samsung_unpacked_2015_galaxy_note_5_back_corner_TA

Forget about pre-ordering the Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+ from T-Mobile. Why? Because the carrier is forgoing pre-orders of either Samsung device in favor of shipping units right away. Upon accepting orders on August 18 at 9AM ET, T-Mobile will fulfill them and ship phones as soon as possible. Or you can just wait until August 21 to head into a T-Mobile retail store and leave with a shiny new device.

Galaxy Tab A coming to T-Mobile on Aug. 19th

Samsung’s budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A has been available in the U.S. for a few months now.  That is, only the Wi-Fi version of the tablet.  You’ve been out of luck if you’ve wanted one that works with your on-the-go lifestyle.

But now a carrier (or Un-carrier) is finally stepping up to the plate.  Smushed in with its Note 5 and S6 Edge+ press release, T-Mobile stated that a data plan-compatible Galaxy Tab A will be available on Aug. 19th.

Only, it’s not said which size of the Galaxy Tab A that will be.  The tablet originally came in two sizes, 8.0″ and 9.7″.  However, T-Mobile’s pricing may give a clue, with a full retail price of $319.99.  The Tab A 9.7″ was originally priced at $300, so it would make sense that T-Mobile is talking about the larger tablet.

Bronze_TabA9_Do2ThingsAtOnce

To recap the specs, we’re looking at a 4:3 LCD display with 1024 x 768 resolution, quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB on-board storage (expandable), 5MP rear and 2MP front cameras, 6,000mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.  Bear in mind, T-Mobile may alter the specs in this updated model.

As usual, you’ll also have a payment plan option.  The offer will be “$0 down and $13.34/23 months + $13.17 for 24th month”.  T-Mobile says that Simple Choice customers can add a data plan to the tablet for just $10 month (matching their existing data limit, but only up to 5GB a month).

Are any T-Mobile users interested in this tablet now, or is it too late?

alcatel-onetouch-pixi-7

T-Mobile is currently offering a free Alcatel OneTouch PIXI 7 tablet to customers who take out a new tablet plan, as part of its back to school promotion. All you will have to pay is the cost of the data plan and the sales tax on the tablet.

The tablet comes with a 7-inch LCD display with 1024×600 resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek MT8117 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 2840mAh battery and two VGA resolution cameras, one on the front and one on the back. Samsung_Galaxy_Note_5_Galaxy_S6_Edge_PlusSamsung announced the successor to the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ earlier today alongside the all new Galaxy Note 5. Both will arrive in stores on August 21. Following the announcement, Sprint announced a deal for buyers of the new flagships, but T-Mobile users shouldn’t feel left out.

The U.S. carrier T-Mobile just agreed to give all buyers of the new flagships 1 full year of Netflix for free. In order to take advantage of this offer, buyers must sign up through the pre-register on T-Mobile’s website by August 20 and then purchase the device by September 30. In fact, T-Mobile ran the same promotion earlier this year with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

You can head over to T-Mobile’s website where you can pre-register the flagships today. Pricing details for the flagships are slightly different depending on the model. You can buy the flagships on T-Mobile’s jump program or buy them off-contract. Either way the deal works. Stay tuned at our website for all the details on the Samsung’s new flagship devices. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A making its way to T-Mobile on August 19th for $320

Samsung-Galaxy-TabA-9.7-10

Alongside Samsung’s big Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ announcements from earlier today, the Korean tech giant also has some tablet news. Starting Wednesday, August 19th, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A will be available both in-store and online from T-Mobile for $319.99 off-contract. If you’re not too fond of paying that much up front, you can also pay $0 down and $13.34 per month for 23 months.

It should be noted that the press release doesn’t specify whether the Un-carrier will sell the 8.0-inch or 9.7-inch variant. But based on the pricing structure, we can infer that T-Mobile is selling the larger of the two variants.

The Galaxy Tab A sports a 9.7-inch LCD display with 1024 x 768 resolution, a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage and microSD expansion up to 128GB. It also comes with a big 6,000mAh battery, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front shooter and runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Be sure to check out our full review of both tablets for more information.

Did Samsung alienate its most loyal fanbase by calling them shallow?

For the record my primary device is fully paid for with my own hard earned money and it is a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, and my back up device is a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I love the Note line so much so that I bought my mother a Note 4 to replace her iPhone 5. I have never received a Samsung product for free for review, so please don’t think I am here to kiss up to Samsung just to get a free device. I’m just like you, a normal person with a normal job(AG is my hobby), and I love the Galaxy Note line. And with my most recent posts about Samsung, I doubt I will ever be sent a device to review, but that’s okay because I prefer to be honest than be bought with a free device.

J.K. Shin, (President of Samsung) claimed they “listen to us, the consumer.” Then he went on to talk about the Note line and how they offered us a unique product first, and how its success has created its own category in the smartphone market. He continued on to say how customers love the edge or curve on their Galaxy S6, and how batteries charge faster and last longer. In summary J.K. Shin, claimed they have been listening to “us” and have delivered what we have been asking for.

I really don’t know which of you actual Note fans, not Note reviewers, have been asking to do away with the ability to change the battery, removal of the SD card slot, IR blaster, O2 sensor, UV sensor, and heart rate monitor, but I would love for you to speak up in the comments section. Because Samsung claims they have been listening to you. But it certainly was not me who was asking for that, in exchange to fit my skinny jeans while looking great with a dual sided glass phone.

The VP who followed Shin to introduce the Note 5, carried on with Shin’s sentiment saying the large phones are too big for people with “skinny jeans”. My reaction to this was “WHAT!?!”, and then my next thought was “WHAT!?!” He went on to say how the metal is stronger on the Note 5, and how the device is now smaller and easier to use with the same sized screen with a curved back. Personally I don’t think there is anything wrong with making the device more manageable in hand, but not at the expense of all of those other features we love.

In my opinion, I believe Samsung has catered to the naysayers while alienating the most loyal and dedicated fanbase. Then they claimed to listen to us by taking away our most beloved features in exchange for better materials and design. In essence they call us Note users shallow, because we care more about how the phone looks vs. the features it should come with, which simply BLOWS MY MIND.

The Galaxy Note line is the most expensive consumer smartphone, so they are taking a huge risk by dropping the fans that powered the Note into its own category, while going for people who care more about build materials than function.

Samsung, if you can improve sales by alienating us, congrats to you. But if your sale’s numbers hurt, build the phone we want (check this post for what us Note fans are saying) and we will come back. But you only get one year to fix the mistake, otherwise I’m taking my Note 4 and Note Edge business elsewhere. LG, if you’re reading this, you have a chance to steal us Note fans with the G4 Pro as that seems to be a consensus device amongst the commenters. Just make sure the screen is top notch as us Note fans don’t like LCD displays much.

Watch the Unpacked event for yourself. Warning though, there are about 35 minutes of music and animations at the start of the video.
