In a sense, 3D printing as you know it is a lie — it’s really stacking a series of 2D layers on top of each other, rather than forming a single object. That’s where Carbon3D might come to the rescue. It just unveiled a 3D printing technique, Continuous Liquid Interface Production, that creates true, contiguous 3D items by blasting a resin pool with bursts of light (which hardens the resin) and oxygen (which keeps it in a liquid state). As the Washington Post notes, the approach both looks like and was inspired by the shapeshifting T-1000 robot in Terminator 2 — solid objects emerge out of an amorphous goo.
The unusual method isn’t just for show, of course. Since you don’t need to craft items layer-by-layer or worry about eliminating seams, you can print objects 25 to 100 times faster than usual; that figurine you want could be ready in minutes, not hours. Also, the smoother, stronger output is much better suited to real-world uses, such as irritation-free medical implants. There’s no mention of when Carbon3D’s technology will land in something you can buy, but the potential impact is huge. You could craft 3D-printed goods at home that are much closer to commercial quality, and you wouldn’t even have to wait long to hold the finished product in your hands.

Xiaomi today has announced a special edition version of their Mi Note phablet with a beautiful natural bamboo back. The silver trim and white front are great color compliments for the natural brown color of the bamboo. Every special edition Xiaomi Mi Note will be “specially tailored”, with no bamboo back looking 100% the same.
The special edition Xiaomi Mi Note is about 5 grams lighter due to the natural bamboo back. Internal specs will remain the same as the original Xiaomi Mi Note. This includes, but is not limited to, the Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz processor, Adreno 330 gpu, 3GB of ram and 16/32 GB of internal memory.
The device is slated to go on sale beginning on March 24th for RMB 2299, which is about 370 US dollars. Not a bad price for such a great looking device. As of right now there are no plans for the Bamboo Mi Note to hit US shelves, so for now you can only purchase the device in China. For more information regarding the special edition Mi Note, follow the link on the bottom for the official press release.

Sprint released a new promotion yesterday, and it is quite the deal. For 100 dollars a month, and no money down, users can pick up a Samsung Galaxy S5®, or a Samsung Galaxy S® 5 Sport as well as a Samsung Galaxy Tab® 4(7 inch version). The S5 is almost a year old now, but it can still hold its own quite well against the flagships of 2015 as it came with the best hardware available in the Spring of 2014. In addition to the Galaxy S5, customers will also get a Tab 4 with LTE, a mid-range tablet from Samsung.
For the Galaxy S5 customers will get unlimited talk, text, and high-speed data, and for the Tab 4 they will get 2GB of data per month which is enough to post about 5000 pictures to Facebook per month, if your heart so desires. According to Sprint, this deal should save its customers about 300 dollars a month.
As an AT&T user, I value having quality cellular reception over price, but I do love that Sprint and T-Mobile are forcing the big wireless providers to get more creative with their pricing in order to keep their customers.
Customers are required to sign a 2-year contract in order to qualify for this bundle.

Here’s a quick reminder to let you all know that registration has opened for Google I/O 2015. Beginning today (12PM EST) and running through 5PM (PDT) on March 19, you can sign up for a chance to attend the annual developer’s conference.
As was the case last year, this is a no-hassle, no-hurry way to get yourself signed up for the lottery. Tickets are $900 for the two day event; students can register for $300.
Should you not make the cut to attend in person, Google does a wonderful job of broadcasting the keynote and showcasing sessions over the few days. It’s not the same as being there in person, rubbing elbows and all, but it still allows for excellent know-how and insight into the future of Google endeavors.
Google has not yet outlined the schedule of events for the conference however we’re expecting plenty of coverage on Android, Android Wear, Android TV, Android Pay, Chrome OS, and a little bit of everything else. We’re also anxious to see whether Google is ready to pull the trigger on its “Project NOVA” MVNO plans.
If you’re ready to sign up for a chance to attend Google I/O 2015, head to the website between now and March 19 5:00PM PDT.

Remember that time when you couldn’t send a Hangouts message with Google Now? Me either. Well okay, you couldn’t last week. However, it won’t be long until we won’t be able to though, because it seems a recent update to Google Now enabled you to do this.
After activating Google Now voice, say “Send a Hangouts message”, and a dialog pulls up asking who you’d like to send it to, and then what the message is. You can also string everything together, such as “Send a Hangouts to Ryan message ‘I’ll see you later’” in order to send the message in one fell swoop.
This feature has been a long time coming, since you’ve been able to send a SMS, email, and other message with Google Now for a while. This is a much welcomed update!

In the past few years, we’ve seen more and more manufacturers publish their own apps to the Play Store, which allows them to easily update individual apps without the need to push out an entire software update to each device. Ahead of the upcoming One M9 launch, HTC has published three new apps to the Google Play Store which will not only be present on the One M9, but will be available for devices running Sense 7. HTC BoomSound Connect and HTC Connect will control connections through Bluetooth, DLNA, Miracast devices and AllPlay speakers. HTC Tasks has also been added, which is just the new version of the tasks app.
For starters, BoomSound Connect (pictured above) helps control connections to AllPlay speakers by acting as a remote to setup its Wi-Fi, choose different songs to play, and share songs to playlists. Judging by the screenshots, the app seems easy to control and fits in well with the Sense 7 design guidelines.

Next we have HTC Connect which, unlike BoomSound Connect that acts as a remote, allows your HTC device to stream music, photos and videos to connected devices like televisions and compatible audio systems. To activate Connect, you can swipe up from anywhere on the device with three fingers to bring up the menu. HTC Connect can be used with AllPlay, Blackfire, Bluetooth, DLNA and Miracast-compatible devices.

The updated HTC Tasks app looks similar to the Sense 6 version of the app. It still allows you to sync your device with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and Google accounts in order to keep your tasks up to date. That’s really all we have from this one so far, so we’ll need to wait awhile to see if HTC will sneak in any major enhancements alongside the launch of the M9.
For now, these apps are incompatible with all devices. That will surely change once the One M9 is out, and once older HTC devices begin to receive Sense 7.
Microsoft’s Halo: Nightfall miniseries is now available for rental or purchase from Xbox Video. Originally released in several episodes, Nightfall is being presented as a single movie, running 98 minutes. Nightfall follows the story of ONI agent Jameson Locke as he leads his team as they investigate terrorist activity on a colony world.
Almost two years ago Twitter tried to jump into the online music streaming market with their own Twitter Music offering, a platform that never took off and was eventually shut down. Twitter appears to be ready to give it another go with the addition of Rhapsody to their Twitter Audio Card feature. Rhapsody users can now share what they are listening to via Twitter and more importantly, followers can listen to the full song provided by the Rhapsody service as part of the partnership.
Twitter introduced their Audio Card feature last fall as a way to make it easier for users to access audio content. The technology enables content to be played from within the Twitter client, which makes it less likely users will abandon their timeline browsing if they are not popped out into a new app. Rhapsody is hoping users who see how convenient the service is to access via Twitter may decide to check out a Rhapsody subscription.
As part of the new partnership between Rhapsody and Twitter, Rhapsody obtained deals with music providers to ensure any titles in the 30 million song catalog could be played through the Twitter Audio Card, whether the person accessing it has a Rhapsody subscription or not.
When Twitter first introduced the Audio Cards, Soundcloud was the only partner announced at the time. Although Rhapsody only boasts about 2.5 million subscribers, a far cry from a service like Spotify with 60 million paid users, this is still a nice addition for Twitter.
