Balloon Sucker – a colorful arcade game for Windows Phone

Balloon Sucker is an arcade styled Windows Phone game where you are challenged to match colored balloons that are rising from the ground with the matching colored cloud. The concept sounds easy but the balloons are not always cooperative.

Available for low-memory Windows Phones, Balloon Sucker has potential and may only be held back by an annoying full-screen ad. We were tipped on the game and after playing it over the past few days, Balloon Sucker comes across as a decent Windows Phone game.

BBM for iPhone now lets users pay to remove ads and get a custom PIN

BlackBerry has released an update for the iPhone version of its BBM messaging app. The new version includes paid subscription options to get rid of ads and more.

For 99 cents a month, BBM users won’t see any ads in their feed, and also won’t get any sponsored invites from third parties. For $1.99 a month, users can also create a custom PIN. Here’s how that will work:

With a Custom PIN subscription you can make a PIN that’s easy for you and your friends to remember and/or says something special about you. Custom PINs have to follow certain guidelines. They must be 6-8 characters long, and can include numbers and letters only. Special characters cannot be used and PINs are not case sensitive.

Some of the other new features in this 2.7.0.69 update include being able to lock BBM with a passcode and Touch ID. Users can now share photos directly in group chats and there’s also a way to delete chats by swiping. In addition, the app includes landscape support for the first time.

Samsung could start offering Marvel themed Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge accessories

gs6avengers

According to a new report, Samsung will offer some exclusive Marvel themed cases for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Some renders of these cases give us an idea of how this arrangement might work, although it’s far from the real deal, at least at this point.

We know about Marvel’s partnership with Samsung which involves a bunch of handy accessories which are going to be displayed in the upcoming Avengers film. So it is possible that this is an extension of that and Marvel/Samsung can leverage the hype generated by the film and launch accessories themed as either one of the Avengers.

The renders are available for all the main characters including Black Widow, Nick Fury, Hawkeye etc. It does seem like a great idea to cash in on the popularity of the franchise. But whether Samsung will actually bring these accessories to the market is only for time to answer.

How to turn off your iPhone if your Lock button doesn’t work

If your iPhone’s sleep/wake button stops working, here’s how to power it down with AssistiveTouch!

The iPhone only has two main buttons, the Lock (sleep/wake) button, and the Home button. Day in and day out we use these two buttons constantly. So what happens if one of them fails? In this case, a reader asked how they can completely power down their iPhone if their Lock button has stopped working. AssistiveTouch doesn’t make it very obvious, but you actually can power down your iPhone with it. Follow along and I’ll show you how!

This how-to is part of our iOS Help feature, where every week I try and help you fix the problems you’re having with your iPhones and iPads. If you have a question or need help with something iOS related that you just can’t figure out, I encourage you to drop a question in our iMore forums, no registration required, or send me an email at ioshelp@imore.com

If you’re under warranty — all iPhones come with a 1 year warranty against defects — we would recommend visiting an Apple Store and having them correct the issue free of charge. If you’re out of warranty and have some DIY skills, you can always fix the broken button yourself too. We’ve got the guides to walk you through step by step:

Apple is aware of a particularly nasty issue with the iPhone 5 Power button that causes it to fail more often than normal. They’ve issued a replacement program for these affected units. You can hit the following link to see if your iPhone 5 is covered:

Regardless of your particular situation, the following steps will allow you to not only Lock the screen on your iPhone, but power it completely down until you can properly address the issue.

How to power down your iPhone if your Lock button doesn’t work

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Tap on Accessibility.
  4. Tap on AssistiveTouch.
  5. Turn On the option for AssistiveTouch.
  6. A new circle button will appear on your screen. Tap on it.
  7. In the popup menu, tap on Device.
  8. Press and hold on the option for Lock screen.
  9. The Slide to Power Off dialog will appear and you can slide your finger to power down your iPhone.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 leaks out sporting a larger display

redminote2

Chinese juggernaut Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 2 handset earlier today. It seems like the company is also gearing up for the launch of a bigger version of its Redmi Note phablet from last year. The revelation was made by a new leak from China.

It is said that the display on this smartphone could stretch up to 5.7 inches, which is the same size as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The device is also expected to be packing a Snapdragon 615 octa core SoC, 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE and Android 4.4.4 KitKat with MIUI version 6.

It is also said that the device will sport a 4,000 mAh battery, which is fitting for a device of that size. But since there’s no confirmation of this yet, we urge you to take it with a pinch of salt.

The leak further hints at the possibility of the manufacturers launching a 3G variant of the smartphone, probably with a lower price tag and a MediaTek chip. Pricing details are not available yet, but expect both variants to be somewhere under the range of $200.
