Motorola’s holding a two-day sale for its top devices in the UK

If the latest flagships from Samsung and HTC haven’t impressed you, now might be a good time to reconsider a Motorola phone. Starting at midnight on May 18th, the company is holding a 48-hour flash sale with hefty discounts on the Moto X, Nexus 6 and Moto 360 smartwatch. The Moto X is being cut by £96, pushing the 16GB model down to £299 and the 32GB version to £339. The gargantuan Nexus 6, meanwhile, is being dropped to £449 (32GB) and £519 (64GB), which is just £30 less than the current asking price.

We’ve seen a few signs pointing to a Moto 360 successor, so a price drop on the original isn’t too surprising. A device with a model number similar to the Moto 360 cropped up recently, and Lenovo’s CEO was spotted earlier this year with a briefcase full of smartwatch prototypes. In next week’s flash sale, the original Moto 360 is being cut to £150 — a 25 percent reduction, or a £50 saving. It’s a sizeable discount and signals an intent by Motorola to quickly clear out stock. Of course, it’s not a permanent price-drop, but we wouldn’t be shocked to see a bevy of similar sales in the coming months.

Could it be? A LG Nexus smartphone is “under consideration at LG”

The Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 have been two of the most popular Nexus devices to date, and many would like to think that manufacturer LG had a lot to do with their popularity. One thing’s for sure: the latest Nexus 6 made by Motorola hasn’t quite reached the same commercial success that its predecessors did and a large part of that was down to pricing, something the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 definitely didn’t have issues with. So when the news dropped today that another LG Nexus smartphone was possible, we had to take a closer look.

Today’s rumour allegedly comes from sources within LG who say that the Korean manufacturer is considering making the 2015 Nexus smartphone. This is decidedly interesting as quite a few rumours about a Nexus smartphone so far have named Chinese manufacturer, Huawei, as the front runner. Whether this is true or not, we’ll never really know until Google drops the bombshell presumably later this year as they have done the last few years. A LG Nexus based on the LG G4 anyone? Here’s to hoping.

Deal: T-Mobile Nexus 6 now $550 over Google’s $650

Google Nexus 6

The Nexus 6 is one of Google’s most expensive smartphones yet at $649 for the 32GB model. Last year’s Nexus 5 came in at $349 for its 16GB model. That said, any discount you can get your hands on with the Nexus 6 is usually appreciated, and T-Mobile is doing just that.

T-Mobile has dropped the price by $100, making the Nexus 5 32GB model only $550. If you don’t want to foot that $550 right away, T-Mobile has also dropped its two-year payment plan from $27.08 per month to $22.91.

If the 32GB model is too little space for you, T-Mobile has also discounted the 64GB model, bringing the price down to $599 or $24.99 per month.

Overall, this is an excellent deal for a fascinating device. Of course, we’re not sure how long T-Mobile’s discount will continue for or if there is a permanent thing. That said, it’d probably be best to look at picking up the device as soon as possible.

At $650, the Nexus 6 is quite pricey. It’d certainly be attracting to consumers if Google themselves brought the price down.  Are you picking up a Nexus 6 from T-Mobile? Let us know in the comments.

Deal: Pick up a Nexus 6 from T-Mobile for just $550 ($100 off)

nexus 6 first impressions (15 of 21)

The Nexus 6 may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying that it’s a powerful piece of hardware. Normally the phone costs somewhere around $649 for the 32GB model, which is understandably too expensive for many users. But if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the device for a cheaper price, now’s your chance. Right now, T-Mobile is offering the 32GB Nexus 6 in Midnight Blue for just $549.84… that’s $100 off the normal retail price! If you’d like to spring for the 64GB option, that will run you $599.76.

If you’d rather purchase the phone on a payment plan, you’ll need to pay $22.91 per month for 24 months for the 32GB model, or $24.99 per month for the 64GB variant. If you don’t want T-Mobile’s service but want to get your hands on the device, you can buy it from T-Mobile and activate on any carrier you’d like.

Having trouble keeping your mobile data connection on your Nexus 6? You’re not alone

nexus 6 review aa (6 of 14)

If you’re the owner of a Nexus 6 and happen to be a subscriber to either T-Mobile’s or Sprint’s network, you might want to take note of a problem that’s been happening to quite a few owners of the handset. Multiple users around the web have been experiencing complete mobile data connection failure over the past week or so, with no viable explanation for the problems.

Nexus 6 data

Most users explain that the problem happens sporadically throughout the day, and that their phones will randomly show an exclamation point over the signal icon, no matter if they have full bars or not. When that exclamation point shows up, the phone’s data connection is completely gone, and the Nexus 6 then requires a soft reset to work again. Unfortunately most folks are saying that a soft reset only fixes the problem for a few minutes.

The majority of these users report that the problem persists no matter if they’re rooted or non-rooted, or if their phones are running Android 5.0 or 5.1. Most complaints over on Reddit and XDA are from T-Mobile and Sprint customers, though there are also a few Verizon users reporting issues.

If you’ve been experiencing this problem, you can try performing a soft reset, pulling the SIM card, or even calling T-Mobile or Sprint to see what the representatives have to say. As of now, there seems to be no permanent fix for the issue. Has this happened to you on your Nexus 6? If so, be sure to let us know in the comment section!

Some Nexus 6 users complaining of mobile data issues

google_nexus_6_front

The Nexus 6 has been one of the least controversial devices to launch in quite a while. Although its size might not be for everybody, one would say that the device has been less prone to issues or bugs compared to older Nexus devices.

That however could be changing with some users complaining about the handset’s mobile data connectivity. It is being said that some users are seeing a ‘!’ mark next to the signal bar, with no mobile network available. This usually happens when there’s not enough network coverage in your area, but this seems to be happening even when there’s plenty of coverage, thus causing concern among users.

The XDA forums are currently piling up with complaints about this issue, but we haven’t heard anything from Google as of yet. Some users apparently tried to soft-reset their device which seemed to have fixed the issue for a while, but unfortunately, it didn’t last long. When the users contacted T-Mobile and Sprint customer support, they were told to reset APN settings to default and/or to reset the APN protocols to iPv4/iPv6.

Are you facing any of the aforementioned issues? Sound off below.

[Poll Results] What went wrong with the Nexus 6? 50% of you said the price was the blame

A few days ago, it was revealed that while Google‘s financials were looking green across the board, Nexus devices were struggling to make sales somewhere amongst all those numbers. The Nexus 6 is no doubt one of the biggest contributers to this struggle, so we asked the question to all of you: What went wrong with the Nexus 6? Well, the results are in, and it should come as no surprise that a huge percentage (50% no less) of you found that one of the most prohibitive characteristics of the Nexus 6 is its price. A pretty distant (but no less important) second and third are the size and the availability respectively.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.

None of these results are particularly surprising, but it is important to note just how expensive the Nexus 6 was for so many of you to pick that as your top reason for not getting one. Now before anybody goes on an angry tirade saying how this is a smear campaign against the Nexus 6, let me just say that the Nexus 6 is a phenomenal device – hell, if I had the money, I’d have one too. There’s no doubt that it will go down as one of the most powerful and best devices of 2014 and 2015, but no device is perfect, so it’s always good to take a look why things are the way they are.

What do you think about this poll’s results? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Google might offer a new Nexus 5 that supports Project Fi

Nexus_5_Nexus_Logo_TA

Google announced Project Fi last week, which will bring down your cell phone costs considerably. The only catch is that it only works with one phone, the Nexus 6. A decent phone, but it’s too big for a lot of people.

We can only assume that future Nexus phones will also support it too. It has already been rumored that Google will offer not one, but two Nexus phones this year. Huawei and LG seem to be the likely suspects. It’s also likely that Google will end up calling these devices the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 since there is nowhere to go with the current naming scheme. The Nexus 5 refers to a 5-inch display, while the Nexus 6 refers to a 6-inch display. And they can’t call either device a Nexus 7 for obvious reasons.

Google_Project_Fi_video_Nexus_5

In a recent video that Google released about Project Fi, there is a phone that is clearly not the Nexus 6. Many sites have considered it a place holder, which could very well be the case. It looks an awful lot like an updated Nexus 5 though. Now the new Nexus 5 might not look exactly like it, but it’s more than likely this phone represents what is coming later this year.

You can see it in the video below….
