Nexus 6 listed as ‘coming soon’ on Verizon’s website
The Google Nexus 6 smartphone has been available for over two months through carriers like T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. However, the nation’s largest carrier, Verizon Wireless has been somewhat absent from the action. It seems like that could change over the coming weeks, with the smartphone going up on the carrier’s website with a “coming soon” sign.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when the smartphone will actually arrive on the carrier’s shelves. But we like to think that the day is not far away now. At this point, users can’t do much apart from signing up to receive updates on the smartphone.
The Nexus 6 is Google’s latest flagship smartphone and its arrival on Verizon will certainly be welcomed by the fans.
The device packs a 5.96 inch QHD display, a 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 chipset, a 13-megapixel camera with OIS, a 2-megapixel front camera, 3GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of internal storage, Android 5.0 Lollipop with the promise of latest updates and a 3,220 mAh battery.

Motorola ships record 10M units over last quarter
Things are definitely looking up for Motorola as the company today announces a new record in shipments. Over the three month period ending on December 31, 2014, Motorola moved 10 million units. That’s up 118 percent year over year and the first time ever eclipsing the mark.
Now, to be fair, this can include the mobile phone business, Android tablets and TVs. What’s more, this is shipments and not sales. However, getting beyond that, it is a record for Motorola and they’ve just now broken into the Chinese market. Thanks to a device lineup that includes variations of the Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E, the next few quarters could be quite fun for the crew at Lenovo/Motorola.

Motorola sales doubled year on year, more than 10 million phones sold in Q4

Lenovo announced results for the first quarter with Motorola in the house, and everything seems to be going according to plan so far.
Lenovo completed the acquisition of Motorola from Google on October 30, following the announcement of the $2.9 billion deal in January 2014.
Lenovo’s plan to make Motorola profitable within six quarters is on track.
In the quarter that ended December, Motorola sold more than 10 million smartphones, a 118 percent increase over the same period last year. Motorola revenue was $1.9 billion, out of the total of $3.4 billion generated by Lenovo’s mobile unit, which includes Lenovo-branded smartphone, tablets, and TVs. However, the mobile unit ended in the red, with a loss of $89 million for the quarter.
According to IDC research, thanks to Motorola and its own brand devices, Lenovo grabbed 6.6 percent of the global smartphone market, behind only Samsung and Apple. That’s a 78 percent increase year on year.
Lenovo said that its plan to make Motorola profitable within six quarters is on track.
Lenovo highlighted its global reach (67 countries and counting) and slipped in a jab at Chinese mobile rivals (read Xiaomi) that make the bulk of their profits in China. That’s opposed to Lenovo, which sold 60 percent of its phones outside of China.
Overall, Lenovo beat analyst margins by a long shot, with net profit of $253 million, compared to the $184.6 million consensus of analysts consulted by Bloomberg. The Chinese giant even increased its PC sales by 5 percent, which is quite a performance given the general weakness of the market.
Lenovo is just getting started with Motorola, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the venerable phone maker. Motorola cost Google hundreds of millions each quarter, but Lenovo is confident it can turn it around relatively quickly. Lenovo just re-introduced the Motorola brand in China, while in the fast-growing Indian market, Motorola is already thriving, having sold three million units in 2014.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 in 60+ device design pipelines this year, with LG, OPPO, Sony, Motorola and others on-board
Much of what has been written over the last few weeks in regards to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor was negative. Not in the grand scheme of things, but due to information that Samsung wouldn’t be using the chip because it over heats. Just last week Qualcomm said it would be not working with one […]

1 million pre-orders for Moto X 2014 in China received in less than one week
In case anyone is wondering why so many smartphone manufacturers are trying to figure out how to get into the smartphone market in China, the Moto X 2014 may provide a good example. Although the device has been available for several months around the globe, Motorola is only now bringing it to China. Last Tuesday, January 27th, the company began to accept pre-orders for the Moto X 2014 and as of February 1st, over 1 million pre-orders had already been received.
This response is not entirely unprecedented in the Chinese market where we see local manufacturers routinely sell out of stock sometimes in mere seconds. For Motorola to come in with a relatively old device and put up numbers like this is a good sign that there may be some hope for the larger, more established market players to challenge some of China’s hot upstart companies like Xiaomi.

Motorola Moto G (2014) LTE model makes its way to Brazil

Towards the end of 2014, we reported that mention of the Motorola Moto G (2014) LTE surfaced on Motorola Brazil’s website. In addition to 4G connectivity, the new phone was set to bring a bigger 2390mAh battery, as opposed to the smaller 2070mAh battery we’ve seen in the past. The device has now officially launched, and can now be purchased on Motorola Brazil’s website. Since this version is a higher-end model, you’ll have to shell out a bit more for it. The new model is now being sold for R$ 899, which is roughly $335 USD.
Other than those two changes, the device still keeps the same 5-inch 720p display, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, MicroSD expansion up to 32GB, an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. For more information on the Moto G (2014), check out our full review.
Motorola definitely made a smart decision to release a 4G variant of one of their most popular handsets. The original Moto G has already sold really well in Brazil thanks to its cheap price point. And with the addition of LTE capabilities and a bigger battery, we wouldn’t doubt it if this variant sold better than the first one.
This release comes soon after Motorola announced that the Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen.) in India would get the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, as well as the 2nd Generation Moto G in the US. If you live in Brazil and are thinking about picking up this new model, it will likely be running Lollipop out of the box. If you’re still on KitKat, however, you’ll need to head to Settings>About phone>System updates to update manually.
If you’re looking to pick one up, head to the Motorola link below to grab your very own Moto G (2014) LTE. Anyone out there interested in this handset? Let us know in the comments!

Original post
The Moto X (1st Generation) was one of the best phones of 2013, offering a great user experience and customizable hardware for an inexpensive price tag. It was one of the first devices from Motorola that truly got users excited for inexpensive off-contract devices. Though the specifications may seem a bit outdated by now, the 2013 Moto X is still a great phone.
If you’re in the market for an inexpensive handset, Ebay is currently selling the Moto X (1st Generation) 32GB Developer Edition for only $199.99. The device comes with Verizon branding, and you can activate it on Verizon or any other GSM carrier (no Sprint or other CDMA carriers, unfortunately). The only model the seller has available is the Woven White color. Additionally, this device is brand new, so there’s no need to worry about forking over some cash for a refurbished model.
If you need a refresher, the 2013 Moto X comes with a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 10MP rear-facing camera, a 2200mAh battery on top of a slew of Motorola’s software enhancements. These certainly aren’t the best specifications by today’s standards, but you can’t really go wrong for the price. This model usually runs for around $300-$350, so we’d say this is a pretty good deal. We’re unsure as to how long this deal will run, so you better hurry before all of them sell out.
3 million Motorola smartphones sold in India last year

Early reports last year suggested that Motorola’s re-launch in India was going rather well, as the company shifted 1 million smartphones in only 5 months. Almost one year on from the brand’s regional reappearance, The Economic Times states that Motorola has now sold more than 3 million smartphones in India, proving that the company can compete with the cut-throat local competition.
According to the report, around half of Motorola’s sales in India came from its affordable Moto G and Moto E handsets, which offer reasonable specifications in a market with plenty of competitively priced options.
In the third quarter of 2014, Motorola claimed fifth spot in India, behind Samsung, Micromax, Lava and Karbonn. Previously, Motorola had not even ranked in the global top 10, so is clearly performing above expectations in India. However, since its acquisition by Lenovo, the two now make up the third largest manufacturer in the world, according to Counterpoint Research.
“We will be doubling up our efforts in India, which is a very critical market for us,” – Amit Boni, head of Motorola’s India operations
Motorola shows no signs up letting up in India and will be focusing more heavily on the country this year. As parts of its plans, Motorola is set to open its own experience stores across India, beginning in Bangalore. There are also rumors circulating that Morotola may release some of its future handsets in the country first and that its Moto Maker service may also be making its way to India.
With India expected to be one of the world’s fastest growing smartphone markets in 2015, the country could turn out to be a big earner for Motorola.
