Leaked T-Mobile ad suggests it’ll pay for families to leave its rivals
When T-Mobile USA CEO John Legere isn’t busy getting himself kicked out of an AT&T party, he’s likely putting the finishing touches to his own CES announcement. Rumors have suggested that T-Mobile will soon make it easier for consumers to switch to the UnCarrier from rival operators, and a banner ad spotted by Droid Life suggests its willing to put its hand in its pocket to do so. The advertisement, which briefly appeared on T-Mobile’s website before it was unceremoniously pulled, says the operator will “pay your family’s termination fees when you trade in your devices,” countering AT&T’s promotion that gives T-Mobile customers up to $450 if they switch to its NEXT plan.
T-Mobile’s small-print says it’ll accept ports from AT&T, Verizon or Sprint customers and transfer up to five lines. While the initiative appears costly, it’ll look to recoup its outgoings by requiring new customers to trade in their existing smartphone and choose a new phone offered on its UnCarrier plans. Droid Life indicates that the T-Mobile will likely limit the amount it is willing to pay — we expect Legere and co. to confirm payment caps and all the other details at its UnCarrier 4.0 event when it kicks off at 12:30PM PT.

T-Mobile CEO “crashes” AT&T party in Las Vegas
The ongoing battle between AT&T and T-Mobile took a turn for the interesting last night as the Uncarrier’s CEO made his way into Ma Bell’s Las Vegas party. Saying he was only there to “see Macklemore” perform, John Legere ultimately found himself being escorted out of the show.
All of a sudden these gigantic goons said ‘Can I talk to you over here,’ Legere said, in an interview outside the Venetian hotel later on Monday, adding that he was told that if he didn’t leave immediately he would be charged with trespassing. Legere said he was also escorted from the premises.
Legere seems quite content in his role of throwing rocks at the giant of AT&T. He’s never been shy about calling them out on Twitter; commercials, marketing, and other media focuses its laser on AT&T more than othe carriers.
Ran into @JohnLegere at the AT&T party. Yep, he crashed it. And still wearing the pink t-mo shirt. #CES2014 pic.twitter.com/gy9vGTJUEW

While we would love to believe Legere’s claim that he was there for the music, something smells really fishy. One doesn’t go to a concert and then take pictures with people like Roger Cheng of CNET without risking exposure and a potential storm. Either way, he’s a ballsy guy and we applaud his efforts in the mobile space. If anything, he keeps it fun and fresh and increasingly better for the consumer.

T-Mobile announces the LG G-Flex
Today, we talk about the LG G-Flex. Since it’s announcement, it’s not been officially available in the US, until now that is. T-Mobile announces today the availability of the G-Flex. There wasn’t much news that came along with the announcement, like a price or availability date, but those are said to be coming within the next few weeks.
What do you think about T-Mobile? Are they making waves in the mobile industry? Is the G-Flex enough to make you switch? It’s enough to make me want to switch, if only I wasn’t locked into a contract with AT&T! What about you? Let us know in the comments below!
T-Mobile Confirms LG G Flex
T-Mobile is ringing in the New Year by further expanding its ever-growing 4G LTE smartphone line-up with the addition of the world’s first curved, flexible smartphone[1] from LG Electronics – the LG G Flex. T-Mobile customers can get the G Flex with the Simple Choice Plan, which offers unlimited talk, text and Web as well as unlimited text and data in 100+ countries – at no extra charge – all with no annual service contract on the fastest nationwide 4G LTE network[2].
The LG G Flex offers T-Mobile customers a more reassuring grip and fit as well as an outstanding voice and sound experience because the distinctively curved design follows the contour of the face. The ultra-thin, ultra-light, flexible 6-inch Plastic OLED display is brighter and more precise making it ideal for watching videos or playing games on-the-go. The G Flex also features the Rear Key control for convenience of using one index finger to power the device on or off and adjust volume. It also has self-healing paint on the G Flex back cover that LG says is designed to help recover from the wear and tear of daily use, including scratches from keys[3]. The advanced smartphone features a 13MP HD camera to capture crisp, detailed, high-quality images and videos. In addition, the LG G Flex includes the world’s first curved battery technology for a smartphone with a capacity of 3,500 mAh for power, sleek design and comfort in the palm of your hand. The new smartphone will include LG-exclusive features such as KnockON(TM), Slide Aside(TM) and Qslide Function, allowing customers to perform several tasks simultaneously. G Flex will also introduce new features such as QuickTheater(TM), which can give users virtually instant access to entertainment apps for the ultimate cinematic viewing experience on the curved smartphone; and Dual Window, which divides the wide 6-inch screen into two separate windows for more efficient multitasking.
Pricing and availability for the G Flex will be shared in the coming weeks.
[1] The flexibility of this product is limited. This phone may be bent flat up to 180 degrees for a limited period of time only. Do not bend inward or twist.
[2] Based on download speeds.
[3] Intended for minor scratches and surface damage caused by ordinary and normal use of the phone only. Not all damage is repairable. Results may vary.
T-Mobile confirms upcoming availability of LG G Flex
T-Mobile on Monday announced that the LG G Flex will be coming to the Uncarrier’s network in the future. As to exactly when remains unclear. Also uncertain, the price. Yes, this press release merely confirms that the curved smartphone is headed to T-Mobile at some point. The key features of this model are that it features a curved display, curved battery, and a self healing back. T-Mobile promises better coverage after spending $2.4 billion on spectrum from Verizon
T-Mobile has just made a big move to improve its coverage by purchasing a large swath of 700MHz A-Block spectrum from Verizon for nearly $2.4 billion in cash. T-Mob — which has been in a buying mood lately — said the deal will will help improve its coverage for 158 million people in 21 of the top 30 US markets, including New York, LA, Atlanta and Dallas. The so-called low-band spectrum has a greater range than more common high-band frequencies, which will be particularly useful for T-Mob in the surrounding areas of large cities. As part of the deal, it’ll also transfer $950 million worth of spectrum to Verizon in several markets, mostly in northern California and Atlanta. Don’t get excited about having better 4G coverage just yet, though — the deal’s still subject to regulatory approval from the FCC and DoJ, which could take some time.

T-Mobile CEO resolves to transform industry in 2014
T-Mobile’s CEO, John Legere, has taken to Twitter again vowing that T-Mobile’s transformation is far from over. In the picture above you see Legere’s handwritten resolutions from 2013 and the new resolutions for 2014. However, there is a shift in title from “Shake up the wireless industry” to “Transform the wireless industry”, which include 5 topics:
- Continue to remove customer pain points
- 4G LTE – go faster, go LOUD
- Un-shackle the family from those other guys
- Make waves at CES 2014
- Give AT&T a break… or not
Certainly my favorite is the last one, even if you’re not a customer of either one, it is still entertaining to see T-Mobile and AT&T battle it out. The most recent battle between the two is currently going on as we speak, where AT&T is offering T-Mobile customers up to $450 per line to switch carriers.
T-Mobile was certainly on fire in 2013 by “Shaking” things up in the wireless industry with their no contract plans and lower prices. Hopefully, we will see more transformations that will keep customers happy and change the way other providers do business! Let us know what you think!

AT&T will give you up to $450 to leave T-Mobile
AT&T is clearly worried that T-Mobile’s recent success may be coming at its own expense — it just launched a promotion that gives T-Mobile customers up to $450 to switch to Big Blue. The deal offers converts a minimum of $200 once they’ve subscribed to a smartphone plan, plus up to $250 more if they trade in an existing phone. There’s no mention of when the promo will end, although it’s described as a “limited time” offer. The deal may be tempting if you’re already inclined to jump ship, although you’ll want to do the math before you leave. While AT&T will now cut your bill when off-contract, T-Mobile’s contract-free rates could be lower depending on the device you buy; it may be cheaper in the long run.

AT&T offering T-Mobile customers up to $450 per line to switch carriers
AT&T offers a combination of trade in rebates and credits to lure T-Mobile subscribers
AT&T on Friday announced a new incentive plan that could significantly affect T-Mobile’s customer base.
Beginning today, January 3 and running for a limited time, customers switching from T-Mobile to AT&T and receive a card worth up to $250. Said card could then be used for AT&T products or services. Additionally, those customers can score another $200 credit for transferring a line of service to AT&T. All that’s required here is that you choose an Next plan, buy a device at full retail or activate a device you already own.
In addition to a larger and more reliable 4G LTE network, T-Mobile customers who switch to AT&T will benefit from a superior smartphone line-up and award-winning customer service.
It is not immediately clear how long this promotion will last nor whether it will change once T-Mobile announces their counter attack. The Uncarrier is set to announce its 4.0 initiative at CES in the coming days. If ever there was a time to be a customer on one of these carriers, it’s now.
