Samsung unveils two new SD and microSD cards that will transfer files faster

Samsung has just announced two new SD and microSD cards that will allow for faster transferring of files.
The first of the two is the PRO Plus lineup, which has higher read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90 MB/s, respectively. This model comes in 32 and 64GB variants, which Samsung says the greater of the two can record approximately 110 minutes of 4K UHD video or 490 minutes of Full HD video before filling up completely.
Next up is the EVO Plus lineup, which is also available in SD and microSD card variants. The EVO Plus cards have slightly slower read and write speeds at 80MB/s and 20MB/s, respectively, though this line is available in 32, 64 and 128GB variants.
Both of the new SD cards come with upgraded Samsung 5-proof features, which means they come with waterproof, temperature proof, X-ray proof, magnetic proof and shock proof protection. Plus memory card lineups can now withstand 72 hours of being submerged in seawater, which is 48 more hours of improvement from that of existing products.
Both microSD cards will be available this month, and the company says that SD card availability will follow shortly after.
Samsung’s smart lighting platform to be demonstrated at LIGHTFAIR International 2015
Today, Samsung Electronics announced that for the first time it will demonstrate its new open and secure platform for smart lighting at LIGHTFAIR International 2015. Per Samsung:
Samsung’s smart lighting platform is designed for integration with LED lighting systems in order to easily transform luminaires into smart, digital nodes. This Internet of Things (IoT) platform incorporates processing capabilities, firmware, connectivity and an open architecture connected to sensors for collecting data and creating new applications.
Samsung will also be inviting various industry partners to join them in hopes of collaborating to further accelerate the development of smart lighting. The end game is to have smart lighting integrated into everyday facilities all over the city such as offices and homes. Once installed, people should expect a dramatic improvement in both energy efficiency and life expectancy.
Samsung is aware that one company cannot do it all alone, thus their hope is that other companies will follow suit.

Samsung could be looking to launch a dual SIM version of the Galaxy S6 in Brazil
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge have been creating waves across the world ever since its launch roughly a month ago. And now, it seems like Samsung wants to launch region specific variants of the popular flagship to make it more attractive to the locals.
One such market is Brazil, where Samsung is rumored to be bringing a dual SIM version of the Galaxy S6 soon. This particular variant has already made appearances on local retailer websites, although Samsung Brazil is yet to make anything official at this point.
This would make sense for a region like Brazil where a large majority of the population prefer dual SIM smartphones. It’s only a matter of time now until Samsung makes the device official in the region for the retailers to start selling the smartphone.

Samsung to Enhance Camera Features with Android 5.1.1 on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
A wise man once crooned, “I’m King of the Mountain” (and he was), and Samsung is like unto said wise man in this regard – the unquestioned lord of its domain. Though the Galaxy S5 is largely seen as a disappointment, the S6 and S6 have been met with some of the best reviews in Samsung’s history. It’s too early to report actual sales, but there’s buzz about these devices.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge also happen to boast one of the best cameras in all of mobiledom, with a great (if saturation-happy) sensor, and a camera app robust with features, yet still simple enough for lay users to harness.
However, in this day and age, one cannot just say, “Dude, our camera so totally rocks” and leave it at that. If the HTC One M9 and LG G4 are any indication, with their bevy of manual options, including RAW, Samsung needs to stay on top of its game or it will get out-cameraed by competitors. (Check out our Galaxy S6 – LG G4 shootout.)
We’ve now received word that Samsung will update the camera software for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with a forthcoming Android 5.1.1 update. Unfortunately, for T-Mobile users, this was not included in that very update a few days ago, so perhaps a 5.1.2 will be on its way to Big Pink users.
S6 owners currently have no option to control shutter speed or shoot in RAW, and these are likely to be addressed in the update. The release will affect devices codenamed Zen and Noble. Zen is the S6 series of phones, but Noble is allegedly the codename for the upcoming Galaxy Note 5.
There you have it. May your photos reach as high as your dreams. Let us know when you get the updated and how you like the new features.

Here’s how the Samsung and Sony camera sensors on the Galaxy S6 differ
Yesterday, a report surfaced online claiming that Samsung is shipping some units of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with its own ISOCELL camera sensor on board, instead of the Sony IMX240.
Up until today this was nothing but speculation. However, the folks at SamMobile have managed to get hold of an S6 Edge packing the ISOCell sensor, and have uploaded some comparison pictures, which can be seen below.

Samsung starts rolling out Android 5.0.1 update for the Galaxy Note 4 LTE in India

Samsung working on camera improvements for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge
Yesterday TalkAndroid posted some camera shootout results comparing the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4. While both cameras are able to produce excellent images that are nearly indistinguishable, one of the takeaways was that the LG G4 had more features and flexibility available to users willing to dig into the camera settings. This is because LG decided to enable more features that Google makes available in Lollipop like support for Raw images and specific camera settings like ISO or shutter speed. Sources say Samsung may be working to narrow the gap by adding new features to their camera app as part of an update to Lollipop 5.1.1.
The update appears to be something Samsung is scrambling to include at the last minute, possibly in response to the features LG is delivering on the G4. T-Mobile recently pushed out an unfinished version of Lollipop 5.1.1 to owners of the Galaxy devices on their network and others have early versions of the 5.1.1 ROM for testing and review and the new camera app features are not present in any of these versions.
Sources have not provided any details on exactly what features or updates Samsung plans to add in the final Lollipop 5.1.1 update, but some expect the company to go ahead and enable the full Google camera API. Sources also indicate the new features should be delivered on devices codenamed Samsung Zen and Samsung Noble, the latter of which is suspected to be the Galaxy Note 5.

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge reportedly getting camera improvements with Android 5.1.1
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are receiving plenty of positive praise due to the phone’s design, its slim-downed software, and its performance in general, but one of its biggest headlining features is actually the camera.
There’s no denying that the GS6 has one of the best cameras available for smartphones, though the LG G4 aims to provide an experience that rivals what you’ll find with Samsung. It seems that Samsung isn’t holding still when it comes to camera performance, however, as a new report from SamMobile claims that the upcoming Android 5.1.1 update will include several new camera features alongside the general bug fixes that you’d expect from Android 5.1.x.
Before you ask, yes, some T-Mobile users already have received the update to 5.1.1 on their Galaxy S6 Edge, and no, there weren’t any camera changes present. It is important to note that since then the update has seemingly been halted and so it seems likely that it was an unfinished (test) build that accidentally was pushed out early.

So what kind of new camera features are we talking about? SamMobile’s “source” doesn’t get into any specifics, though the publication speculates that Samsung may be adding support for the full Google camera API on Lollipop, which would bring RAW shooting, shutter speed control, and more.
What do you think, what are some of the areas you’d like to see improved when it comes to the camera experience on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge? Conversely, do you feel the camera is near perfect as it is?
Samsung begins rolling out the Lollipop update to the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE
It was only a couple of weeks ago that Samsung began rolling out the Android 5.0 update to the WiFi variant of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, and now we have news that the LTE version is also receiving some Lollipop goodness, in Hong Kong of all places.
At present the update is only available via the Samsung Kies software, although an OTA (Over-The-Air) version should be on the way as well. The update is based on Android version 5.0.2 and has build number T705ZHU1BOD3 and a changelog number of 4716872 for what it’s worth. Hopefully, it shouldn’t be too long before SM-T705 owners begin seeing the update in other regions.
If you are the adventurous-slash-impatient type you can always install the update manually by downloading the firmware from SamMobile and then following the accompanying instructions. It should be noted that the firmware is only compatible with the SM-T705 model that has the Exynos processor. If you are in any doubt about which model you own just go to Settings/ About Phone and check the model number. Flashing firmware manually can be risky, sometimes ending in a bricked device, which is why we would advise you to wait until the update becomes available to your region.
Instructions:
- Download the firmware (From the source link below)
- Extract (unzip/unrar) the firmware file
- Download Odin v3.10.6 (Here)
- Extract the Odin zip file
- Open Odin v3.10.6
- Reboot tablet in download mode (press Home + Power + Volume Down buttons simultaneously)
- Connect tablet to computer via USB and make sure you see the blue sign in Odin before proceeding
- Add the firmware to AP/PDA section
- Important: Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
- Click the start button, wait a few minutes until the tablet reboots
