Get a good look at the Huawei Nexus via @OnLeaks renders
If you’re like me, you prefer to see the real deal rather than renders of upcoming phones. However, comparing the recently leaked image of the new LG Nexus 5 to the renders that preceded it gives @OnLeaks some credibility over its insider knowledge.
But if small phones aren’t your cup of tea, fortunately, @OnLeaks still has your back. It now has alleged renders of the Huawei Nexus, the big brother Nexus that is said to have a 5.7″ display and all-metal build.
On the back, the fingerprint scanner sticks out like a sore thumb, bearing a similar circular design with the new Nexus 5. This could be a design cue that Google is pushing.
We can also see typical plastic-insert bands running along the sides, repeatedly used in metal designs. But a differentiating factor appears to be sections of extra plastic on the top and bottom. These could be for signals that don’t work through the metal, such as wireless charging and NFC.
On the bottom we can see the expected USB Type-C port. The source report (via uSwitch) even has dimensions: 159.4mm high and 78.3mm wide (including side buttons), with a thickness that ranges between 6.6mm and 8.5mm (at its thickest point). Bear in mind that the colors shown in these render are pure speculation.
What do you think about the design of the Huawei Nexus? Are you looking forward to this one over the new LG Nexus 5?

New Nexus 5 2015 cases leak, shows off the phone’s design
With all of the recent leaks about an LG made Nexus 5 this year, it’s starting to look pretty likely the phone will be a reality by the holidays. Some new images have surfaced today showing a case of the new Nexus 5, which means we get a fantastic look at all of the angles on the phone.
You can see pretty much exactly how the device will look, included a rounded camera lens, the camera flash, and what’s likely going to be a fingerprint scanner right below the camera. If the case description is anything to go by, you can also expect a 5.2-inch screen, which I personally think is a welcome change from the monster that was the Nexus 6. It even looks like the USB Type-C port will be present, too.
Google typically announces these devices around October, so if this thing is real, we’re not far out from an announcement.

The first pictures of the LG Nexus 5 (2015) have leaked
The LG Nexus 5 (2015) is one of the most anticipated phones of the year. It’s specs have leaked, we’ve seen renders based on specs provided to case manufactures and now we’re seeing what could be the first pictures of the newest Nexus 5. The pictures first showed up on a Google+ community, The Google Nexus Community Indonesia by a poster that only posted a photo, no additional information.
On the back of the phone we get a clear view of a few things. The first thing that stands out is the “NOT FOR SALE” imprint on the phone. Most beta units are covered up in cases or imprinted with such a message to prevent leaks and sales of the units. We see a sticker on the left with the LG logo indicating that this is the LG Nexus 5 not the rumored successor to the Nexus 6 made by Huawei. Moving up the phone we see whats been rumored to be a fingerprint sensor just below the camera. The camera protrudes from the body as has been the trend recently so we can infer that the new Nexus will be pretty thin like the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6. Next to the camera sensor we see a flash and laser auto focus.
Other leaks have pointed to the Nexus 5 having a USB Type C connector, a 5.2″ QHD screen and two front facing speakers. Previously our best look at the new Nexus had been some renders leaked by OnLeaks and uSwitch that were based on information provided to third parties for cases.
What do you think of the upcoming Nexus? Will you be getting it? Do you favor it to the rumored 5.7″ Huawai nexus 6? Let us know in the comments.

Could this be the upcoming Nexus phone from LG?
This fall, Google is likely to release two Nexus phones in order to appeal to more consumers. The two phones from LG and Huawei are said to have 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch displays, respectively. Both have have not been shy, appearing in reports and leaks months before launch. The only visuals, though, for either phone have come in the form of digital renders. That seems to have changed as an alleged image of LG’s upcoming Nexus device (codename Angler) has been posted on Google+.
Hit the break to see the image.
The closeup image of the phone’s rear does not show much although the ring below the camera is likely where the fingerprint scanner resides. On the left side of the camera, LG is using LED flash. Next to that could be the laser autofocus component that the company has used with its flagship phones. Other than the fingerprint scanner and camera setup, this alleged image is not giving away a whole lot more than what we already knew.

Huawei Nexus 6 renders leak, fingerprint scanner identical to the rumored LG Nexus 5
We’re coming up quickly around the timeframe a new Nexus device gets unveiled, and thus, leaks are becoming more and more frequent. In its latest leak, we’re seeing a very detailed render of what is is allegedly the Huawei Nexus 6, and it seems to be taking design hints from the iPhone 6.
The new report furthers our suspicions that we’ll see two Nexus devices this year, however, the only similarity between the Huawei Nexus 6 and the LG Nexus 5 (2015) will be the fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.
The report from uSwitch claims Huawei has been testing two Nexus 6’s, one that comes in 5.5-inches and another in 5.7-inches. Huawei is supposedly still deciding which one will make the final cut come launch day.
The only other real details we can gather from this is that, from the schematics, there seems to be a port large enough to support USB Type-C.
While this is by no means the final rendition, the design is identical to the iPhone 6 in multiple ways, and that could prove to be an issue in the case that Apple decides to pursue legal action.
As we get closer to launch day, we’ll no doubt see leaks like these become more frequent. In the meantime, it’s difficult to tell what’s legit and what’s not.

Stagefright patch update now hitting Nexus devices

Stagefright has every manufacturer and carrier going nuts lately. We took some good time to talk about it during our latest podcast, so you should listen in if you would like to spend some time with us and learn all there is to this issue. In short: Stagefright is a vulnerability that left 95% of Android devices weak against hackers, who could take control of handsets by simply sending an MMS message.
Google, Samsung, Motorola, LG and many others are getting ready to kill Stagefright with patches. There are some ways you can protect yourself until your own fix comes around, but starting today Nexus users will no longer have to worry about the Stagefright pandemonium. All factory images for the patch were released last week, and today Nexus phones and tablets are beginning to get their respective updates.

As you can expect, this update will only patch the Stagefright vulnerability. There will be no other fixes, features or performance improvements. This is all about keeping you safe from those evil attackers!
My Nexus 6 has just received the update, but all other relevant devices are invited to the party, as well. Updates are also hitting the Nexus 4, the Nexus 5, the Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and Nexus 10. Of course, a few of you will be left out, as Google has stopped supporting older Nexus products. The Galaxy Nexus, older Nexus 7 and some others are left out of the equation. It’s sad, but it’s also something to be expected.
Have you gotten your update yet? Let us know if it all went smooth. As for the rest of you – don’t worry. All main manufacturers and carriers are working hard to keep you on the safe side.

Yesterday, the specs were leaked for the two of the most highly anticipated devices of the year. The LG Nexus 5 (2015) and the Huawei Nexus specs were leaked to the world via GizmoChina. Today, we may have our first looks at what the Huawei Nexus will look like thanks to Steve Hemmerstoffer on YouTube.
In the video, the screen doesn’t turn on, and there are is no branding that can be seen, however, this video adds more fuel to the fire. The Huawei Nexus is expected to have a fingerprint scanner, which is clearly visible via the back, right below the protruding camera.
The video is only 10 seconds long, but if this is really the Huawei’s take on the Nexus, it’s going to fit right in along side the huge Nexus 6. So only time will tell if this is the real deal. In terms of the specs, GizmoChina stated yesterday that the Huawei Nexus would sport the following goodies, under the hood:
- 5.7″ WQHD Amoled Display
- Metal Uni-body Design
- 21-megapixel Sony IMX230 sensor

With these leaks coming more and more frequently, it’s only a matter of time before we get to see the real deal in all its Nexus glory, before it’s ready to hit prime time. Let us know what you think about the rumored Huawei Nexus, as well as the rumored Nexus 5 (2015) in the comments below.

Expect Nexus devices to receive monthly security updates from now on
Amid the concerns of Android’s Stagefright vulnerability, Google has commented on the protection of its own devices. Nexus devices ranging from the Nexus 7 to the Nexus 6 will now be covered by monthly security updates. The company pointed out that Android being open source means that potential security risks can be identified and addressed by anyone to strengthen the platform.
Nexus devices have always been among the first Android devices to receive platform and security updates. From this week on, Nexus devices will receive regular OTA updates each month focused on security, in addition to the usual platform updates.
Starting today, at least seven Nexus devices are receiving the first monthly security update. The Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, Nexus 10, and Nexus Player are all protected from the Stagefright vulnerability in addition to receiving other smaller fixes. Any changes made will be added to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
Google reminds everyone that Nexus devices will receive major software updates for at least years years while security patches continue for as long as three years.
People have long bashed Google and Android for not being secure, but the company notes that its decisions are responsible for there being less than 0.15% of devices with a potentially harmful app installed.

Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 receiving Stagefright fixes
Sprint is pushing an update to its Nexus 5 and 6 devices to fix the Stagefright vulnerability. There is no specific SKU for Sprint on either phone, so the update should apply to all of them.
The new update will be build LMY48I. Sprint and AT&T have also updated many Samsung phones to fix the Stagefright bug as well.
