Double Dragon Trilogy from DotEmu on sale for $099
Looking for another game to take you back to your childhood? Maybe you want to introduce your kids to your gaming history. While pulling out the old Sega and dusting off the cartridge is nice, it isn’t always feasible. DotEmu has your back on a few choice classic games and one that I remember spending countless hours playing is the Double Dragon series. I was a bit more partial to Battletoads Double Dragon though. The classic side scrolling street fighting game has sat comfortably at $2.99 but is currently wrapped up in the Summer sale on the Play Store for just $0.99.
For those that are wondering, this title does support a variety of Gamepads like the Moga line as well as the M.O.J.O. and Nvidia Shield. Head down below and go pick it up when you have a few minutes. Just don’t forget to grab it before the sale ends.

Instagram quietly (and slowly) launches Snapchat rival, Bolt
We knew Instagram’s effort to nab a bit of Snapchat’s thunder was imminent thanks to leaked promo banners, and now, the app has officially arrived… for some. Bolt, the filter-driven photo app’s own ephemeral messenger has hit iTunes and Google Play for folks in Singapore, South Africa and New Zealand. The software’s claim to fame is speed: instead of having to fiddle through a series of options, tapping a contact’s picture both captures and sends a photo — no further swiping required (tap and hold records video). So long as they’re in your favorites list, of course. There’s also an undo feature that allows you to retrieve a message in the first few seconds by shaking your phone. While Bolt doesn’t require a Facebook or Instagram account, you will have to sign up with your phone number for sorting through your contacts. For now though, most of us have to find solace in just reading about it, since a select few locales are privy to the initial rollout. Instagram’s word on that particular strategy is situated after the break.
“Bolt is the fastest way to share an image or a video — just one tap to capture and send. We decided to start small with Bolt, in just a handful of countries, to make sure we can scale while maintaining a great experience. We expect to roll it out more widely soon.“

Dark Ages part 2 update out for Plants vs Zombies 2
Electronics Arts and PopCap Games have released the second part of the Dark Ages update for Plants vs. Zombies 2 today. The sinister update brings along ten new levels for your zombie smashing pleasure to work through. You will also find your self with two new plants at your disposal and cultivating for the task, Magnet Shroom and Peanut.
If you took the time to watch nifty little video you will know what the Magnet Shroom will come in handy when the King zombie appears and starts knighting the regular zombies. Magnet Shroom will pull the helmet right off the zombies and make them easier to annihilate. Another new addition is the Wizard Zombie. This little bugger turns your plants to useless sheep. Needless to say, you want to take out the Zombie King and the Zombie Wizard as fast as possible.
PopCap also added in a new Zomboss plus an endless Arthur’s Challenge mode to keep you occupied for many hours. Hit the usual links to go pick up Plants vs Zombies 2 if you don’t have it, or hit it anyways to update your currently installed version.

Facebook Messenger app soon required to keep chatting
While Facebook might not be your favorite social media platform out there, it is quite large and still used by millions. A new round of changes are headed to Android and iOS in the next week in regards to the app and what you will be able to do. As it sits right now you can chat will the messenger directly in the Facebook app. However, Facebook also has a Facebook Messenger app that is a dedicated standalone messaging client that is used specifically for chitter chatter. It seemed silly at the time to have the same access in both apps. Apparently there is a migration underway that will disable the chat function from the main social network app and require you to use the Facebook Messenger app to continue your conversations.
“In the next few days, we’re continuing to notify more people who if they want to send and receive Facebook messages, they’ll need to download the Messenger app. As we’ve said, our goal is to focus development efforts on making Messenger the best mobile messaging experience possible and avoid the confusion of having separate Facebook mobile messaging experiences. Messenger is used by more than 200 million people every month, and we’ll keep working to make it an even more engaging way to connect with people.”
I can already hear the wheels turning and the hater comments coming. While I may not be a personal fan of Facebook, this change is something we have seen coming for a while now. G+ operates in the same fashion if you stop to think about it. We have G+ for the social network side of things and Hangouts for our conversations and chats. On the Google front though, it has always been that way, where as Facebook has not.
The change was forced in Europe back in April and Facebook says it saw “positive results” in terms of engagement. If you do a fair amount of chatting through Facebook you may as well grab the free Facebook Messenger app today and start getting used to it now before the service is completely disabled in the Facebook app.

BBM for Android and iOS to get redesign to look more native on Devices
It certainly would appear that today is offering up some pretty good news in the way of social interactions. Moments ago we alerted everyone that Facebook would be pulling the messaging function from the main app and shifting everyone over to the Facebook Messenger app. Now we find out that Blackberry is up to a few things in regards to the BlackBerry Messenger app that is also on Android, iOS and Windows.
During a Q&A session at the BlackBeryy Security Summit in New York, Enterprise Chief John Sims outed a little bit of information about the BlackBerry Messenger app (BBM). John stated that a redesign is coming down the pipeline for BBM for Android and iOS that will give it a more native appearance.
We have seen cross-platform apps in the past that have failed to make app redesign and visual changes prior to porting over. Often times we see iOS first apps that just get ported over to Android and retain the look and feel of an iOS app. It makes it look a bit weird and can sometimes be a little confusing since we do things a bit differently on Android then iOS, Windows or BlackBerry does. Giving their app an overhaul to make it blend with each OS could help boost users and not seem so far out-of-place.
Mr. Sims didn’t offer up a timeline or expected update date for either of the redesigned versions of BBM sadly. At least we know they are working on it though. Any of you guys die-hard BBM users? Do you think a redesign will a welcomed addition if BlackBerry? It certainly wouldn’t hurt in my book, I just hope they are doing their due diligence and working through the Android design guidelines to make it clean and smooth.

Beats Music adds new options for enhanced personalization
Some of the main items that Beats Music claims set it apart from the competition are its personalization and curated content. Looking to boost both of those areas, Apple’s pending purchase has tossed in a few tweaks. First, if you’re familiar with the service, you know that upon launching the app for the first time, you’re prompted to select a few of your favorite artists and genres to give Beats a clue to your audio sensibilities. Those selections are now editable, making adding and deleting easy for evolving tastes. You’re also able to access a list of recently played tracks from the handy Sentence feature — just in case you forgot to mark ‘em for later. More playlists have also been added to the Just for You section, increasing the amount and range of recommendations. All of the recent additions are available now through the service’s mobile and web apps.

Uber for Business bills companies directly for employee’s rides
Airbnb has realized the next step is to start heavily targeting business users. Uber has clearly come to the same conclusion, and just like the subletting startup, it’s bringing direct billing to business customers. The centralized system would not only cover payments, but would eliminate the need to track receipts. Companies would automatically receive all the necessary trip details after their employee finished a ride. Even if your company doesn’t choose to do direct billing, you can still connect your Uber and Concur accounts to have e-receipts automatically filed on your behalf. We won’t lie and say Uber for Business is the most exciting development in the world, but it certainly makes managing your expenses a lot easier.

OneNote on iOS and Mac now lets you attach files
Like it or not, school is fast approaching. However, Microsoft thinks it can make the fall semester a little more bearable with big updates to OneNote on both iOS and the Mac. Both apps now let you attach files to your notes; you can include audio recordings from a lecture to add some context to what you wrote, for example. If you add a PDF printout, you can also jot down annotations.
There’s more than just attachment support in this upgrade, as you might expect, and some of the improvements are meant as much for the corporate crowd as students. You can now open and edit OneDrive for Business notebooks, and it’s possible to both lock and unlock password-protected sections if you don’t want everyone peeping your content. Other updates let you shuffle the order of pages in a notebook, and (on the Mac) share them as email. The refinements probably won’t improve your grades if you’re headed to class in the next several weeks, but they may help you make sense of hastily-written notes when you’re studying for a big exam.
