New Gmail update for Android brings a unified inbox, conversation view and much more

Google has just announced a new update to Gmail for Android that will make it easier to manage multiple accounts at one time, especially for folks who use non-Gmail accounts. Also in the update, Google has added improvements to the auto-complete feature when searching for keywords, more fluid animations and better Drive integration.
Most notably, Gmail is getting a unified inbox option witch will allow you to view all of your inboxes in one place – even for Yahoo and Outlook accounts. If you’d like to access the new feature, you’ll need to slide out the navigation drawer and select the “All Inboxes” option. Additionally, the new update brings the popular Conversation View feature to all of your connected Yahoo, Outlook and other IMAP/POP accounts.

Google has also improved the auto-complete feature when searching for keywords, which will allow you to find the correct email even faster. A few other fixes have made their way to Gmail, including more responsive animations when you open and close a conversation, larger attachment previews and the ability to save emails to Google Drive with just a single tap.
Google didn’t clarify when the update would begin rolling out, so it may be a few days before it makes its way to your device.

Turns out Verizon will carry the Galaxy S6 in gold after all
Fear not, lovers of gold technology, Verizon will carry the Galaxy S6 in gold alongside black and white.
While T-Mobile and AT&T had already committed to carrying three distinct colors of the Galaxy S6, Verizon was holding strong on simply offering the white and black models — until today, that is. Along with a reminder that it will begin taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge on April 1 (but this isn’t a joke), Verizon dropped the bit of news that the gold color option will be available right next to the other two colors.
ITC to investigate Apple in patent licensing dispute with Ericsson
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has decided to investigate Apple over a patent licensing dispute with Ericsson.
The dispute began in January when the two companies sued each other over patent licensing terms, with Apple claiming that Ericsson is demanding “excessive royalties” for patents related to LTE wireless technology.
As reported by PC World, the investigation by the ITC is the result of recent actions by Ericsson to escalate the issue and put pressure on Apple to settle. In late February, Ericsson filed seven new lawsuits against Apple, accusing the company of infringing on as many as 41 separate patents, with the end-goal being a sales ban on Apple products in the U.S..
Patent licensing disputes have become an increasingly common occurrence in the tech industry, and there’s no telling where the ITC will land with their decision in this particular case. However, with the ITC’s decision to investigate Apple, Ericsson’s appears to at least be succeeding in applying a bit of pressure on the tech giant.

Verizon updates the update to Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S 5
Over the weekend Verizon started to roll out the update to Android Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy S 5. This was welcome news to owners of the device who thought they were getting it back in February. However, after starting the process, Verizon pulled the update with no reason given, putting owners of the Galaxy S 5 back into waiting mode. Since resuming the update process, it appears Verizon has updated the update yet again based on changes to the build number.
The original update that started rolling out in February was G900VVRU1BNLC, which was replaced over this past weekend with G900VVRU1BOA4. A check of the most recent update announcement shows Verizon has now updated the build number to G900VVRU1BOC4. Given the minor change in the number, it seems likely that Verizon discovered some very small item that needed to be addressed once the update started hitting end users’ devices.
Along with the normal Lollipop updates, Verizon indicates the update includes bolder colors and more fluid animations as part of their TouchWiz interface and their specific apps now incorporate Material Design guidelines. Verizon also included specific updates to the Interruptions feature to help users get around some of the sound issues present in the initial release of Lollipop.
Owners of a Galaxy S 5 on Verizon can head over to http://www.verizonwireless.com/galaxys5software for instructions on downloading and installing the update if they do not want to wait for the OTA update to be available.
