Flip version of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 leaks in full glory
The design and specifications of Samsung’s upcoming flip phone have surfaced in a new leak. It is clear from the images available on TENAA’s website that the high-end device bears an uncanny resemblance with the Galaxy S6. In fact, the SM-W2016 is so similar to the Galaxy S6 in design and hardware that it won’t be far fetched to call it the flip version of Samsung’s flagship phone.
Certified by TENAA last week, the SM-W2016 has a glass and metal body and a clamshell design, something that we have occasionally seen Samsung dabbling in. But this time the Korean company seems to have taken its flip phone game to a whole new level with top of the line specifications. (Clearly, there is a market for this form factor too.)
Speaking of specifications, the upcoming handset packs a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 SoC, 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB ROM. The smartphone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and sports a 16-megapixel primary and 5-megapixel secondary camera.
As you can see in the images, the SM-W2016 features two 3.9-inch Super AMOLED displays of 1,280 x 786 pixels resolution and a numeric (T9) keypad – just like the old times. Weighing around 204 grams, the flip phone will be 120.4 mm long, 61 mm wide and 15.1 mm in terms of thickness.

One T-Mobile Note 5 user reportedly just received Marshmallow

We know that Samsung is working on bringing Marshmallow to its flagship collection, including the Galaxy Note 5. The timeframe of the update rollout is less clear, though if the experience of one T-Mobile user is any indication, Samsung has already made substantial progress.
XDA-developers forums user Danon Brown reports that his Note 5 (SM-N920T) received an update to Marshmallow by accident. Danon was playing with his phone’s software and ran into a problem regarding the IMEI code. He used Samsung’s Odin software to revert his device to the stock firmware and then he checked for updates. Instead of the most recent official firmware for his device, the phone updated to build.number MRA58K.N920TUVU2DOK5.
If you’re not fluent in OTA firmware numbers, MRA58K is the number of the stock Android 6.0 firmware released by Google on September 6.
Danon has several screenshots as proof that his device has indeed received a major update.

It’s important to note that we could be looking at a prank here, and, even if it’s legit, this build is likely not-final, so nothing is set in stone for now.
Also, the visual changes could be due to a theme being applied, though one of the screenshots shows that only the default theme was installed on the phone at the moment.
The most visible functionality change is the new permissions system – apps like Gmail or Hangouts now request access to specific capabilities when first ran.

Unfortunately, Danon Brown didn’t provide more details about the build, but he said he would try to extract a system dump from his device. In any case, we’ll keep an eye on the thread and update you if info that is more substantial leaks out.
It wouldn’t be the first time a user receives test firmware by accident. Last December, a Vietnamese user received an early Lollipop build on his Note 3 and promptly leaked it online. Perhaps history will repeat itself?
Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge already in testing at AT&T
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
With Samsung launching its phablet devices earlier than usual this year, there have been plenty of suggestions that Samsung is going to announce its first 2016 flagship a little bit early as well. Giving credence to these suggestions is leaker @evleaks who has said American telco AT&T already has their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and is testing it.

http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js This is just the latest puzzle piece in a picture that appears to be coming together even without Samsung having to say anything. One thing they have said, indirectly, that the Exynos 8890 is going to be in their flagship devices after Samsung announced their most powerful chipset yet last week. Somehow, the rumours are also suggesting that the Galaxy S7 is going to be 10% cheaper than the Galaxy S6 – how that’s going to be possible, we’ve yet to find out, but no doubt lots of people will be happy if it turns out to be true.

Roadmap of Android Marshmallow updates for Samsung devices has been leaked
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Samsung has always been sheepish when it comes to revealing when their devices will get software updates, so the responsibility of informing the masses usually falls to leaked information, as it has this time. In a leaked Samsung document, the roadmap for Android Marshmallow updates for Samsung devices has been revealed, including at what state their approval (presumably with Google) is at. Predictably, Samsung’s latest devices like the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ will be the first to be updated with the cutoff for updates sitting around the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Alpha.
Perhaps excitingly for Samsung owners, the dates listed are quite soon with the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ updates due for rollout in December of this year. Of course, the speed of the rollout will depend no what region you are in and is further affected if your device has carrier software on it as well. The document also details a second phase of updates which will be coming to Samsung’s Galaxy A and Galaxy E range of mid-range devices, though the timetable for this is unclear, and presumably Samsung can still change these plans on a dime. A third phase is also referred to, but that seems even less likely.

Samsung’s smartphone market share in the Netherlands reaches 40%
A recent survey conducted by Deloitte indicates that 40.5% of the smartphone market in the Netherlands is dominated by Samsung.
Samsung’s smartphone market share is up to 40% in the Netherlands. Following the Korean tech giant is Apple with a 23% share and Nokia with 10%. This only goes to show how smartphone brands differ in popularity based on location. HTC’s 5.3% share, Sony’s 4.4% share and Huawei’s 3.8% share round out the top six. This is an incredible accomplishment that the company must be very proud of. Let’s see if Samsung can keep the momentum rolling with its upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship(s).

Here’s when Samsung’s Galaxy devices will get the Marshmallow update
If you own a Samsung device, you have come to the right place. A full roadmap has been posted including over 15 Galaxy devices and when they’ll get Android 6.0.
The map is organized into phases, (Phase. 1) and (Phase. 2). If you bought a Samsung flagship either this year or last year, you’ll be happy to know that you’re at the top of the list for the update. Updates will start next month with the newly released Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. Following will be the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge which launched back in March. They’re scheduled to get the update in January of 2016. Last year’s Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge will start receiving the update in February of next year, with the Galaxy S5 flagship and Galaxy Alpha to follow shortly after.
In phase 2, the handsets listed are awaiting official approval and are currently listed as N/A. However, if you own one of these handsets, at least you know you’ll be receiving the major update. The Galaxy A-series and E-series fit this category, which include the A9, A7, A5, A3, E7 and E5. If your device is not on this list, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost, but it will likely be just shy of a year before you get your hands on the update, if that even happens.
Please remember that if you live in the United States, owners of these devices will have to wait for carriers to roll-out the update which comes after the manufacturer. This typically takes another month or two before the update actually hits your device via OTA. So please add that to your estimations. You can check out the official Samsung roadmap pictured above for all the details.

AT&T reportedly testing Samsung Galaxy S7 already
Add another clue to the list of items suggesting Samsung is quickly approaching a release date for their next flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S7. Actually, it will be two flagship devices as Samsung appears to be on track to produce a regular screen version and one with curved edges. Twitter tipster Evan Blass posted on Friday that U.S. wireless carrier AT&T is already testing both Galaxy S7 variants.
In the past Samsung used dedicated Unpacked events to announce their latest Galaxy S smartphones. This past year they moved the schedule up to coincide with MWC 2015. Typically only CES precedes MWC on the calendar and CES would certainly like the press that would come with a reveal at their event, but that may still be pushing it even with Samsung already working on the firmware for the two variants.

Samsung Gear VR coming to T-Mobile on November 27th

Just a few days ago we learned that Best Buy and a few other select retailers were now offering up the Gear VR for pre-order, with plans to start shipping on November 20th. Now T-Mobile has joined in as the first carrier to get into the action. T-Mobile will offer the Samsung Gear VR on November 27th both online and in select brick-and-mortar locations, priced at the same $99.99 you’ll find it elsewhere.
For those that haven’t followed the Gear VR’s development closely you might be a little confused. Hasn’t the Gear VR already been released? It’s true that two “Innovator Editions” have been released in the past, these models were geared towards earlier adopters and developers. These versions worked with a very limited number of handsets, but the latest version offers slightly better support.

The new Gear VR is consumer ready with many more apps, games, and services available out of the gate, including the likes of Hulu, Netflix, Vimeo, and Twitch. Device support includes the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 5, and Galaxy S6 Edge+. Even better, the new Gear VR is priced at just $99, while previous editions cost a pricey $200.

Is there any clear advantage for getting the Gear VR through T-Mobile versus other retailers? Not really, but it’s always nice to have more options available.
