Notti and Dotti light up a room with notifications and music

Notti and Dotti, two new smart lights from WITTI, are now available worldwide. When connected to your iPhone or Android device, the lights can provide notification alerts, respond to music, and more.

Notti is a portable LED light that can be used to display notifications from your phone. Through the Notti app, you can select color and notification preferences. You can also choose how the light will respond to music.

Dotti is inspired by pixel art, and is made up of a grid of lights. As with Notti, you can use Dotti to alert you to notifications on your phone. When a notification comes in, the light will display the icon corresponding to the notification. Dotti can also function as a clock, and has its own music visualizer mode.

Both Notti and Dotti feature built-in rechargeable batteries. WITTI says the battery will last five hours with continuous use, or up to 30 days on standby. Notti is available for $59.99, while Dotti costs $79.99. Both lights are available for purchase from WITTI now. You can get their apps on the App Store now.

Press release:

Unlike traditional smart lights that simply set the mood, Notti and Dotti not only enhance ambiance but also inform users of incoming calls, texts, social media updates, emails, appointments and much more.

“With introduction of Notti and Dotti, our goal was to create unique smart solutions that combine mood lighting, design, and notifications into a minimal package with fine detailing,” said WITTI CEO, Alfred Wong. “Using smart design and unique shapes, we were able to develop products that become as much sculptural as functional.”

Notti is a portable, simple to use LED light that is designed fit anywhere in the home or office, and looks elegant when turned on or off. Notti will also display customized smartphone notifications from a diverse catalogue of 16 million vibrant colors. Simply select a color to associate with each notification via free app and pair to smartphone through Bluetooth Smart BLE technology.

Nott’s mood light can quickly set the scene and in music mode the light will dance to rhythm of your favorite songs. Notti’s alarm mode is the perfect solution for users who prefer to be woken up through gradual lighting. Enter your desired wake up time and Notti’s LEDs will slowly brighten to help you feel rested and rejuvenated as you start your day. Click here to see Notti in action.

Design is a huge aspect of everything WITTI does and works with artists to create unique products with a subtle presence. Each product is inspired by geometric shapes, with a stylish design that is simple to use, WITTI calls this “POLYGONIC.” Design also played a huge role in the development of Notti’s packaging as the outer box can easily be reconfigured into a fashionable stand for any mobile device.

AT&T Galaxy Note 4 now receiving Lollipop update

Galaxy Note 4 Verizon-8

Last month the Galaxy Note 4 started to receive Lollipop in select international markets, and earlier this month US owners on Sprint’s network also saw an update to Google’s sweet treat. On the heels of the Now Network, A&T is now rolling out Android 5.0.1 to the Galaxy Note 4.

As is typical, expect the update to roll out in stages, and so it may not be waiting for you just yet, even if you have an AT&T Note 4. If the update is ready, keep in mind that the update’s download speed is reportedly very slow, for whatever reason, and so it may take hours for the update to complete.

So what’s new here in this 1.1GB file? Like we’ve seen from other Samsung devices, material design elements from Lollipop are much less noticeable than they would be on a stock Android device. That said, there’s still plenty of changes such as brighter colors, an updated multitasking interface, a new lockscreen, Lollipop’s priority system and a number of bug fixes. Of course, Lollipop also introduces plenty of new bugs of its own that Android 5.1 aims to fix, but that’s a whole other story.

Have you managed to get your hands on the Note 4 AT&T Lollipop update yet? If so, what do you think so far?

MetroPCS debuts $30 rate plan with unlimited talk, text, and data

30-rate-plan-metropcs

T-Mobile and MetroPCS on Tuesday announced a new promotional rate plan for its prepaid customer base with a very affordable monthly fee. Starting immediately, customers can take advantage of a $30 option which includes unlimited talk, text, and 1GB of high speed data.

Although the plan includes 1GB worth of 4G data customers do actually receive or have access to unlimited data. Once the threshold is reached the speeds are simply throttled back for the remainder of the month.

Anyone with a MetroPCS phone can jump on the new plan; both 3G and 4G handsets are eligible for the promotion. According to MetroPCS, the promotion plan is only available in stores and that LTE phones are not eligible.

It’s not clear how long the deal will last or if this is an ongoing option.

Moto X gets new action, ‘chop twice for flashlight’, in Android 5.1 update

Moto_G_2014_2nd_Gen_Back_Slanted_Camera_Lens_Motorola_Logo_TA

Moto X just loves providing the simple but very useful stuff don’t they? And there is nothing wrong with that because we love it. The QuickCapture double twist gesture is just one example as you can start the Camera app with a simple double twist of your wrist.

Now Motorola is adding another action (in the Android 5.1 update) that will allow you to quickly open the flashlight by moving your phone twice in a chopping motion. Google had already added a quick way to open the flashlight through the Quick Settings, but this is just one extra way to do it. It should work even when the phone’s display is turned off, making this even quicker.

You will find the setting for “chop twice for flashlight” in the Moto app under Actions. Just make sure it’s enabled. Again, this is only for the Android 5.1 update, which for now, is only on the Pure Edition Moto X 2014. We expect this update to hit other carrier versions soon.

Foldable displays from Samsung coming in 2016, LG in 2017

Samsung-flexible-display-promo-image-001

It has been reported in the past that Samsung has been working on a foldable display, and it looks like it’s on track for next year. In fact, some believe we might see them in tablet form by the end of this year.

Samsung isn’t the only company working on such displays as LG is too, but they are targeting 2017.

LG is also spending a considerable amount of resources on transparent displays. These types of display are already in use, but not at the consumer level. Unfortunately no target was set as to when we will see them come to market.
