your flavour? Let us know your views in the comments below!

BlackBerry Priv is now even more affordable at AT&T

AT&T has slashed the price of the BlackBerry Priv by $60, dropping it down to $639 off contract. While this isn’t a huge savings, it exceeds the $50 cut that BlackBerry recently did on the phone. If you are in the market for a new phone or have been eyeing the Priv but waiting for the price to drop a little, this may be your time to pick one up.

blackberry-priv-hero.jpg?itok=RHIE_orq

While it is great to see AT&T lower the price, keep in mind that for a limited time you can buy an unlocked AT&T variant of the BlackBerry Priv for just $450 at Daily Steals, which is an even better offer.

Thanks for the tip, @kjvella!

Motorola Affinity spotted in import listing, may turn out to be the Moto E 2016

Indian import export website Zauba shows that Motorola has imported a phone into the country with the codename Affinity. The screen size is listed as 5 inches, and the retail value at ₹5,164 ($78) suggests this may well be the Moto E 2016.

motorola-affinity.jpg?itok=Iw_IL8IM

With the Moto G4 rumored to sport a 5.5-inch display, it is possible Motorola is considering a bump in the screen size for its entry-level offering from 4.5 inches to 5 inches. As GSMArena notes, the larger size may have something to do with a possible fingerprint scanner.

This isn’t the first time we’re looking at a Motorola handset making its way to India recently, as records from last month revealed a handset called the Moto X3 heading to Motorola India’s facility for testing. That phone also featured a 5-inch screen, although the pricing was slightly higher at ₹6,812 ($102). Given the lack of any credible information with regards to the hardware or software on offer, we’ll have to until we get more details on either phone.

In the meantime, what’s on your wishlist for the Moto E 2016?

Microsoft and Google hug it out, agree to withdraw regulatory complaints

Are Microsoft and Google entering a new era of cooperation? A new report states the two companies are going to work together to resolve any issues among themselves before bringing in outside regulators.

lollipop-statue-5_0.jpg?itok=ycpVp3u5

According to Re/code:

“Microsoft has agreed to withdraw its regulatory complaints against Google, reflecting our changing legal priorities,” a Microsoft representative said in a statement to Re/code. “We will continue to focus on competing vigorously for business and for customers.” Google, meanwhile, offered up a similar statement, affirming that it too will withdraw any regulatory complaints it has made. “Our companies compete vigorously, but we want to do so on the merits of our products, not in legal proceedings.”

The report says this development has been in the works for some time and reflects the more cordial relationship between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. It’s certainly a far cry from Microsoft’s previous public efforts to go after Google for its search and ad policies under its now discontinued “Scroogled” campaign. Microsoft has also recently ended its membership of two groups, FairSearch and ICOMP, that publicly supported antitrust actions against Google’s search business.

Telus may finally be updating the Galaxy S5 and Note 4 to Marshmallow

According to a new document, it appears as though Telus may be preparing to roll out the Marshmallow update for both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4. The Marshmallow rollout has been a slow one, but we have seen lots of different phones get updated recently.

While both phones are somewhat older, that doesn’t mean that those holding onto them don’t want the latest operating system. Arjin Puri noted the changes on Twitter:

Canadian telco #Telus finally posts the #samsung #note4 #marshmallow update timeline. May 16th is the date! #android pic.twitter.com/O3zUO0DcbV

— Arjun Puri (@a2puri) April 22, 2016

Don’t put too much weight into the dates listed, as they are always subject to change. It is great to see that more of the previous generation phones will be getting the updated to the latest version of the operating system.

Best clear cases for the Galaxy S7 edge

samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-best-clear-cases-

Don’t wanna cover up your phone? What do you do? Protect it. Clearly.

There’s a reason clear cases are the most popular: phones are getting prettier and prettier. Have you seen the S7 edge in silver?!

Show off your gorgeous phone loudly and proudly with a clear case. We’ve rounded up the best of the best for your viewing pleasure.

  • Spigen Neo Hybrid Crystal
  • Trianium Clear Cushion
  • Abestbox Ulta Hybrid Air Cushion Crystal Clear
  • i-Blason Clear Hero Series
  • EasyAcc
  • LUVVITT ClearView
  • Speck Candyshell Clear
  • Supcase Unicorn Beetle Hybrid

Spigen Neo Hybrid Crystal

spigen-neohybrid-crystal-press.jpg?itok=

This offer from Spigen is the two-piece type that has a flexible body with a harder plastic edging. Normally, those hard plastic outer edges don’t fit the softer silicone properly, but in the case of this… case… the fit is superb.

The phone feels solid and neither the rim nor the silicone impede any functionality of the edge features. Sometimes the plastic has a habit of being a bit loose, so if you push near the power or volume buttons, they’d engage. Not with the Neo Hybrid Crystal; everything fits snugly and the buttons are only pushed when you want them to be.

It should be noted that the outer plastic piece could become loose over time, since it is rather flexible; however, if you aren’t constantly taking the case off your S7 edge, you shouldn’t have a problem.
The reason we chose this case over Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid, which doesn’t have the harder outer plastic piece, is that you can’t feel any seams on the Neo Hybrid. The Ultra Hybrid has a rather sharp seam that’s just uncomfortable.

Trianium Clear Cushion

trianium-gs7-edge-clear-press.jpg?itok=c

The Trianium Clear Cushion is a great option for those of us that love a 100 percent clear case that’s seamless and sleek, while offering the necessary protection. With the S7 line-up being notorious for shattering when dropped on a corner, Trianium offers some peace of mind with its thicker corners and lifetime warranty. If you start to notice imperfections, then you can apply for a new one.

The Clear Cushion fits great and is less than a millimeter thick, so it’s almost like your phone’s wearing nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all…

The case is slim, but it’s also proportioned in all the right places; the edges come up just enough to block you from accidentally hitting buttons, but they don’t block the edge features at all. Use the edge when you want to, not when your case fits poorly.

You also have the added benefit of Trianium’s scratch-resistant coating, so your pretty phone stays pretty longer.

Just watch out if you have a screen protector on your edge, as the Clear Cushion fits so snugly that it might curl up the edges.

Abestbox Ulta Hybrid Air Cushion Crystal Clear

abestbox-gs7-clear-press.jpg?itok=r9aNCp

Another great one-piece entry, the Abestbox Crystal Clear is a solidly built case and when they say, “crystal clear,” they mean it. It’s really clear, which is great if you’re someone that can’t stand having to case your phone, but understand that it’s probably a good idea.

Once again, this is another great fit that does not impede any edge function at all, and the super slim design doesn’t add any bulk or weight to your phone. It’s not slick, so you’ll have no trouble gripping your S7 edge and holding on to it.

See at Amazon

i-Blason Clear Hero Series

i-Blason-galaxy-s7-clear-case-press.jpg?

If you’re looking for heavy duty scratch resistance, then this is the case for you. It’s rated 3H (pencil hardness) for scratch resistance.

Actually, i-Blason is great for all-around scratch protection, since its raised front bezel makes it ideal for phones with screen protectors. The raised bezel is also good idea, just in case you drop your S7 edge on its face.

Once again, the Clear Hero Series is really clear, leaving the beauty of Samsung’s flagship on display.

See at Amazon

EasyAcc

easyacc-gs7-edge-clear-press.jpg?itok=wP

EasyAcc’s clear case is as minimalist as we can get while still talking about a case that offers solid protection. This is the most flexible entry in our round-up, so if you like the grippy rubber feeling of TPU, then this is the one for you.

It’s totally seamless and tear-resistant, so you need not worry about it being too flexible. The edges of EasyAcc’s case are raised just enough, just in case you drop your phone on a flat surface.

This case is ideal if you’re looking for something incredibly minimalist with great grip. Just beware of stretching, since it is so flexible and also be aware that the case may yellow over time, since TPU absorbs light very easily.

See at Amazon

LUVVITT ClearView

luvvitt-gs7-clear-press.jpg?itok=r5eicDh

With all the poor S7 and S7 edges that have been dropped on their corners and turned into spider webs come LUVVITT’s interesting and effective answer: air.

There are small spaces for air in each corner of their ClearView case, which offer more impact support while not affecting the fit in any way. You’d think that space in a case would make it loose, but that’s just not the… case (how many more can I fit into this post?).

There are raised lips on both the front and back of the case to protect your screen and the hard plastic back. The harder plastic makes for a clearer view of your S7 edge, while the rubber edging cushions impacts well.

LUVVITT offers a lifetime warranty, so if you start to notice imperfections that may compromise protection, let them know. The rubber edge is made of TPU, so keep in mind that it may yellow over time.

See at Amazon

Speck Candyshell Clear

speck-candyshell-gs7-edge-clear-press.jp

Speck’s Candyshell is a dual-layer case that has a hard polycarbonate exterior and a soft acrylic interior so it’s kind of like a bike helmet for your phone. There’s less risk of these materials turning yellow, so your S7 edge will shine through for a long time to come.

Unlike most polycarbonate cases, this one has a slim build and doesn’t add a ton of bulk to your phone, though it can be a tad slippery, especially if your hands are dry. It’s also not as clear as other cases we’ve mentioned, but it still offers solid protection while showcasing your S7 edge.

The Speck logo is etched into the inside of the case, so you can kind of see it on the lighter-colored S7 edges, but on block it’s not horrible visible.

See at Amazon

Supcase Unicorn Beetle Hybrid

supcasegalaxy-s7-unicorn-beetle-slim-pre

If nothing else, you should probably just pick up this case for the name! The Supcase Unicorn Beetle hybrid is for those of us who want something rugged that can withstand more than a little jostle.

I should point out up front that this case isn’t totally clear but more translucent. The outer edge is black as well, so if you really want to show of your S7 edge, this may not be the case for you. However, if you want rugged protection and would still like to see your phone if you can, then have at ‘er.

You’ve got a shock-absorbent TPU bumper around the outer edges and a hard polycarbonate back panel that come in a rather slim design for a “rugged”-style case. The corners are all reinforced and there’s a raised lip on the front that protects from a faceplant while still allowing for full edge functionality.

If you want to appreciate the craftsmanship of your S7 edge while truly feeling the protection, then this case is ideal for you.

Samsung Galaxy Note 6 battery could be huge, powering a 5.8-inch display

With Samsung’s regular flagship devices launched – and seeming to be very popular – attention has turned to Samsung’s other hero product, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6.

The Galaxy Note has been something of a breakaway success, often heralded as the phablet and it’s often where Samsung makes changes over the earlier flagship launches.

For the Samsung Galaxy Note 6, it’s reported that Samsung might be looking at a 5.8-inch display, a slight increase in size over the 5.7-inch display currently sitting in the Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. The resolution will still be 2560 x 1440 pixels and using an AMOLED panel.

However, the current state of thinking suggests that Samsung is toying with a flat display (like the Note 5) and a curved display (like the SGS6 edge+). It’s not known exactly what the final device will be, but the source of this information says that there will only be one Note 6 model.

We’re hoping for a curved display and the S Pen, if that’s any help in making your decision, Samsung.

The other interesting suggestion is that Samsung will be stuffing a 4000mAh battery into the frame of the Note 6. The source goes on to admit that this isn’t an exact capacity, so we’re taking this with a pinch of salt, but the suggestion is that it will be capacious enough to see the Note 6 through the day – something phablet users have come to expect.

Currently the Note 5 has a 3000mAh battery, but with the Galaxy S7 edge offering 3400mAh, we suspect that Samsung knows which way to push those battery numbers.

We’ve been tracking all the rumours surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 launch and we’re expecting to see this device in late summer, perhaps August or September 2016.

‘Ark: Survival of the Fittest’ brings dinosaur combat to PS4

What would happen if you combined The Hunger Games with Jurassic Park? That’s the idea behind Survival of the Fittest, a standalone game based on ARK: Survival Evolved. The so-called “Multiplayer Online Survival Arena” title launched on PC last month, and now it’s headed towards the PlayStation 4. Starting on July 19th, console players will be able to fight for supremacy using the resources on an ever-shrinking arena. The aim is to quickly collect materials, craft better gear and, if you’re lucky, tame some dinosaurs to ravage your opponents. It’s a whacky concept, for sure.

The PlayStation 4 release will come with some new additions. Kayd Hendricks, a gameplay designer at Studio Wildcard, says the team is working on splitscreen multiplayer, local LAN play and a practice mode that lets you compete with bots offline. It’ll also support Survivor League, an eSports-style ranking system that doles our cash prizes to the best players every month. If you’re the competitive type that’s burned out on traditional shooters and MOBAs, this could be a refreshing turn of pace.
