8.9-inch Eee Pad tablet leaks, Asus looking to dominate every mark on the ruler?
Okay ASUS, you win. We can’t keep all your leaked Eee Pad prototypes straight anymore. We’re guessing this is some sort of counter-intelligence move you’re making, leaking report after conflicting report of various sizes and operating systems for the things, and now we have word of yet another model joining the hypothetical fray. This one’s supposedly called the EP90, an 8.9-inch tablet with a 1024 x 600 display, storage of 16 or 32GB, a dual-core 1GHz processor paired with Tegra graphics and, apparently, some flavor if Microsoft Windows if reports of it running Office are to be believed. Beyond that, Ynet is also saying there’s a 12-inch tablet model on the way, which either proves the company’s disinformation plot or confirms that the Eee Pad lineup is about to get as confusing as the Eee PC series is today.
Eken Launches 8″ M005 Android Tablet
Looks like this tiny little Shanzhen company isn’t quitting, they started making some headway in the global market when their 7 inch tablet got rebranded by a few global players. Now it seems that are coming to market with the M005 measuring in at 8 inches and running a 400MHz VIA 8505 CPU, and 128MB of memory, which doesn’t have us reaching for our pocketbooks.
The tablet has an 800 x 600 pixel display, 802.11b/g/ WiFi, and 2GB of flash storage. It has an SD card slot, USB port, headphone jack, and webcam. It is also running a 4:3 aspect ratio which is a little unique in the tablet space. The folks over at Shanzai.com have let us know that is going to be running Android 1.6 rather then the rumored 2.1.
Sharp Launches 5.5″ and 10.8″ Galapagos E-Reading Tablets
Sharp Corporation announced that they will release a media service business, named GALAPOS, specially created to provide users a new network service and device specifically designed for the Japanese market.
Find out that two compatible tablets have been created as e-book readers and will be introduced in the same time. The great news is that the new e-bookstore will feature an ‘Automatic Scheduled Delivery Service’ for periodical publications. E-book users may read the most recent editions of newspapers and magazines, which they have been subscribed.
Sharp has built two models of the e-book readers: a mobile version featuring a 5.5-inch LCD screen that reads like a paperback book, and a home version featuring a 10.8-inch high-resolution HD LCD, allowing users to read from a two-page spread.
The great news is that Sharp will continue to provide updates through the service, and by increasing the functions of compatible terminal devices.
Samsung Galaxy Tab on sale on November 1
Need some hot new hardware to offset the onset of another miserly winter? Samsung wants the Galaxy Tab to be the thing that keeps you warm and fuzzy over the holidays and has just announced a November 1 launch date for its tablet in the United Kingdom. All major carriers are signed up to offer the Android 2.2 device and usual suspect Carphone Warehouse will also be dishing it out if you have the cash to snap one up. How much cash, you ask? That’s the one important piece of information that Samsung is still leaving to hang in the air, proffering only the contention that it “will be available on a range of attractive price packages.” Never mind, we’ll just let our imaginations do the accounting.

RIM introduces PlayBook – the BlackBerry tablet
Today at Research In Motion’s developer event, Mike Lazaridis introduced the company’s new tablet — the PlayBook. The device will sport a Cortex A9, 1GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 7-inch display, webOS-like app switching, an e-reader component, full document editing, and pairing with BlackBerry phones. The device will be capable of 1080p HDMI video and will have HDMI and USB ports, a front and rear HD camera configuration, and will be 9.7mm thick. The PlayBook’s interface is based on a platform designed by QNX, just as we’d heard previously, and will be called the BlackBerry Tablet OS. The device will apparently be available in “early 2011,” but there was no mention of a retail price. The PlayBook will have full OpenGL and POSIX support, and RIM seems to have its eye set firmly on capturing a gamer market, stating “This is going to be an incredible gaming platform for publishers and the players.” Lazaridis also called the slate “the first professional tablet,” and “an amplified view of what’s already on your BlackBerry.” The device will connect via Bluetooth to BlackBerry devices, though the content is cached only temporarily on the PlayBook — kind of like the… Foleo. More info is coming our way as we type, and we’ve got a full feature list, press release, and video after the break!

10-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab coming in 2011?
This one has been grinding around the Samsung rumour mill for a while, but on Saturday Sammy apparently let slip that we can expect a bigger, 10″ version of its upcoming Galaxy Tab some time in the first half of 2011.
Samsung announced earlier this month that it had plans to release a whole host of different sized tablets in the coming months, with head of global sales and marketing, DJ Lee, saying: “people have different desires, so we are definitely going to have different sizes of tablets.”
Samsung also confirmed that they will be releasing tablets in different price ranges, with the current pre-order price for the 7″ Galaxy Tab hovering at around £600.
The new 10″ Galaxy Tab will be released in the Gingerbread (or Android 3.0, to non-Androiders) era of first-half 2011, so smart money’s on it running the updated OS, rather than the current 7″ Galaxy’s Android 2.2 Froyo.
The current incarnation of the Galaxy Tab (the 7″ version) is available for pre-order ahead of its release this November, boasting a Super TFT screen, front and back-facing cameras and the ability to make calls and send texts.
