HTC One M9 officially announced with 20MP camera and Snapdragon 810
This morning, at least stateside, HTC announced the HTC One M9. Previous leaks were all pretty spot on. The new flagship from the Taiwanese manufacturer carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64-bit processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB on board storage, Micro SD card slot, a 5-inch 1080p display and a 20MP camera and is all […]

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge receives Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update in Australia

Another day, another Samsung handset receives an Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update. Today it is the turn of the Galaxy Note Edge (SM-N915G), which has begun receiving its Lollipop OTA update in Australia.
The update weighs in at a hefty 1018.12 MB, but does come with Samsung’s new Material Design inspired user interface, new notification and multitasking systems, Smart Lock, and a host of other improvements to performance and battery life. If you haven’t seen Lollipop running on the Galaxy Note Edge yet, you can check out the leaked details that appeared earlier in the month.
Australians who haven’t received an update notification yet can force a manual check through Settings > About phone > Software update. If you know what you’re doing, SamMobile also has the firmware available for download, which can then be flashed with Odin.
The update should be heading out to other regions in the coming weeks as well.
Samsung releases second Galaxy S6 teaser video

A few days ago, Samsung released its first teaser video for the upcoming Galaxy S6, which was all about the handset’s camera, and the company has just tweeted its second of such videos. This time the video is all about speed – I think.
Again, we aren’t treated to any sneak peeks and there aren’t any features mentioned by name. However, it’s almost inevitable that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will boast cutting edge processor technology come its release. Samsung recently announced a revised, more energy efficient 14nm Exynos 7 Octa, which would be right on the “speed” message of the video. Similarly, if the reduced bloatware rumors turn out to be true, the Galaxy S6’s software may also be leaner and nippier this time around.

Earlier today, Samsung also talked about future support for multiple wireless charging standards. Although the Galaxy S6 wasn’t mentioned by name, the post heavily suggested that the S6 would be one of the company’s first handsets to feature support for multiple wireless charging technologies.
After the first video, we are also pretty sure that camera technology will again be an important feature in the Galaxy S6. Samsung’s executives have promised intelligent camera technology and the company recently published an infographic about the evolution of its camera technology.
What do you think about the latest teaser? Are you excited to see what the Galaxy S6 has to offer?
Dolby’s all-encompassing Atmos sound comes to virtual reality
Virtual reality thrives on immersive sound, so it only makes sense that audio format makers should get involved, doesn’t it? Dolby certainly thinks so. It’s partnering with Jaunt to put its cinematic Atmos sound into VR content, starting with snippets from the horror-laden Black Mass, the giant monster short Kaiju Fury and a Sir Paul McCartney concert. While it’s a modest start, the hope is that this ultra-precise positioning will both be more engaging and let VR movie producers rely more on audible cues to get your attention — a snapping twig may be all it takes to have you look at the scary beast lurking in the bushes. You probably wouldn’t want to buy an Atmos-capable system just for the sake of VR when there’s hardly anything to watch right now, but it’s something to consider if you take your virtual video experiences very seriously.

HTC One M9 vs. LG G3
In terms of power, the One M9 is the clear winner with the new Snapdragon chip capable of 64-bit processing and new graphics chip, and HTC looks like it has made some impressive modifications to Android 5.0 Lollipop, with heavy customization options, including the ability to edit icons to your preference, which only third-party launchers have done in the past. HTC is looking to hold the crown for best camera, but LG has optical image stabilization on its side, which HTC unfortunately did not include. Battery life could be very close, but because the One M9 has a smaller screen with lower resolution, they promise 21 hours of talk time, which could mean very impressive battery results in other activities as well.
What do you guys think? Does anyone still have their eyes on the G3, or does the M9 destroy just about everything?

In true Verizon fashion, the HTC One M9 will be available with two sizeable logos on its rear. Big Red confirmed the One M9 on its network by posting an image of handset on Twitter. As you can see in the image above, both Verizon and 4G LTE logos are stamped. The carrier will also include its LTE logo in the status bar and plenty of bloatware such as the Verizon Messages app.
