Media Browser for Windows 8.1 updated with sync and offline support
Media Browser for Windows 8.1 got an update this week that adds, among other things, sync and offline support. Both of these features will be added to the Windows Phone and other versions of the app in the future.
ICYMI: February 28, 2015
A lot can happen in a week. New apps join the Windows Phone Store or Windows Store. Your favorite apps can get a big update with a new look or new features. Device rumors come and go. Seven days might not seem like much, but it can be an eternity in the tech news cycle.
Every week we’re going to compile the biggest stories into one post, so you never fall behind – In Case You Missed It (ICYMI).
HTC One (M9) compared to One (M7), One (M8) in hands on video
This is definitely not what HTC wanted to happen the day before its MWC 2015 event. A press member with early access to the device posted a hands on video with the One (M9) being compared to its predecessors. The video does not show or reveal anything we have not heard already; therefore, all it is really good for is seeing the One (M9) in a few more angles.

The HTC One (M9), along with any other products from the company, will be announced during a press event held at 10:00AM EST.

Design firm wants this round wooden phone to be your family heirloom
See that wooden round thing above? That’s a smartphone — a real, working smartphone with a high-res screen and a camera, and not just a concept that will never come to life. Just imagining how to take calls on it without a headset or how to access websites on it is giving us a headache, but it’s sure a good way to stand out in a world dominated by rectangular devices. This circular oddity is called the Runcible, and San Francisco design firm Monohm modeled it after pocket watches and compasses: items it says we humans have been carrying with us for ages.
This probably isn’t something that could compete with iPhones and Nexus or Galaxy devices, but it doesn’t sound like Monohm is expecting to sell millions anyway. According to its website, it sees itself as a maker “of heirloom electronics and technology.” In fact, Runcible was designed with replaceable components, presumably so your kids can upgrade it long after you’re gone. The device does have LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth connections, but it won’t keep you updated with the latest work emails. It doesn’t beep or notify you of anything, and it wasn’t even meant to run apps, even if it’s loaded with a modified version of Firefox OS. (The company hints that it can be used as an IoT controller, though.)

You can see the Runcible in person at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in early March if you can’t wait until its official release in late 2015. Also, you can sign up to pre-order right now if you don’t mind that it doesn’t have a price yet. The company says it will cost as much as a “premium, unlocked smartphone purchase.” Yup, it’s not coming with a contract, unless you’re in Japan (where it will be released via KDDI), and, to note, the cheapest unlocked iPhone 6 costs at least $649.

How to use your Android to prepare for severe weather
Severe weather takes many forms.
Blizzards, hurricanes, tornadoes, even haboobs can turn a regular day into a disaster, and if you’re not prepared, it can turn from disastrous to downright dangerous. While you’re stocking up the liquor cabinet, boarding up the windows, and collecting the games/movies from around the house to keep any little ones happy and distracted, don’t forget to prepare your phone for the rough road to come. There’s a lot more to preparing your phone for severe weather than just charging it up.
Be prepared.
New Android Wear-powered Huawei Watch shown off in two promo videos

Huawei has plans to unveil their first Android Wear-powered smartwatch, the Huawei Watch, at MWC 2015. Ahead of the company’s press event which will be held Sunday, March 1st, Huawei has released two new promotional videos showcasing the new watch. The videos were just recently posted on the company’s YouTube channel. The first, entitled “Huawei Watch: The timeless design story” features a few Huawei execs explaining their ideas behind the design of the watch. The second video, and arguably the cheesier of the two, is called “Huawei Watch: Your Ultimate Companion to Make It Possible”. This video shows a man trekking through the wilderness to catch up with his friends, Huawei Watch in tow.
Just based off of the promotional materials we’ve seen so far, this Huawei Watch may be the most attractive smartwatch out there. Performance aside the Watch has a small, completely round display, minimal bezels, a heart rate sensor, a sapphire display and interchangeable leather and metal straps. It seems to be less bulky than the Motorola Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R while still featuring a round display. But of course, performance will play a big role in whether or not the Watch is worth buying.
We don’t have any information on the exact specifications, price or release date quite yet, so we’ll have to wait until Sunday to get more information. While we wait, check out the two promo videos below to see if you’d consider this watch over the competition.
