T-Mobile enables 700MHz support for multiple Android devices
T-Mobile has announced it has expanded 4G LTE coverage for its customers. Now, its users with devices compatible with the 700MHz network band can get an increase in data speeds when accessing LTE.
As of now, the compatible phones are the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 4 Edge, Nexus 6, ZTE ZMAX, Galaxy Avant, and Sony Xperia Z3. The compatible tablets and devices are the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, and the T-Mobile 4G LTE HotSpot Z915.

Famous person Kim Kardashian is starring in T-Mobile‘s latest ad, talking about her passion for selfies and how millions of gigs of unused data are taken back by wireless companies each month. CyanogenMod 12 now available for Galaxy Note 4 on Sprint and T-Mobile
If you’ve got your hands on Samsung’s latest Note device, the Galaxy Note 4 from Sprint or T-Mobile, but were hoping for a different software experience, Cyanogen inc. has come to your rescue. CyanogenMod 12 nightlies are now available for your device.
Every day that passes, it seems, we see further indicators that the official release of CyanogenMod 12 is approaching. A new boot animation arrived yesterday, and today, a couple new variants of a major flagship device gain support from the main-stream Android alternative.
CyanogenMod 12 nightlies have been available for a selection of devices for a few weeks now, bringing the latest that the custom ROM has to offer, bugs and all. Based on Android Lollipop, it also brings the latest that Android and Material Design have to offer, bugs and all. Things are looking interesting for the AOSP based OS, with Cyanogen recently announcing plans to pull away from the Google services focused Android stream.
It is always great to see Cyanogen roll out official support for their OS to new devices. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in particular is one of the better devices out there, one for which I believe users will be very grateful to see some ROM love.

Google seeking the best of Sprint and T-Mobile
For some time now, it has been announced Google is looking to launch their own mobile service through a mobile virtual network (MVNO). An MVNO that will be running on Sprint’s and T-Mobile’s networks although Google would be offering its own voice and mobile data plans. While an MVNO is certainly not a new concept, there are dozens of other MVNOs that already resell wireless services of AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Google will just be added to the mix and seeks to shake things up in the mobile industry.
Google already has a huge following through its search engine and customers that flock to purchase mobile devices that use the Android OS. It also has a lot of muscle in the marketing department so as they look to promote this service, the sky is the limit to what Google can accomplish.
How will it affect the rest of the wireless industry? Similar to its Fiber broadband service, Google seems intent on cutting its prices on wireless service while finding its own way to also improve network services. Lower prices and an improved network service is always a plus for customers. The Wall Street Journal reported that Sprint has already inked a deal with Google. The WSJ is also reporting that Google’s services will search for the best possible Sprint or T-Mobile cellular or Wi-Fi signal to route text messages, voice calls, and data traffic.
When will this happen? According to various news sources, Google is looking to launch this program sometime later this year although no actual date has been released. It is also said that there are no other details about what actual prices of the service and what kinds of other products will be offered. All we can do is wait and see as any new information surfaces.

T-Mobile 700MHz support coming to the Nexus 6, ZTE ZMAX and more
T-Mobile has been planning to roll out low-band 700MHz spectrum on a large scale for quite some time, even though support for the spectrum is scarce in many of the carrier’s flagship devices. That won’t be for long, though, as the carrier is planning to update quite a few devices in the coming months.
T-Mobile has a list of devices that will receive the update with 700MHz support, and it even gives handy timeframes for each device. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge are currently working on T-Mo’s 700MHz spectrum, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Here are the four other Android devices getting the update in the months to come:
- Google Nexus 6 – Software update coming early 2015
- ZTE ZMAX – Software update coming 2015
- Samsung Galaxy Avant – Software update coming May 2015
- Sony Xperia Z3 – Software update coming May 2015
The lower frequency will help the carrier broaden 4G LTE coverage across the nation, as well as boost signal strength while indoors. So far, T-Mobile’s 700MHz support is only available in very select areas, but you can expect the carrier to roll out more support in the coming months.
T-Mobile introduces a new program SCORE!
Yesterday, T-Mobile announced a captivating program for customers of its Prepaid and Postpaid plans. The program called SCORE! is a membership based program and anyone can enroll in for just $5 a month. The program guarantees the member a free entry-level smartphone after the completion of 6 months or can choose to wait 12 months and unlock the hottest deals on all the T-Mobile’s smartphones including the 4G LTE range.
The company with this program aims to help people get the smartphone they want. Being the first of its kind, this program surely will attract the attention of the rival companies and they are also expected to come up with some counter measures.
“SCORE! is a radically new Un-carrier approach to locking in lower costs on your next smartphone,” said John Legere, president and CEO for T-Mobile. “And, it’s yet another breakthrough improvement over the old-school carriers’ restrictive service contracts, hidden subsidy costs and slooooow upgrades.”
To put things in perspective, you could get an Alcatel ONETOUCH Evolve 2 for free after the completion of 6 months if you joined SCORE! (based on today’s pricing) and an LG L90 LTE for free after 12 months or at least $150 off of a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S5 or even deeper savings on any other smartphone.
