Moto Maxx images leak, may be international version of DROID Turbo
Some new images surfaced today thanks to Google Plusser Guilherme Henrique that purports to show a Motorola device named “Moto Maxx” that looks like a DROID Turbo. As you are probably aware, the latest DROID device continues as a Verizon exclusive in the U.S. market. Some smartphone shoppers have noted that the DROID Turbo, with its high-end specs, is very similar to another Motorola produced device, the Nexus 6, but in a smaller size. Unfortunately for those potential buyers, a rebranded DROID Turbo going by Moto Maxx will probably only be available in markets outside the U.S.
One of the images that was posted shows a protective film for the screen still attached to the device. That film indicates the name of the device is the Moto Maxx and then provides some icons highlighting key hardware of the device. The specs match the DROID Turbo, including the Turbo Charging feature. Noticeably absent is any sign of Verizon branding. The images also appear to show a device with a kevlar type back, again appearing to match the announced colors and materials for the DROID Turbo. The back material also matches an image for a press event Motorola has scheduled in Brazil for November 5th.

AT&T launches new HTC phones, Lumia 830 and G Watch R on November 7th
When it rains, it pours — on top of its Galaxy Note Edge announcement, AT&T has unveiled launch plans for no less than six smart devices that should reach stores by November 7th. It’ll be a particularly big day for HTC fans, who’ll get the Desire Eye ($150 on contract, $550 off), One (M8) for Windows ($200/$670) and RE camera ($199 contract-free). And that’s just the start. The previously promised Lumia 830 will arrive at the same time, costing $100 on contract and $450 up front; you’ll get a free Fitbit Flex activity tracker with the Windows Phone if you act quickly. Meanwhile, smartwatch lovers will like that both LG’s G Watch R and Motorola’s Moto 360 will go on sale for respective prices of $299 and $249. That’s a lot of release info to digest, but it’s hard to complain too much about getting so many gadgets in one day.

Motorola to offer Moto X with football leather back
Here’s some exciting news for American football fans; it looks like you’re soon going to be able to pick up a Moto X with a football leather back.
Motorola already offers a leather option for devices created with MotoMaker, but this new back will reportedly look and feel just like a football. The company that supplies Motorola with their leather also happens to be the sole supplier of the NFL’s footballs, so expect something high quality.
The new option is slated to be available in the third week of November, and it’ll probably cost you an extra $25 on top of your other customization options like the current leather options.

Moto X Pure Edition getting soak test for upcoming OS update
Whenever Motorola begins to push out a software update to their flagship devices, they typically use a soak test to gauge how well the update is playing with phones. Motorola Feedback Network members can sign up for these soak tests and essentially beta test updates before the general public.
The Pure Edition of the 2014 Moto X has started receiving a soak test, which is probably just a small update to prepare devices for a Lollipop update later this year. It’s pretty unlikely that Motorola would push out Android 5.0 to their devices before the source code for the OS was available, but we can always hope, right?
Motorola keeps their soak test stuff fairly confidential, so we won’t know anything official for a few days. Keep an eye out for details.

One for the football fans: Moto X 2014 with football leather cover coming in late November
When Motorola introduced the original Moto X, it launched with it arguably one of its more interesting services, the Moto Maker. While we don’t have stats on how effective it is in driving sales or engaging customers, the idea of being able to customize and tailor your new Moto X in whatever way pleases you seems pretty neat. Motorola is continuing its good work with its latest device and is apparently set to release a Moto X 2014 with football leather cover in the third week of November.
This option would compliment Motorola’s already burgeoning assortment of customizations which include plastic, leather and wood. The football leather is obviously designed to feel like a real football (or as the rest of the world might know it, a gridiron ball), and would probably make it slightly easier to hold on to your new Moto X with the added grip. The leaked image above shows a Verizon variant of the Moto X rocking the football leather, though we don’t know if the cover will be carrier exclusive or not. Furthermore, we’re not entirely sure of the pricing either, but if we go off the $25 cost of the standard leather cover, it shouldn’t be much more than that if at all.
What do you think about the Moto X 2014 with football leather cover? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Does wearing a Moto 360 give you a better chance at getting laid than other smartwatches?
Earlier today, Motorola CEO Rick Osterloh was interviewed at Code/Mobile by Walt Mossberg. The subject came up about the idea that wearing smartwatches (or any digital watch) guarantees you a life of celibacy. So Walt asked Rick if they considered that when designing the Moto 360. Rick had an interesting answer, of which you can see after the break.

Hands on with the DROID Turbo
The DROID Turbo was officially launched today in New York City, and it’s shaping up to be the best DROID yet. With it’s 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 21 MP rear camera with dual LED flash, and 48 hour battery life, it’s one beast to be reckoned with. The fact that it’s priced at $199 for 32 GB of internal storage ($249 for 64 GB) makes this very intriguing for Verizon Wireless customers. The only question I have, since it’s made by Motorola, is how good is the camera? I will have to wait until I spend more time with it before I can answer that question, but for now, check out our hands on video after the break.
