‘Vampyr’ casts you as a creature of the night with a conscience
Since we last heard about developer Dontnod’s vampire role-playing game, Vampyr, set against the first World War, the studio released and wrapped the excellent episodic Life is Strange. But seeing as how that project has wrapped for now it’s time to focus on the post-World-War-I tale of the macabre once more. Turns out that it’s an action role-playing game focusing on makeshift weapons and the protagonist’s newfound vampiric ways.

Make sweet, sci-fi music with ‘Amplitude’ on PS4 in January
Amplitude blends rhythm gaming with sci-fi spaceship action, and it’s heading to PlayStation 4 on January 5th, for $20 via the PlayStation Store. This is the new, Kickstarted version of Harmonix’s beloved 2002 PlayStation 2 franchise — Amplitude raised $844,127 on Kickstarter in 2014, partially because the crowdfunding cards were stacked in its favor.

‘Dead or Alive’ maker denies restricting game launch due to sexism
You know that Koei Tecmo staffer who claimed that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 wasn’t shipping to Europe or the US due to concerns about sexism? Apparently, he was speaking out of line. The developer has posted a statement saying that the rep doesn’t reflect its “opinion or business strategy.” In other words, it wants you to take those sexism claims with a grain of salt.

Sony tempts gamers with two $300 PlayStation 4 bundles
Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be behind us now, but Sony wants to keep people’s shopping momentum going. The tech company today announced two PlayStation 4 bundles at a new low price: $300 each, albeit for a limited time. First up, there’s the The Nathan Drake Collection version, which includes a 500GB console and three remastered titles from the Uncharted franchise. Your other option is the Star Wars: Battlefront bundle, and this comes with the Standard Edition of EA’s newly released game, a code to download four classic Star Wars titles, as well as a 500GB PS4 model. If you missed out on deal these past few days, this could be your chance to save cash on Sony’s console. Both bundles will be available starting on Sunday, December 6th, through the 19th.

Future PS4 games will have more power to play with
It seems the PlayStation 4 is now just a little more powerful than before. At least for game developers, anyway. None of the console’s components have changed — instead it’s being reported that a seventh core has been “unlocked” in the CPU. Until now, six of the PlayStation 4’s eight-core CPU have been dedicated to games, while the remaining two handle the operating system. In all likelihood, this was a conservative setup to ensure consoles ran smoothly at launch. It also gave Sony some wiggle-room if they needed to make any system changes or optimizations. Now, however, it seems the company is happy with the console’s performance and willing to give developers a tad extra power.

Sony Working on App to Stream PS4 Games on Mac and PC
Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida has announced on Twitter that the company is working on an official Remote Play app for Mac and PC, enabling users to stream and play PS4 games on desktops and notebooks, per The Verge.
Remote Play is currently limited to various Sony devices, including the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV and newer Xperia-branded smartphones and tablets. All new PS4 games must be compatible with Remote Play, except for games that use peripherals such as PlayStation Move.
Some people asked if we plan to provide Remote Play function to PC, and yes, we are indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac. 😀

Sony confirms official PS4 Remote Play app for Windows and Mac
Well that was quick. It’s only been a couple of days since someone came up with an unofficial app to stream PlayStation 4 gaming to PC, but earlier today, Sony’s awesome Shuhei Yoshida confirmed on Twitter that his company is “indeed working on an official [Remote Play] application for PC/Mac.” Yes, it will support both Windows and Mac OS X, which is already more than what the Xbox One offers, though Yoshida has yet to provide a date. Regardless, this is bad news for the unofficial app’s developer, who has apparently been working on this project on and off for over a year and planned on charging $10 for the hard work, but at least we can give him or her some credit for getting Sony to up the game for its consoles.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is too sexist for Europe and US
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, the game where you play volleyball as scantily clad women, won’t be making its way to the US or Europe. Apparently, the game’s publisher is worried about how Western audiences will react to the way the franchise depicts women. The latest installment features a sun-tanning system (whatever the hell that means), butt fights (as seen in the gameplay trailer below) and the ability to dress the characters in a wide variety of costumes.

Sony PlayStation 4 sales speed past 30 million
In just over two years Sony’s sold over 30 million PlayStation 4s. That tally was 20.2 million in March, and now ahead of the busy holiday shopping season we have word from the Japanese tech giant that it’s sold through more than 30.2 million consoles to some 124 countries and regions globally. That’s roughly 1.25 million consoles per month since then, as of November 22nd. Impressive! Of course, Microsoft announced that the Xbox One was the number one-selling console for October, and that Halo 5 was the best selling game last month, but as per usual didn’t give out any hard numbers.
Unofficial app makes PlayStation 4 to PC streaming a reality
Sony’s had its Remote Play tech in one form or another since the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, but it didn’t truly take off until its implementation on PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita handheld. But that’s kind of wasted when nobody is buying the Vita and it’s getting zero love from its parent company. Remote Play PC is exactly what its name implies: an application that tricks the PS4 into thinking a PC is a Remote Play device. Microsoft changed the game (sorry) with the ability for the Xbox One to stream its games to Windows 10-based hardware and until Sony catches up we’re just going to have to settle for an unofficial app that costs money to perform the task.
