If you aren’t an Amazon Prime subscriber, unfortunately you won’t get to take advantage of any of the deals. Lucky for you, though, you might not need to spend the $99 fee to get a one-year subscription to Prime, because right now, Amazon has dropped the off-contract price of its Fire Phone to just $159, which is just about a $20 discount. Plus, it comes with a one-year subscription to Prime ($99 value), so in all, you’re basically paying an extra $60 for the smartphone.
Some folks would say the device may not be worth the money, but considering this price point comes with a full year of Prime, we’d say it might be worth your while. It runs a heavily customized version of Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with a few arguably gimmicky features that many folks might not use too often. Even so, it comes with a 4.7-inch 720p display, a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB of on-board storage, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera and a 2400mAh battery.
While the specifications of the Fire Phone might not be worth $159, they’re certainly worth $59 with the added bonus of a Prime membership. There are plenty of ways to install Google Play Services on the device (even without rooting), which might make this a great option if you’re looking for a backup phone for emergency situations.
Taking into account all of the deals you might score during the upcoming Prime Day, this Fire Phone offer may be worth your consideration. If you’d like to take advantage of the deal or sign up for an Amazon Prime subscription, check out the links below.
