Waze list the best and worst countries to drive in

arnold-schwarzenegger-wazePopular navigation app Waze has provided information about the best and worst places to drive in the world. It also goes over other things like the best and worst places to be a driver as well as who has the most traffic.

They took over 50 million user results from 32 countries and rated their experiences. Scoring a 10 means it’s amazing while a 1 is horrible. This information also includes other things like road quality, traffic, driver safety and more.

Those of you who live in the Netherlands will be happy to find out it scored the top spot in the world to drive with a ranking of 7.9. The US came pretty close, but took the third spot with a 7.2. However, you definitely do not want to drive in El Salvador as it only scored a 2.1 “due to frequency and severity of traffic jams, lack of driver services, and poor road infrastructure”.

Waze best countries to drive

Waze go over a ton of other information, but one I found interesting was the best and worst places for traffic. The Netherlands again take the top spot with an 8 while the US isn’t far behind with a 7. Although, at a city level, Phoenix has the lightest traffic overall.

TRX7 Record

Magellan’s detailed off-road maps feature:

TRX7

Magellan added in a number of features and functions that dedicated trail riders are sure to find useful. Those who like to share their rides on social outlets, the TRX7 has your back there too. The device connects to Wi-Fi, which includes using your phone as a hotspot if accessible, and allows you to share your ride to Facebook or Twitter with a tap of a # tag.

“Magellan’s new eXplorist TRX7 is the most fully-loaded, affordable and purpose-built off-road navigator for adventuring,” commented Stig Pedersen, associate vice president of product management for Magellan. “Whether you want to navigate the classic trails, or want to create your own adventures, the Magellan eXplorist TRX7 stands ready to help you traverse some of the most rugged terrain.”

Hardware wise the TRX7 measures in at 5.2″ x 8.7″ x .67″ inches and weighs 21.16oz. It packs in a rechargeable battery that keeps you on track for up to 8 hours at a time and is IP67 water-resistant rated. Internal storage is set at 16GB, but it carries a micro SD card slot to add upto 64GB more. Most of which will be for your trail ride data, tracks and saved/planned excursions, but also leaves lots of room for more outdoor map updates in the future. The screen measures in at 7-inches with a resolution of 1024 x 600. The unit is powered by a dual core cortex-A9 processor and 1GB of RAM. Along with the aforementioned Wi-Fi connection the TRX7 also offer Bluetooth connectivity. Which is probably great for pairing with your helmets internal speakers. Although, I am not sure the TRX7 has a way to play any tunes to your brain while you ride, it most likely will give your verbal directions.

Magellan has the device listed with a complete run down of features and specs on their website with a retail price tag of $599.99.

Fantasy sports staff earned obscene cash by playing on rival sites

DraftKings Inc. And FanDuel Inc. Applications As Ad Spending Increases

Those suspicions that DraftKings and FanDuel employees are profiting from being a little too cozy? Yeah, they’ve just gained some serious credibility. On top of a recent lawsuit accusing the two websites of using insider information to commit fraud, the New York Times has learned that staff at these sites have frequently been raking in huge amounts of cash by playing on each other’s sites. Both DraftKings and FanDuel workers have “regularly” ranked as big winners, possibly by using that insider info to gain an unfair advantage. DraftKings co-founder Paul Liberman even noted that some of his team members have made “significantly more money” from competing at FanDuel than they have working their jobs. Taking that option away might discourage people from staying with the company, he claimed.

The companies are trying to mend their image. They’ve both banned their employees from playing in daily fantasy sports of any kind, and the firms are conducting an independent investigation that should report back within weeks. Even if DraftKings and FanDuel clean up their playing practices, though, neither the inspection nor the lawsuit are likely to represent the end of the story. The sites are operating in a largely unregulated field, and it won’t be surprising if the US government eventually clamps down to make sure that everyday players stand a real chance of winning.

Key and Peele pen TV deal with Vine’s King Bach

When it was announced that Key & Peele were going to wrap up production this year on their self-titled sketch show, comedy fans all around the world were pretty bummed about it. But now Deadline has reported that the two comedy stars will write and produce a new comedy starring Vine‘s Andrew “KingBach” Bachelor. The man who has mastered the social media platform and perfected the six-second loop is no stranger to comedy shows, having already starred in recurring roles in The Mindy Project, House Of Lies and Black Jesus. With the help of Key & Peele writer Alex Rubens, the new show will be loosely based around one of Bachelor’s online personas and follow an undercover cop who goes back to his hometown in order to take out the bad guys who bullied him while growing up.

That’s pretty much all we know about the untitled comedy for now, but with Bachelor being the biggest Vine star with 14 million followers and over 5.1 billion video loops, it’s safe to say that episodes of the new show will be played over again…and again…and again..

The entire ‘Black Ops 3’ campaign will be unlocked from the start

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 developer Treyarch is embracing the Netflix way of doing business. When the game launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 6th, its entire campaign will be available to play, director Jason Blundell tells Eurogamer. You’ll be able to play the final chapter first and work backward, or pretend you’re a time-traveler with a broken teleporter and play every section out of order. Or you can play it the retro way: Chronologically, unlocking new weapons and plot points as you go.

Blundell says the switch is aimed at catering to “far more mature” players that want to consume content on their own schedule: “Maybe they put it down on level two, and then they’re in work the next day and some guy says, ‘Dude, you’ve got to check out level four!’ And he’s like, ‘OK, I’ll have a quick look.’ That’s totally fine. I think it’s their choice.”

As for people jumping ahead, Blundell tells Eurogamer that he’s not worried about it. After all, other media companies have paved the way for this distribution method. “When Netflix release House of Cards and do all the episodes, does everyone just jump to the end and go and play the last episode?” he asks. “Sure you can. But it’s about the journey, though, right?”

For Call of Duty, it’s usually about the multiplayer — but we see his point. Remember, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Black Ops 3 won’t get the campaign at all.

Rand Paul will livestream an entire day from his presidential campaign

Republican Candidates Attend Heritage Action Candidate Forum

Senator Rand Paul’s campaign for the Republican presidential nomination isn’t going well — he’s as far down as eighth place, depending on whose polls you trust. And he’s hoping that showing some internet savviness will help him get out of that rut. The politician has announced plans to livestream an entire day from his campaign (October 13th) on both Facebook and UStream. He’ll take questions whenever he can, and hopes to finish after the Democratic debate wraps up in the evening.

It’s a groundbreaking experiment for a presidential hopeful, and it does suggest that Paul is slightly more in tune with tech than some other candidates. However, it’s debatable as to whether or not this will move the needle in a race where the frontrunners are succeeding based more on what they’re saying than how they say it. And as some have already pointed out, there’s an irony to a staunchly pro-privacy candidate putting his life on display for the whole internet to see — especially when this isn’t really the kind of increased government accountability that his supporters might expect.

doubletwist_cloudplayer_android_auto

Taking your music everywhere and controlling it from any device is quite the treat, but not every platform allows you to do so. doubleTwist’s CloudPlayer now works across Google’s software for phones, tablets, smartwatches, and vehicles. CloudPlayer’s latest update gives Android Auto and Android Wear users control of their library from respective devices.

doubletwist_cloudplayer_android_auto_playlists

doubleTwist describes the update:

The latest release of doubleTwist CloudPlayer brings support for Android Wear and Android Auto, helping you control your music from your wrist or from your car stereo while zipping down the highway. This works not only with songs stored locally on your phone but also for all the music that’s on your Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive. ARCHOS and Sikur announce GranitePhone availability – full encryption for $849

granitephone-1

How important is privacy to you? Those who really care about it will pay a hefty amount of money to keep all their communications safe. That is the audience ARCHOS and Sikur are betting on with their GranitePhone, a privacy-focused handset they unveiled at MWC, this year.

These companies are now celebrating the announcement of the GranitePhone’s availability, as you can go directly to the official website and pre-order the device. In a similar manner to most previous security-focused mobile devices, this smartphone won’t come cheap – it is worth a mighty $849!

What is it that makes this phone special and will drive you away from other very powerful handsets at around the same price? It sure isn’t the specs, as the GranitePhone definitely lacks on that department. It’s more of a mid-end smartphone in terms of power, packing a Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and a 5-inch 1080p display.

granitephone-3

I am not saying it’s a bad phone either, as it will probably run pretty well. It’s just that comparable devices like the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3, ASUS ZenFone 2 and even the Moto G can offer similar performance for under $250.

This phone is not exactly for those looking to have the best “bang for your buck”. Instead, it harnesses the power of Granite OS, its Android-based operating system, to encrypt your calls, contacts, messages, chat, dashboard and more. It encompasses privacy at its fullest, applying multiple layers of protection. Of course, the device also takes advantage of Sikur applications to provide users with secure cloud storage solutions.

granitephone-2

Surely, this might be a good solution for those who can truly appreciate a secure phone, but times are changing and even these types of devices are getting more fair with their prices. One of the GranitePhone’s biggest competitors will be the Turing Phone. Turing’s alternative starts at $610 and sports much more powerful specs.

We will have to wait and see how well ARCHOS and Sikur can sell this bad boy. If interested, you can always head over to the GranitePhone website and pre-order your own smartphone. Are any of you signing up for one?

Two major Twitter accounts suspended after posting GIFs with NFL footage

deadspin_twitter_suspension_nfl

Twitter accounts belonging to Deadspin (@Deadspin) and SB Nation (@SBNationGIF) were suspended earlier this evening after reusing NFL footage for GIFs and Vines. Both publications were served with multiple takedown notices — issued through the Digital Millennium Copyright Act — by the league, causing Twitter to enforce suspensions.

Here is the league’s statement regarding what went down tonight:

“The NFL sent routine notices as part of its copyright enforcement program requesting that Twitter disable links to more than a dozen pirated NFL game videos and highlights that violate the NFL’s copyrights. We did not request that any Twitter account be suspended.”
