Lucky T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge user gets updated to Android 5.1.1
We just heard that Samsung is bringing Guest Mode to the Android 5.1 update, and now it’s rolling already? One user over at XDA is reporting that his T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge received the Android 5.1.1 update.
I don’t think this means that it’s officially rolling out, but it does mean that it’s being tested which is a good thing. It’s more than likely that it’s pure luck that his device received it. There could be others, but who knows if they even read tech blogs.
One thing to point out about the 5.1.1 update is that it locks the bootloader, so those of you that like to tinker might want to stay clear away from this one.

Today was a big day for LG. The LG Watch Urbane landed on Verizon and AT&T websites for consumers to purchase. It was also the official unveiling of the LG G4. Not that we needed it a big event with all the leaks that happened over the last few months, but still, we do like a good press event to get the details straight from the manufacturer. We know Sprint will carry the device sometime in June and is giving would be buyers a chance to win one. T-Mobile is taking things a little further though with an exclusive LG G4 preview program that is sure to get a lot of sign ups generated.
Starting today through May 25th anyone who signs up for the chance to be selected, could get their hands on an LG G4 before it even launches. Whats even cooler, is they are giving away one device a day from now through the 25th. That equates to 28 lucky people getting their hands on one a month a head of schedule. While it might be a long shot, it never hurts to through your name into the hat. If you are curious to see what Des has to say about the device, check out the first look over the device and a bit more in-depth look at the camera.
I have a feeling the LG G4 is going to do really well for the company. The manual mode on the camera with RAW output, manual shutter speed and the 8MP front facer. The removable battery and expandable memory option, u to 2TB, could be a deciding factor for those that were wishing Samsung kept up that tradition in the Galaxy S6.
All that aside, be sure to direct your browser over to the sign-up page and keep your finger crossed.

T-Mobile denies allegations of throttling data speeds of Unlimited 4G LTE data plan users
The CEO of T-Mobile, John Legere, has been quite open about almost everything that pertains to the mobile industry. And amidst allegations of the carrier throttling speeds of the users on its Unlimited 4G LTE data plans, he has now categorically stated that these allegations are false.
It was claimed by some users on Reddit that the carrier has throttled their speeds after surpassing about 20GB of usage. On the same Reddit post, some T-Mobile employees came in defence of the carrier suggesting that throttling only happens if there is increased traffic on its towers.
To summarize, these employees suggested that in a scenario where there was a lot of data traffic, the carrier automatically prioritizes speeds to users who have spent lesser amount of data that month. While this makes sense, it doesn’t seem fair to the customers, especially when they were promised that data speeds will not be throttled.
Are you facing similiar issues with the carrier’s Unlimited 4G LTE plans? Let us know. In the meanwhile, you can catch Legere’s statement on the entire issue made during the earning’s call from the video below.

As for the pricing? You’ll pay either $179.76 off contract, or you can get it for $6.24 per month through a T-Mobile payment plan.
Should you actually get the phone? If your needs are modest, it’ll probably provide more than a good enough Android experience, but honestly, it’s hard to recommend this one when there are so many similarly priced devices that pack higher resolution displays and better processing packages. Really the only things the Pop Astro have going for it are the addition of LTE and voice over Wi-Fi support.
What do you think of the Pop Astro? Worth buying or not? For those interested, you can pick up the phone starting today.
