Carriers announce that they will carry the S6 and S6 Edge
Despite a March 1 announcement, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be available after a bit, starting April 10. As such, carriers here in the US and abroad have announced that they will be carrying the new Galaxy flagship. Those include, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint in the US and Vodafone and Three in the UK. As far as pre-paid is concerned there are a few carriers that will carry the new Galaxy.
Cricket Wireless announced that it will carry the S6 while US Cellular announced that the S6 and S6 Edge will grace its network. Crickett Wireless has mentioned that the S6 will be available for $35 a month after $5 auto-pay credit. There’s no word on other carriers, like Verizon, and if they intend to carry the new Galaxy (we would guess that they will) or when most of these carriers will actually have the phone. Either way, we’ll let you know when they do.

T-Mobile details the progress of your Android phone’s updates
Many US carriers don’t tell you how close you are to an Android update — in some cases, you’ll be thankful if you get a forum post after the new software hits. T-Mobile, however, just became more accommodating. It just launched a tracking site that shows you whether or not an Android device upgrade is still in development, at the carrier for testing, or ready for action. If you’re curious, you can also dive into a discussion. This isn’t the most elaborate page (you won’t get time estimates), but it will at least let you know whether or not you should be patient.

T-Mobile users can track Android updates with new website
T-Mobile customers worried about receiving the latest version of Android can now track the status in an official capacity. A newly launched Software Updates page helps subscribers pin down the update for their respective device.
Broken into three categories, the tool lets interested parties see where the update is along the development process. As of today the site is tracking Android 5.0 Lollipop for nine models spread over smartphones and tablets.
Noticeably missing as of this time are any Sony and LG products. What’s more, we imagine the page could be expanded to include all of its portfolio, even those not expecting Lollipop. Sure, it might not be the best of news, but it’s transparent.

Here’s how to find out when your T-Mobile smartphone or tablet will receive the next software update
Probably the biggest question smartphone owners have is, “When will I get a software update?” Well T-Mobile is now making it a lot easier to find out that answer. They launched a dedicated site which will let you select your device (phone or tablet) and then find out where things stand.
Software updates have 3 stages and they include manufacturer development, T-Mobile testing, and completion. Once a manufacturer finishes development, they send it to the carrier (in this case T-Mobile) for testing. Testing checks for bugs, which could end up going back to manufacturing development. However, once the carrier (again in this case T-Mobile) is satisfied, then it’s considered completed, and the update will be rolled out. This new site will let you know at what stage your next update is at, as well as what version of Android it will be.
So for example, if you were to select the HTC One (M7), you will find out that Lollipop is in T-Mobile testing right now. This means that it could literally get approved for roll out any day now. Unfortunately, depending on how many bugs there are, it could still be a ways off. So no, you won’t get any target dates, but it will give you an idea of how things are progressing and if the manufacturer is committed to offering the most recent update.
You will be able to select from the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013), HTC One (M7), HTC One (M8), Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and Galaxy S 5. Of course more devices will be added soon.

T-Mobile brings device software update page to life, lacks any real information
Keeping customers in the know on when their device may, or may not, receive a software update is tricky business. In the beginning we really never knew. We just waited and hoped it would come. Then things got heated where an update would land on one device in one country and never make it to […]

Google makes deal to bring Wallet to major wireless carriers, buys out portion of Softcard
Google has signed a deal that will lead to the distribution of their Google Wallet app pre-installed on devices sold by by Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T starting later this year. As part of the deal, Google is also buying some technology from Softcard, a mobile payment solution that had been developed by those same carriers.
According to Softcard, the app will continue to work for users that want to make mobile payments – for now. However, this could change as Google starts to rollout their solution on carrier devices. Since Soundcard is selling some of their intellectual property related to the app to Google, it seem unlikely future development will continue. Reports indicate there are no Softcard employees joining Google as part of the agreement, which could be bad news on the horizon for Softcard employees.
Softcard has been a long, expensive project backed by these carriers to bring a mobile payment solution to market. Their efforts were hampered after the original name of the solution, ISIS, became associated with the terror group and forced the name change. The carriers behind Softcard had blocked efforts by Google to get Wallet adopted in the past and the battle for market control not only led to both solutions struggling for market acceptance, it may have resulted in Apple sneaking in with their Apple Pay solution.
The apparent truce between Google and the carriers comes as Samsung moves to acquire LoopPay in an effort to implement their own mobile payments project. Although LoopPay was essentially in a startup phase, the acquisition and backing of Samsung should help propel it to the top of the class along with Google’s Wallet and Apple’s Apple Pay solutions.

T-Mobile shows off the edgy side of the Samsung Galaxy S6
So, what do we have here? Only the most detailed picture yet of the soon-to-be-announced Galaxy S6, courtesy of T-Mobile setting up a page where you can register your interest in Samsung’s latest and greatest Galaxy flagship.
As you can see from the image above, this is the clearest view of the Galaxy S6 yet, showing off an edgy side. The much discussed ‘Home’ button is also visible (you either love-it-or-hate-it), as is the Power button. Six Appeal is how T-Mobile describes it, and you have to admit, they may well be on to something because all the leaks point to a good-looking phone so far. It isn’t long to go until all is revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 1st, and you can be sure that the steady stream of leaks and teases will continue.

John Legere announces the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 and gives us a good look at a curved edge
In a tweet earlier today, T-Mobile CEO, John Legere, announced that they would definitely be carrying a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 following Samsung‘s press conference on March 1st. Furthermore, linking to a T-Mobile sign up page, we get a good look at what can only be the curved edge of the Galaxy Edge (or Galaxy S6 […]

This is the best Samsung Galaxy S6 photo leak yet, thanks T-Mobile

What do we have here? Yes, that is what appears to be the best teaser photo of the Samsung Galaxy S6 we’ve seen yet, as found on the T-Mobile website.
The page itself on the T-Mobile site offers little more than the image, embellished by the cheeky words “Six Appeal,” and a note to check back on March 1st. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Samsung will be officially announcing their latest flagship device next week, and that U.S. consumers will be able to at least pre-register, if not pre-order, from T-Mobile without delay after the announcement.

I don’t suppose I need to cover our expectations of Samsung’s expected new flagship device – you’ve probably already read our full Samsung Galaxy S6 rumor roundup, which was most recently updated just this past week.
I will say, the device we are seeing in the T-Mobile image, appears to be the Edge variant of the device. With the curved sides of the display that wrap around just a little way. There is a touch of class borrowed from the Galaxy Note 4 here as well. Just look at that backing, that appears to be metal, and the shiny chromed metal looking ring garnishing the glass of the display, looks like metal to me.
Head on over to the T-Mobile page to see the image in it’s full glory.
What do you say, does this one new image change any of your opinions or expectations for the Samsung Galaxy S6?
Galaxy S6 teaser shows up on T-Mobile website
Samsung has been releasing teasers surrounding their next flagship device, the Galaxy S6, on their official Twitter account for just over a week now. While they hint at the device, no clear image has been shown. T-Mobile didn’t want Samsung to have all the fun teasing the next Samsung device, so they decided to join in.
Today, a pre-registration page quietly appeared on T-Mobile’s website showing off what is expected to be the Galaxy S6 Edge with the slogan “Six Appeal.” It is one of the most clear looks we have gotten at the device that will sport a three-sided display. Below the image it states “The Next Big Thing is Almost Here.”
The Galaxy S6 Edge in the image shows off a re-positioned lock button and a metal construction. Previously it was thought that the S6 Edge would be made of different materials.
The image is also accompanied by a pre-registration form to notify customers when the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be available. T-Mobile wants users to return to the page on March 1st after the expected debut of the devices at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
