LG aiming for 10 million G4 sales this year

The critically acclaimed G2 and G3 boosted LG to success in the flagship smartphone market and LG is aiming to continue this upward trend with the G4, which is set to launch in mid-April. The company wants to sell 10 million G4s come the end of 2015.
For comparison, the LG G3 has so far sold somewhere between 6 and 7 million smartphones since its début in May 2014, according to LG’s mobile chief Cho Juno. This year, the company is looking to boost flagship smartphones sales by around 30 percent and wants to reclaim its position ahead of fast growing, low-cost Chinese smartphones brands.
“LG Electronics aims to achieve the 10 million sales target of the G4 smartphone, which will be unveiled next month. Specifications of the G4 and changes we’ve made had been briefed to top outlet channels and European carriers during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) fair”
This might seem like a tall order, given the praise currently being dished out to the Samsung Galaxy S6. Unusually, even Cho praised the Galaxy S6, stating that it impressed LG’s top management. However, LG itself has said that it has put a lot of resources into the G4 and seems to have a few changes in the pipeline. Although specifications are still being kept tightly under wraps.
LG also has another flagship in the works for the second half of the year, which will apparently be a cut above the G series. We’ll have to see if this handset frustrates the G4’s sales target or if the two can stand side-by-side.

The Huawei Watch will cost $1000, according to premature Amazon posting
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: the Huawei Watch is a beautiful smartwatch. Despite its beauty, however, we’ve recently been hearing that the device is going to cost around $1000, which when compared to existing smartwatches, is a gargantuan sum of money. And this has seemingly been reinforced today by an Amazon listing […]

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets rake in over 20 million pre-orders
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge handsets were only unveiled just over a week ago (March 1st) at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but that hasn’t stopped Samsung’s latest Galaxy flagships from raking in over 20 million pre-orders. That’s a decent chunk of change, especially when the entry-level S6 is priced at €700 ($761) while the S6 Edge, that won the MWC’s award for Best New Device, commands a higher price of €850 ($924). This should go some way to helping Samsung’s share price recover from its 3-year low.
An executive said that the unnamed carrier he works for had come away with a positive impression of both the Galaxy S6 variants, going on to state that:
“Samsung received some 20 million pre-orders for the S6 and S6 Edge – 15 million of S6 and 5 million of the S6 Edge from mobile carriers. This is the record.”
The fact that the Edge has received 5 million pre-orders means that smartphones with curved displays are no longer just niche devices like the Note Edge is. Many manufacturers would be extremely happy to get 5 million pre-orders for a flagship handset. It should be noted that the 20 million pre-orders placed by the carriers is an estimate of how many handsets they will sell and not firm orders placed by consumers.

HTC One M9’s leaked price and release date will give you deja vu
If you were still picking sides following the launch of HTC’s One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6, there’s now a bit more to work with. Retailer B&H Electronics has (accidentally?) revealed that a 32GB flavor of the HTC One M9 will start shipping on March 25th for $649. That’s the exact same price (and release date) as last year’s look-alike model and a good chunk less than the Galaxy S6 is expected to cost. That said, you’ll also need to weigh factors like Exynos versus Snapdragon CPUs and all-metal versus glass-and-metal designs. The listing could also be inaccurate or premature, so we wouldn’t count on the pricing or date without official word from HTC.
