While Android 5.0 Lollipop introduced Guest Mode for phones, Samsung chose not to include the feature when implementing the software. The next software update to hit Samsung devices, Android 5.1, will mark the return of Guest Mode and users will be able to create dedicated spaces for multiple profiles. Each profile gets their own choice of apps to install, homescreen design, and stored fingerprint.
It is unknown how many devices will receive Android 5.1 from Samsung; however, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are guaranteed to be among the first.

Samsung posts profits of $5.63 billion for Q1 2015
Korean manufacturer Samsung has just posted its first quarterly results of the year and the figures look pretty impressive. The company raked in overall revenue of KRW 47.12 trillion or $44 billion with an operating profit of KRW 5.98 trillion or $5.63 billion.
When we compare this with the same duration last year (Q1 2014), it is a drop of 30%, which will cause some concern for the company. However, with a Strategy Analytics report suggesting that Samsung was the top OEM in terms of shipments yet again, things are certainly looking good for the company.
We must mention here that these revenues don’t take the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge into account as they were only made available for purchase earlier this month. So the upcoming quarterly results could give us a better idea of how well the two flagships have done in the markets so far.

Samsung adds two new products to Level line of audio equipment
Samsung has introduced two new products to its Level line of audio equipment, including a wireless pair of headphones and a Bluetooth connector for making your other devices wireless.
First up is the Level On Wireless, which is just a pair of Bluetooth headphones. The headphones have six microphones for excellent noise canceling, plus a simple touchpad for connecting them to your devices. They also fully integrate with your existing Samsung devices, allowing you to easily access things like S-Voice for using your phone. A cool trick is that they support Samsung’s Share Play, so you can easily share your music with other Level On Wireless users. You’re gonna have to know other people that actually buy Samsung’s Level headphones, though.
The second device introduced the Level Link. It’s a small Bluetooth receiver that you can connect to other devices that will allow you to wirelessly stream music. The interesting thing about the Link is that has both a send and receive mode, so you can connect it to just about anything and send audio both ways. Very convenient if you’re trying to reduce the amount of wires you have around your house. The device will also stream audio to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, so Samsung made sure to tick off as many boxes in the feature column as possible.
No word on pricing or availability just yet, but we’ll keep you updated.

T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge reportedly receiving Android 5.1.1 OTA!
Samsung has never been the fastest when it comes to updating to newer versions of Android but thankfully this situation has changed a bit with Lollipop, as the Korean giant has done a pretty good job of pushing the update out to many of its flagship devices. Of course, Android isn’t standing still and due to a number of bugs and performance issues, it recently made the jump from Android 5.0.x to 5.1. How long before Samsung follows suit? Sooner than you’d think.
Up until now, Android 5.1 had been exclusive to Nexus, Android One, and GPe devices, but several reports are coming in that suggest that T-Mobile is now rolling out an update to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that brings its software up to version 5.1.1. Yes, you read that right. Samsung isn’t just jumping up to 5.1, they are getting the very latest version of it (5.1.1) — an update that so far hasn’t even hit any Nexus devices, at least outside of the Nexus Player.
It is important to note that neither T-Mobile nor Samsung have confirmed that the update is rolling and there are still very few users reporting that they’ve received it. That said, at least one user over at XDA has caught several screenshots (above) and even a video (below) of the update. While it’s possible that this could still be a limited soak test and not a full OTA rollout, it’s still hard not to be impressed at how quickly Samsung and T-Mobile have apparently pushed this one out.

So what’s new here? In addition to all the changes and bug fixes you’d expect from Android 5.1, 5.1.1 brings a few more bug fixes of its own, and it appears that Samsung is also enabling the ability to create guest accounts on the Galaxy S6 Edge. While the guest account feature has been available on stock Android since the initial rollout of Lollipop, Samsung had chosen to exclude this functionality from its former Lollipop builds, but apparently they have had a change of heart.
Before you start smashing away at the update button on your Galaxy S6 Edge, one note of caution: reportedly the update locks the bootloader on the phone, which may be a deal breaker for some. Samsung now rolling out Lollipop OTA for all LTE variants of the Galaxy S5 in India
As expected, Samsung has just started pushing out the much-anticipated Android 5.0.1 update to all LTE variants of the Galaxy S5 located in India. In terms of added functionality, this upgrade transports the latest build of Lollipop to the handset, in addition to a multitude of bug fixes and stability improvements.
All the changes you’d expect to find are bundled into this upgrade, including support for multiple accounts, improved notifications, a smoother multitasking experience and the recently-announced Material Design guidelines.
As is customary with all manufacturer updates, the upgrade is being rolled out in stages, but if you don’t feel like waiting for a notification confirming that it’s ready for your device, you can search for the update manually. To do so simply follow the four steps below:
- Open the Settings app
- Scroll to the bottom and tap on “About Device”
- Hit “System Updates”
- Tap on “Check for update”

Samsung wants to leverage smart wearables and VR tech for business customers
Samsung is still trying to find the perfect market for its wearable technology, including its array of smartwatches and virtual reality headsets. It’s currently focused on pushing those devices to consumers, but the company might be looking at getting into the business market to find a target audience for their newer devices.
The company is exploring the best use cases for these niche devices in a business environment. Smartwatches seem like a no-brainer, as having access to information quickly and easily without having to take out your phone is extremely useful. Things like email notifications and other alerts are going to be universal to almost all businesses, so that target makes sense.
VR is a slightly more tricky subject, since we still don’t even have any killer selling points on VR headsets to consumers. Sure, they’re cool, and there’s some potential down the line, but nothing currently exists that make those headsets a must-own accessory. Transitioning that into a business-focused model will be just as tough.
Different kinds of businesses could benefit from using VR to create specialized training simulations or material, but there’s also the option to use the headsets for virtual tours of houses, or in-flight entertainment for airline industries. Of course, on the back-end of that, each company would have to invest the time and resources into developing VR content specific to their needs, and there’s no proof that many businesses are going to be willing to do that.
As wearable tech gets more and more popular, we’ll likely start seeing more use cases for the devices. Samsung plans to be at the forefront of it all, so expect to see them try to fit wearable technology into as many situations as possible.
