Android L developer preview live now!

Android L was announced yesterday at Google I/O without a code name and without a version number. What was announced was a developer preview to be released the following day, which is today! The downloads are now available here. The downside is, you must have a developer device meaning you must have a Nexus 5 (hammerhead) or the Nexus 7 WiFi (razor). There is not a developer preview for the Nexus 4 or any other Nexus device.
This is a developer preview, so bugs are expected. Remember, ART is now full time and the only runtime on Android L. Dalvik is no longer an option, and some apps still do not work on ART. If you are okay with a few bugs and are determined to have bleeding edge technology, head on over to http://developer.android.com/preview/setup-sdk.html and download the system image now! Instructions to install the preview are available here.
An in-depth look at Android L will be coming in a few days after I have had some time to test it out on my Nexus 7 for those of you who do not have either Nexus device.

Nexus 7 from Google Play gets 3-month All Access

Google’s Nexus 7 (2013) may be just a month shy of turning a year old, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a great device.
If you’ve been in the market for a new 7-inch tablet, Google is currently offering a deal for anyone who buys a new Nexus 7. The tablet will come with three months of unlimited music from Google Play.
The Google Play All Access provides instant streaming to over 20 million tracks and usually costs $9.99 a month. Google Music recently got updated to provide playlist-based radio stations to aid in music discovery, bringing it in line with offerings from competitors such as Spotify.
After your three months, the price is $9.99, but you can always cancel it if you aren’t satisfied. The service must be setup by Sept. 30 for the deal to apply.

[Download] Android 4.4.3 OTA Update for the 2012 Nexus 7 3G is now Available
As you may have heard, the last software update for Android, Android 4.4.3, is now available and is now rolling out to devices, most notably the Nexus devices. While the factory images for all Nexus devices are available if you like tinkering, it’s been a bit harder to track down the more easily installed OTA updates so far. Luckily though, oldblue910 over at XDA has captured the Android 4.4.3 OTA update for the 2012 Nexus 7 3G and has it available for download here.
Unfortunately, the OTA update for the Wi-Fi version of the Nexus 7 has not yet been captured, but it’s only a matter of time now before it is. The Android 4.4.3 is bringing quite a few needed bug fixes, particularly for Nexus 5 owners, though it’s surprising that this build of Android has come so close to Google I/O, essentially dampening any hope of a new software build announcement at the event at the end of June. Still, it’s always better than nothing.
Do you have Android 4.4.3 on your device yet? If so, how do you find it? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

[Download] Android 4.4.3 for the 2013 Nexus 7 captured in OTA Form
Earlier today, we heard about the availability of Android 4.4.3 through factory images for all the Nexus devices which is great if your bootloader is unlocked, however if you just wanted the OTA update, you have so far been out of luck. Luckily, XDA member, EthanFirst, was able to capture Android 4.4.3 for the 2013 Nexus 7 captured in OTA form (i.e. build KTU84L), which can be downloaded from the forum page here. The update comes in at about 74MB so it’s much more manageable and perfect for those with locked bootloaders.
Note that the captured OTA update is only for the 2013 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi; the update for the 4G version isn’t yet available. Likewise, OTA’s for the other Nexus devices have not yet been found, so if you spot them somewhere, or you start getting the update, we’d love to hear about it in the comments. Updates for all Nexus devices should be slowly rolling out as we speak, but will vary region to region, so don’t freak out too much if you haven’t gotten it yet.
Are you hoping that Android 4.4.3 fixes up issues that you have been experiencing? Let us know your inconveniences in the comments.

Android 4.4.3 Factory Image for Nexus Devices Released
Earlier this morning T-Mobile support page listed Android 4.4.3 updates were heading out to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013). For those that might be a little bit more than irritated by the news, there is some other good news out there for you guys. Google has just released the Android 4.4.3 factory image for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. It does seem to be missing for the Nexus 7 LTE version though. Mystery tablet shows up on Google I/O website; is this the Nexus 8?
One of the most highly anticipated devices of 2014 is the Google Nexus 8 tablet, which is expected to supersede the oft-criticized 2013 Nexus 7. While so far only existing thanks to countless rumours, including code snippets and production leaks, the case for a Nexus 8 grows dimmer with every mention of the Android Silver line of devices replacing the Nexus line. Even so, when a mystery device pops up on the Google I/O website one month ahead of the actual event, we can’t help but wonder if this is a sneak peek of the Nexus 8.
As you can see above, there is an unmarked tablet shown being used as part of an exhibit, though which manufacturer it comes from is up for discussion. It’s notable that the device seems to be running an older version of Android, given away by the coloured Wi-Fi and battery icons, so it’s not a perfect fit for the latest and greatest from Google just yet. Still, if it’s not the Nexus 8, we’d love to know what tablet that is if somebody can identify it.
What do you think about the mystery tablet in the photo? Do you think it is the Nexus 8? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
