T-Mobile’s March 18 Uncarrier event could have business implications

Late last week, T-Mobile sent out invites for a New York City event on March 18.

TMoNews has received information over time that T-Mobile is planning to bring its Un-carrier focus to the business market. A recent email to staff and some comments made by executives during a couple of earnings calls also suggest the company’s interest in this market. Therefore, it is likely that this event will cater to it.

The event begins at 1PM ET once again on March 18.

What is Google+, and who actually uses it?

Google’s plans for total web domination have been scaled back to a simple, powerful social network with no shortage of killer features.

Social behavior is a strangely integral part of the Internet as we know and use it today, and in many ways it has been from the very beginning. Message boards, IRC channels, image hosting sites, and email have always existed as important social components to the Internet. And in much the same way smartphones have pulled together many different single-purpose technologies into a single thought, social networks have come to exist as massive communication hubs that act for many people as the homepage of the Internet.

Google’s efforts in social networking are many, and while none of them has seen the kind of global acceptance that its search, video, and email services have enjoyed, Google’s most recent efforts in this space have advanced the state of the market in some unique ways. Google+ is, first and foremost, a platform focused on bringing all of Google together for users to enjoy. Whether that also means it’s a social network for everyone is for you to decide for yourself.

VSCO Cam version 3.2 update brings Copy + Paste photo editing functionality

VSCO Cam, the widely popular photo editing tool on Android and iOS, is receiving an update to version 3.2 today. The new update brings a few really handy features, including Copy + Paste batch photo editing capabilities, TIFF image support and a handful of bug fixes.

The biggest part of this update is the addition of Copy + Paste editing functionality. Before this update, if you had multiple photos to edit, you’d need to make changes to each one individually. Now you can copy and paste the exact edits you made to a single photo, and apply that to as many other photos as you’d like. If you’ve never used this feature in the past, it may take a little getting used to. So, here is a step-by-step walkthrough on how to make bulk edits in VSCO Cam:

  • In Library, select the image that contains the edits you wish to duplicate.
  • Tap the Copy + Paste button to copy the edit stack.
  • Select Copy Edit.
  • Select the photo or photos to which you want to apply the edits.
  • Tap the Copy + Paste button to apply the edit stack to your selected photo(s).
  • Select Paste Edit.
  • That’s it!

The VSCO Cam team also says editing times are dramatically decreased in this new update, so we’re sure all of these new improvements will be welcomed by fans of the photo editing service. If you’d like to try out the new features for yourself, head to the Google Play link below.

Lollipop spotted on Sony Xperia C3, but that doesn’t mean consumers will get it

sony_xperia_c3_lollipop_03

Over the weekend we reported on Sony’s apparent plans to release the Android Lollipop update to their Xperia Z series line of devices and only the Z series. This conclusion was based on the responses users on Twitter have been receiving from Sony’s support reps. Sony’s position seems to have taken a curious turn since then as some screenshots have popped up that appear to show Android Lollipop running on a Sony Xperia C3.

A few possibilities exist for what looks like contradictory information coming from Sony. The first, and probably preferable one for owners of Sony devices, is that the social media support reps for Sony are simply mistaken about the company’s plans for Lollipop on their devices. The reps may have been provided information about Lollipop on the Z series and somehow the communication was interpreted as the Z series were going to be the only set of devices to get the update. If that were the case though, it seems someone higher up in the Sony organization could have issued a statement to clarify things.

Another possibility is that Sony is still testing Lollipop on other devices in their portfolio and has not made a decision about an actual release. Sony could have tested Lollipop already and determined it would not roll out the update to the mid-tier and lower-tier devices they sold. The screenshots that were revealed could have been remnants from that testing process.

For now, owners of non-Z series Sony devices will have to continue to play a waiting game to see if they may eventually get an official Lollipop update on their devices.

Download Transformers for free on Google Play

Transformers is now available to download for free at the Google play store as part of their 3rd birthday.  All you have to do is head over to the Google play store and hit the purchase button in order to add it to your library.  You may need a valid credit card attached to your account, even though the movie is free.  There is also a wide variety of other titles on sale as part of the celebration, all of which are entertaining movies.  A couple of my favorites, The King’s Speech and Inception are both $2.99 to rent or $6.99 to own, a relative bargain for two highly entertaining movies.

Check out the deals here.

Apple TV gets a new price: $69

It’s been a long three years since Apple refreshed its streaming box, the Apple TV. And it looks like that won’t be changing anytime soon. That’s not to say the company has forgotten about the platform; in fact, since the last hardware update, Apple has made its set-top ecosystem more robust by adding a myriad of third-party entertainment apps, making the tiny box a must-have for most any living room. Today, at its highly anticipated “Spring forward” event, Apple announced that Apple TV will now start at $69, $30 less than its previous retail price.

How the Microsoft Band will beat Apple’s Watch

Am I really positing that the Microsoft Band will beat the Apple Watch? Yes, I am.

How will they accomplish this you ask? While Apple is diligently courting the elite, Microsoft is purposefully launching out into the deep, and they are aiming to commandeer the seas.

Today Apple is priming the masses for the Watch’s maiden journey into the “waters of wearables” (see our coverage on iMore). Microsoft by contrast is more subtly and methodically building a system to immerse itself in the developing currents that are directing the wearables market.
