T-Mobile Un-Carries Its Way to New Alabama Facility
T-Mobile defines itself as “America’s fastest growing wireless company,” and it’s doubling down on that claim by opening a new customer care facility in Birmingham, Alabama. But don’t take our word for it. Behold, the wonderful, self-congratulatory world of press releases!
Bellevue, Washington and Birmingham, Alabama − May 21, 2015 – With the Un-carrier™ revolution continuing to disrupt US wireless and attract millions of customers, T-Mobile is applying its flair for bold innovation to a brand new customer care center in Birmingham, Alabama. T-Mobile threw open its doors today with company leaders and community representatives present at the all-new, expanded customer care facility. The Un-carrier also stepped up its longtime support of youth in the local community, announcing a $10,000 grant to the YMCA of Greater Birmingham by the T-Mobile Foundation.
“Customers are #1 at T-Mobile. As millions join the Un-carrier movement, we’re making big investments in our customer care to match,” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. “With today’s grand opening of this truly inspiring care center, we’re not only doubling down on the best possible care for our customers—we’re also committing to a stellar work environment for our people and investing in the local community. This is win-win-win.”
Last month, T-Mobile was named one of the Best Places to Work by the Birmingham Business Journal for the second year in a row. The award specifically called out T-Mobile’s Birmingham customer care center for outstanding teamwork, trust and great management.
T-Mobile has been a community partner and major employer in Birmingham for nearly 20 years. In 2014, the Un-carrier hired nearly 250 employees, and almost 100 people have been hired already this year. T-Mobile plans to hire more employees at the new, larger care center before the end of the year.
T-Mobile is “all in” in Birmingham! Employees regularly lead and take part in community events and partner with organizations such as the YMCA of Greater Birmingham, the South Hampton School, Gifts for Angel Tree Kids and Relay for Life. T-Mobile is committed to the local communities it serves across the US, while creating the culture and environment that makes it Un-carrier − and completely unlike anyone else in the wireless industry.
So there you have it. Move to Alabama, like now.

AT&T will reportedly begin to limit two-year agreements on June 1st
About a month ago, we reported that AT&T, the second largest mobile service provider in the U.S., was planning to move away from two-year contracts towards the end of May 2015. Under the codename “Project Alice”, new and current customers would only be able to sign up for the carrier using AT&T’s Next program. Though details were a tad scarce when we first reported this news, thanks to a new rumor, we’re getting a few more purported details on the new initiative.
According to the report, AT&T will begin to move away from two-year contracts on Monday, June 1st, pushing customers to sign up for service with AT&T Next. These changes will reportedly take place at local dealer and national retail locations. However, if you don’t want to sign up for Next, there may be another option for you. Apparently, local dealer locations will still be able to sign you up for a two-year contract via Direct Fulfillment, which means the representative will have to order the phone for you and it will ship it to your house a few days later. The report also states that you’ll be able to sign up for two-year contracts at company-owned retail locations, through customer service and through AT&T.com. Two-year agreements will also be available for tablets, feature phones and IoT products as well.
Of course, this isn’t the first carrier to move away from two-year contracts. More than two years ago, T-Mobile first announced that it was getting rid of the two-year contract standard, and it has definitely shaken up the wireless industry ever since. The Un-carrier has since (unofficially) surpassed Sprint as the third-largest mobile carrier in the U.S., and has pushed Verizon, AT&T and Sprint to adopt new contract alternatives to help get more consumers on board.
Keep in mind that these are all just rumors for now, so be sure not to treat this as official news quite yet. If AT&T happens to shy away from the two-year contract standard and (pretty much) only provide its Next plans to consumers, would you be interested in signing up for the carrier?

The network has listed that the tablet is being updated to Android 5.0.2 as of today which moves it off Android 4.4.4 KitKat up to the beloved Lollipop. Sadly, T-Mobile was a little late to the game on this update as the Wi-Fi variant saw the update a few months back and AT&T pushed it out last week, not to mention they were extremely bashful in listing any improvements in the update.
The baseband you will be looking for T807TUVU1BOE1 and should be starting make its appearance across devices. Feel free to bounce into settings and check for updates at your leisure. Be warned though, you will need well over 50% battery life, a solid Wi-Fi connection and some time to hangout for the 1.1GB update file to download and install. You will also need at least 3GB’s of free space to get he update going and be prepared to lose approximately 950MB’s of usable storage after it is done.

T-Mobile prepaid customers could get the LG Leon smartphone for free: Rumor
After the innumerable discounts offered by T-Mobile for its prepaid customers, a new one has just cropped up which could easily take the cake.
According to an internal memo accessed by a popular fan site, the company will offer the LG Leon LTE smartphone for free on the 20th of May for customers who sign up for a prepaid plan higher than $40 or pick the Simple Choice No Credit (SCNC) plan.
The smartphone is expected to hit the shelves along with its bigger sibling the LG G Stylo, so the promotion will come across as attractive to potential buyers. It must be noted that the Leon LTE will be offered for free only after a rebate by the carrier.
Discount amounts vary depending on what plan you’ve chosen, as TMo News states. Those who chose the regular prepaid option will see that the price of the smartphone has come down to $50, which will then be reimbursed to you in the form of an online rebate. But for those on the SCNC plan, the Leon LTE will cost $149.76, which will also be fully discounted in the form of a rebate. So regardless of which plan you pick, you stand to save some money if you choose the LG Leon LTE.
How does it sound?

50% of T-Mobile’s customers said to be on Family Plans
According to T-Mobile, over 50% of its customers are on their Family Plans. It is said that these plans cover an average of 2.4 lines. The carrier is optimistic that it can add more users to its family plans over the coming months.
The information was given away by the CFO, Braxton Carter. The carrier has been popular for undercutting its contemporaries in the industry and also for its highly disruptive mobile data plans. Although the carrier lacks the coverage areas enjoyed by Verizon or AT&T, there’s no denying that T-Mobile has had a significant impact on the market.
Carter also reiterated that people on Family Plans stick around longer than single line subscribers, which is a valid point and good for the carrier in the overall scheme of things. But when we consider the fact that T-Mobile offers heavy discounts on data for these plans, the number of subscribers doesn’t matter all that much. This has been a rising concern for the investors as well given that the Average Revenues Per User or the ARPU goes down.

T-Mobile giving away free SIM starter kits to certain customers
T-Mobile has been extremely bold in trying to pull customers onto their network, including letting customers test drive their network and offering up tons of promotional credit. Their latest move is a small but meaningful tactic to bolster their prepaid numbers for anyone wanting to get away from postpaid service.
From now until June 30th, all Pay in Advance and Simple Choice No Credit customers will see the normal $15 SIM starter kit fee completely waived. This unfortunately doesn’t extend to anyone activating a new postpaid line of service, but there are other promos to make that option a little easier to swallow.
If you’re planning on trying out T-Mobile’s prepaid network, now would be the time to do it. $15 isn’t a ton of cash, but it’s better than nothing.

T-Mobile: get a Samsung tablet and phone through a payment plan, save $100

Samsung fans that are interested in picking up a new tablet and phone might want to turn their attention to T-Mobile, as the Uncarrier has unveiled a new promotion that saves would-be buyers $100 on the purchase when they buy both a Samsung tablet, Samsung phone, and sign up for a T-Mobile installment plan to pay them off.
Some of the eligible handsets on offer include the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 4, and Galaxy Note 4 Edge. As for the Uncarrier’s tablet selection? They offer just two Samsung branded options, the Galaxy Tab S and Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. It is important to note that you don’t need to purchase both the phone and tablet at the same time to be eligible for the savings, but the tablet must be bought within 30 days of the handset.
With the Galaxy Tab S2 rumored to be just around the corner, this promotion is probably just as much about clearing stock as it is about offering a bargain. That said, it could still be a great deal for someone in the market for new Samsung mobile devices.

Deal: T-Mobile Nexus 6 now $550 over Google’s $650
The Nexus 6 is one of Google’s most expensive smartphones yet at $649 for the 32GB model. Last year’s Nexus 5 came in at $349 for its 16GB model. That said, any discount you can get your hands on with the Nexus 6 is usually appreciated, and T-Mobile is doing just that.
T-Mobile has dropped the price by $100, making the Nexus 5 32GB model only $550. If you don’t want to foot that $550 right away, T-Mobile has also dropped its two-year payment plan from $27.08 per month to $22.91.
If the 32GB model is too little space for you, T-Mobile has also discounted the 64GB model, bringing the price down to $599 or $24.99 per month.
Overall, this is an excellent deal for a fascinating device. Of course, we’re not sure how long T-Mobile’s discount will continue for or if there is a permanent thing. That said, it’d probably be best to look at picking up the device as soon as possible.
At $650, the Nexus 6 is quite pricey. It’d certainly be attracting to consumers if Google themselves brought the price down. Are you picking up a Nexus 6 from T-Mobile? Let us know in the comments.
