Nexus 6 to be available on all major U.S. carriers
With Google’s official release of the Nexus 6 earlier today, buyers may be trying to figure out whether it will be available on their network. The good news for customers on the five major U.S. carriers is that Google is going to make the Nexus 6 available on all of those networks with the initial release. The networks include AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless. This is a welcome change in strategy from Google as they try to get the latest Nexus smartphone into the hands of as many users as possible. The biggest impediment could end up being the price, which at $649 off-contract, puts it right up there with other high-end devices. By not backing off on specs and the corresponding cost of the unit, Google is also employing a new strategy compared to previous releases.

Google shows us what the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 have to offer in a couple of new promotional videos
Google took the wraps off its latest Nexus-branded smartphone and tablet a short while ago, and it’s pretty safe to say that there’s a huge amount of excitement running through the Android community right now.
Unfortunately, we can’t actually get our hands on either of these devices until the end of October, but just to make sure we’re suitably teased for their release, Google has posted a promotional video for each unit on its YouTube channel.
Each short movie explains the design choices for the featured handset, highlights key specs, focuses on dimensions and shows some exclusive previews of Lollipop in an effort to entice us to get our mitts on the device as soon as possible.

Nexus 6 with Android Lollipop officially unveiled, pre-orders start late October for $649
Well it’s official folks. The Nexus from Motorola and Google has finally been announced. There really isn’t much too surprising with it other than the price.
As far as specs go, the Nexus 6 has a 5.96-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display at 493 ppi, a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, 32 or 64 GB of storage, a 13 MP rear camera with OIS and HDR+, 2 MP front-facing camera, dual front-facing stereo speakers, a 3,220 mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. It also has Motorola’s Turbo Charging technology, which means you can charge an additional 6 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.
Now we get to the price and availability. Pre-orders will start late October for a starting price of $649, which we presume is the 32 GB version. You will have your choice of Midnight Blue or Cloud White for colors.
Google also went on to announce that all five major carriers will offer the phone as well. That means AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and yup, you guessed it, Verizon Wireless.

Motorola announces 6-inch Nexus 6 for late October

As we have come to expect over the last few weeks, Motorola today announced its Nexus 6 smartphone. Due in late October, this is the first handset to run the Android 5.0 Lollipop build.
Standout hardware includes a 5.96-inch Quad HD display, a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, dual front-facing stereo speakers, and a 3220mAh battery. Motorola and Google will offer the Nexus 6 in two color options, Midnight Blue and Cloud White; storage capacities include 32GB and 64GB.
Like the Moto X (2014) and the forthcoming Droid Turbo, this one features Turbo Charging capabilities. In other words, a quick 15-minute burst is all it takes to get your Nexus 6 up by an additional 6 hours of battery life.
As for pricing, the Nexus 6 will not come cheap. With the starting cost of $649 we anticipate at least $699 for the larger capacity model.
The Nexus 6 will be sold through the same places as other Nexus models, including the Google Play Store. A number of wireless providers are expected to soon announce their own plans for pricing and availability.

Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 price leak show that Google isn’t afraid to make things a bit more expensive
We’re probably only just a few hours away from the official announcement of Android L and two new Nexus devices, but that still hasn’t stopped us getting ours hands on a Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 price leak. According to the leak, which appears to be price lists from German retailers, Saturn and Media Markt, the Nexus 9 will start from €399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version, €489 for the 32GB Wi-Fi version and €569 for the 32GB LTE version, and will come in black or white, except the LTE verison which appears to be only available in black. While price of the LTE version does convert to $724 USD, proper region currency corrections tell us that the Wi-Fi version will probably end up costing $399 USD and $569 USD for the LTE.
On the Nexus 6 side of things, the lowest amount of storage available is going to be 32GB and that will set you back €569 (likely $569 USD) or €649 (again, likely $649 USD) for the 64GB version – both versions come in either black or white.
As you can probably tell, these aren’t the normal Nexus prices we are used to – the price of the Nexus 5 in that last photo should probably give you a clue of just how different the new pricings are going to be. There’s probably a few reasons for that, chief among these is the fact that these devices are expected to be cutting edge devices without corners being cut in the design process. Google appears to be going through somewhat of a rebranding period with its hardware offerings, with Android One launching, perhaps it feels the need to establish the Nexus line as its ‘premium’ line. Whatever the case, these prices are looking pretty likely, so get ready to open your wallets when the time comes.

Nexus 6 Watch 2014: Nexus 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus size comparison shows there’s not much in it
The announcement of the Nexus 6 could be just around the corner, but that’s not going to stop the leaks getting out in the meantime. Latest on the list of leaks is the above image courtesy of the newly named Total Tech Media (renamed from TK Tech News) which allegedly shows a Nexus 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus size comparison with the two literally and figuratively titanic devices next to each other. What you will notice is that while the Motorola-manufactured Nexus 6 is probably just a hair longer and wider than the iPhone 6 Plus, it’s still able to fit its much larger 5.9-inch display (vs 5.5-inch display) into its body much more comfortably with thinner bezels on all sides.
Apart from the obvious size comparison, we can see the dual speakers that have been rumoured for the Nexus 6 which in turn looks very much like the front face of the Moto X 2014. On the inside though, the Nexus 6 is a completely different beast, suspected to boast a Snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.7 GHz, 3GB RAM and that 5.9-inch display will give the device a Quad HD resolution. Hopefully we won’t have long to wait before the device is announced, or at the very least its bigger brother, the Nexus 9, as we can’t wait to see what it and Android L can do.
