T-Mobile Nexus 6 receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA build LYM47M

So far, the rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop has been… odd. Ever since Google officially announced it about a week ago, many people have been confused as to which build numbers coincide with each device. The first OTA update that we saw a few days ago, carrying build LMY47D, went out to international devices. Only a few days later, a new build, LMY47E, appeared on the official Nexus Factory Image page that was shipping on the Verizon Nexus 6. T-Mobile Nexus 6 owners are finally getting the update to Android 5.1, but labeled as yet another build: LMY47M.
For right now, we’re not seeing too many differences between the LMY47M build and the other two. T-Mobile’s software update page tells us that the Android 5.1 update will bring the normal additions we’re seeing on other devices running 5.1: Device Protection, a number of software stability fixes, and some squashed bugs. T-Mobile’s update also brings VoLTE to the Nexus 6.
While we try to find out what exactly has changed between build numbers, Nexus 6 owners on T-Mobile, you can start mashing your “check for update” buttons now. The update will come in at 409MB, so make sure you have enough room on your device before you try to update.
For those of you how have 5.1 already, how are you liking the update?

Looks like all your waiting is finally over Nexus 6 owners on T-Mobile. The highly desired Android 5.1 Lollipop update is underway for your device. It only took a few days to launch after the other Nexus line started picking it up. The build number attached is LMY47M and will only go out over Wi-Fi […]

Verizon Nexus 6 finally arrives, priced at $249 online and in-store

While the Nexus 6 has been available through other carriers for a while now, Verizon customers can finally get their hands on the latest Nexus phone starting today.
If you’d like to pick one up, Big Red is pricing the handset for $249.99 with two-year contract, $27.08 per month with Verizon Edge, or $649.99 for the off-contract model. Unfortunately, the only variant available from the carrier is the 32GB Midnight Blue version. If you’d like to get your hands on the 64GB or Cloud White models, you can (most likely) pick one up off-contract directly through Motorola or the Google Store.
As a refresher, the Nexus 6 is powered by a Snapdragon 805 with 3GB RAM, and comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. As for any Verizon specific differences? You can expect at least a little Verizon bloat, as well as Verizon’s logo on the back, otherwise this is the exact same model available on other carriers and unlocked.
For more details on what to expect from the Google Nexus 6 be sure to check out our full review. And if you’re interested in picking up the Verizon model, head to the source link below.
Any Verizon users planning on picking this one up, or do you have your eyes on the upcoming 2015 flagship devices instead?
Verizon Nexus 6 revealed to be carrying a different build number
The Verizon branded Nexus 6 is revealed to be packing a new build number for its Android 5.1 ROM, something which we haven’t seen before. Known as LMY47E, it’s different from other Android 5.1 builds that we saw for the Nexus 6 (LMY47D).
It was initially believed that this is a new build of Android 5.1 for Nexus 6 handsets, but a quick clarification cleared out our doubts. So if you stumble across this particular version on the Android Developers site, make sure you proceed with caution as it might not function well with other variants of the Nexus 6.
It is said that the Verizon Nexus 6 comes with this build number by default, but strangely, it has taken this long to hit the Android Developers page.
If you’re a developer and would like to modify the Verizon specific Android 5.1 ROM, make sure you download it from the link below.

Deal: Get $50 in Google Play credit with purchase of a Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or Android Wear device

If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, tablet or wearable, the newly-announced Google Store may have a deal for you. From now until March 31st, if you purchase a Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or any Android Wear device, you’ll receive $50 in credit to be used on anything in the Google Play Store. Once you purchase your new device, you’ll get a confirmation email from Google with your promotion code, which can then be added to your Play Store balance.
There are a few rules and regulations to go over before you make your purchase, though. Just to clarify, the $50 credit can be used in the Google Play Store, not the new Google Store where you buy devices. Your $50 credit can go towards anything, whether that be new apps, games, movies, shows, music or magazines. Your Google Play credit must be added to your account by April 20th and used by September 1st.
In addition to this sweet deal, Sony’s SmartWatch 3 can also be yours for a discounted price. Right now, the SmartWatch 3 is being offered at a $50 discount ($199.99), and includes the $50 in Google Play credit. That’s not a bad deal at all!
If you’d like to take advantage of any of these deals, head to the link below to start shopping. Is anybody picking anything up?

New Android 5.1 factory image LMY47E for Nexus 6 now available

The Nexus 6 first started receiving the newly-announced Android 5.1 Lollipop update about a week ago, but Google has already released an updated build of the software for the device. It brings build number LMY47E to the Nexus 6, up from the LMY47D build we first saw as an OTA update a few days ago. The improvements in this update are pretty minor, but still warrant a bit of explanation.
The new build carries an updated radio image, which controls different signals from your device like Wi-Fi, cellular connectivity and Bluetooth. We’re not sure what exactly it’s changed with the radio image this time around, or if this new build will be sent out as an OTA update. That’s about the only change we’ve seen in this build so far, but if we find anything else, we’ll be sure to let you know.
Like I said, this is a pretty small update. But if you really need your Nexus 6 running on the latest software, head to the source link below to download the new factory image.
For you Nexus owners out there, how are you liking Android 5.1?
Samsung Galaxy S6 does not support all features of the Android 5.0 Camera2 API
It was revealed yesterday that the Android 5.0 update on the Sony Xperia Z3 did not introduce the camera features from stock Android. Known as the Camera2 API, these features introduce the likes of RAW image capture and some other crucial features. It has now been revealed that even the Samsung Galaxy S6 , Galaxy S6 Edge and the HTC One M9 are missing these Camera2 API features.
The Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge reportedly don’t have the .dng or RAW image capture support. The two devices are also said to be lacking shutter speed control, which might come as bad news for prospective buyers of the two flagships.
SpectraStudy has compiled a list of features missing with the two devices:
- no manual white balance via RGB gains
- no custom color space conversion matrix
- no shutter speed control
- no manual exposure parameters (only rough exposure steps control)
- non-fixed metering, etc.
This also applies to other flagship devices like the HTC One M9 which was unveiled at the MWC. Interestingly, Google offers the full list of features from the Camera2 API on its Nexus devices like the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 6.
What do you make of these exclusions by major companies like Samsung? Sound off below.
