Valiant Pixels makes its Moonshine icon pack open source
Developing an app of any kind takes a lot of time and money. And, to be successful, it normally takes upkeep after launch. Consumers are always looking for updated content that makes an app look and feel fresh. For Valiant Pixels, it has become time to move on from its Moonshine icon pack. Pedro Peguero Jr., the founder of the startup, announced today that Moonshine will be going open source, allowing Valiant Pixels to focus on new projects. Valiant Pixels will focus on design with logos, magazines, and, yes, even icons.
Valiant Pixels chose to move away from Moonshine because the icon pack was taking up much of Peguero Jr.’s time. Between graduating college, a new job, and people leaving Valiant Pixels, he felt it was time to look at projects that will allow him to operate his own studio in New York City with a vast amount of clients. Working on Moonshine alone is obviously in the way of fulfilling his dream.
Peguero Jr. is looking forward to Valiant Pixel’s future:
“From this day moving forward, you will begin to see less mentions of Moonshine, but more mentions of new work. More real life projects from logo, magazine, and commissioned icon design which we share with you. On top of that, I’m in the process of letting more people get on board on the VP team, so that I can finally, yes..finally begin my core goal of leading a design team and running my own business.
Moonshine was a huge milestone in this journey, and I can’t wait to share with you more of this journey throughout the coming months/years. With a new website in the works, and more work added to our portfolio, we can’t wait to show you what Valiant Pixels truly is about.”
Moonshine’s popularity is certainly not being overlooked. It has accumulated nearly 2 million downloads and over 72,000 people have rated it in the Play Store. Right now, Valiant Pixels does intend to provide Moonshine with bug fixes and improvements to the user interface and stability. From there, it is all about to the public deciding where they want to take Moonshine.
