Three unannounced Motorola handsets slide through the FCC
Three phones all belonging to Motorola recently stopped by the FCC. Leaked details have emerged about what could possible be Motorola’s new flagship, the Moto X (2015). Apparently, the project is known internally as ‘Kinzie’ and will come with a 5.5 inch QHD display. It features a body just larger than the DROID Turbo, supports quicker charging, 802.11ac MiMo WiFi, LTE Advanced, and almost all of the LTE bands outside of Verizon’s in the United States. We can expect to see the device hit the market around mid fall.
The second phone that passed through the FCC seems to be a Verizon exclusive with a smaller body. We are looking at a mid-range device, possibly some kind of DROID Mini successor. It will come with a smaller battery than the aforementioned beast, a removable back and around a 5.2-inch display. The handset has AHDT56UB1 as its ID number.
The third and final handset appears to be headed to Sprint. It has a FCC ID of IHDT56QG6. It appears to be very similar in specs to the mid-range phone listed above; however, this device is smaller than both of those mentioned above and lacks 802.11ac WiFi, which the first handset has included, and the second mentioned above does not. This has led us to believe it is another mid-range device. In addition, it also has no removable back. Since its specs match up close to last years Moto G, we expect this to be the third generation Moto G.
The specifications to all these phones can be found at the source links. More information to come.

Republic Wireless now selling the Moto E (2015)
“Beautifully simple, simply priced.” That’s the phrase that Republic Wireless is using to market the Motorola Moto E (2015) to its customers. The carrier started selling the entry-level device today at the very affordable price of $129. And, yes, this is for the 4G LTE model.
Not a bad price on top of Republic Wireless’ new refund plans.
Republic Wireless has the Moto E (2015) in black and white color options, both of which have 8GB of internal storage. Not enough for you? Then the carrier has a 16GB microSD card from Kingston available for $16 at checkout. Alleged images of Motorola lineup of new devices shows up
A new image has surfaced on the Facebook page for hellomotoHK which purports to show the back side of four forthcoming Motorola devices. The image claims to show a Droid “Mini” device, the third generation Moto G, a new Droid device, and a third generation Moto X. Assuming the information is accurate, the Droid devices should be hitting Verizon sometime this fall adorned with what appears to be a Kevlar inspired design for the back cover.
Considering how some of the lines are not aligned, the image may be a rather poorly done PhotoShop. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Motorola has slowly been expanding its Moto Maker capabilities over the years, but it has stayed firmly the primary realm of the Moto X smartphones. As a leak from @evleaks is suggesting, however, it looks like the Moto G 2015 will get the Moto Maker treatment this year with lots of coloured variants featured in a leaked image. Check it out below:
Of course, not all the colour combinations there are fantastic, but it’s enough to tell us that the Moto G 2015 could be seeing just as much customization as the Moto X – no wood material back covers though. In a separate rumour, it’s been alleged that the Moto G 2015 could be getting 2GB of RAM as opposed to the originally suspected 1GB RAM – that might just be wishful thinking, but we’re happy not to discount this rumour until Motorola actually announces the device.
What do you think about the Moto G 2015 being available through Moto Maker? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Motorola may expand the Moto Maker club to include the upcoming Moto G (2015)
One of the great things about the Android operating system is being able to customize the software to our hearts content. There is absolutely no reason the layout on any two phones should appear the same unless it’s by design. Motorola offered even more freedom of choice when it released its Moto Maker customization tool allowing Moto X owners to customize their phones on the outside as well. Now it seems that Motorola is getting ready to expand Moto Maker to cover the upcoming Moto G (2015 edition).

This is according to that semi-retired serial leaker, @evleaks (Evan Blass), who tweeted the above message. While it isn’t concrete proof that the Moto Maker will cover the Moto G (2015), he does have a solid reputation when it comes to leaks. What do you think? If the leak is confirmed, would being able to customize your phone’s outward appearance draw you to the Moto G (2015)?

We already have a pretty good idea of what the Moto G 2015 is going to look like, but thanks to some more 3D renders circulating the Internet today, we’re getting yet another look at it today, this time from all angles. The renders were produced unofficially be an anonymous accessories manufacturer, but you can be pretty sure, based on what we already know, that these images are pretty close to the real thing. Check out all the images below:
Overall, the Moto G 2015 doesn’t look to have changed much – the textbook curved back of a Motorola device is still there, as is the audio jack smack bang in the middle of the top edge. As we’ve noticed before, the only significant different in the design is the addition of a plate on the back of the device, stretching from the camera down to the middle of the device – it appears to be cosmetic only. Rumoured specs for the Moto G 2015 include a Snapdragon 410, 5-inch 720p display, 1GB RAM and a 13MP rear camera – not much difference from last year, but hopefully this keeps the price of the handset well down as well.

Chilean telecom leaks Moto X Sport and 3rd gen Moto G
Chilean tech blog Pisapapeles recently obtained information from a reliable source within Chilean telecom Entel, that leaks a new variant of the Moto X and the next generation Moto G.
The new variant of the Moto X is called the Moto X Sport and boasts the following specs.
- 5.2″ Screen (current generation: 5.2″)
- 1.5 GHz quad-core processor (current generation: 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor)
- 16MP rear facing camera (current generation: 13MP)
- 5MP front facing camera (current generation: 2MP)

Moto G spec leaks
- 5″ Screen (current generation: 5″)
- 1.4 GHz quad-core processor (current generation: 1.2 GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor)
- 13MP rear facing camera (current generation: 8MP)
- 5MP front facing camera (current generation: 2MP)

While the Moto G’s specs seem like a natural evolution, it’s unclear why the Moto X Sport would change to a slower processor. It could be a misprint, carrier speculation, or just wrong information. What do you think? Is this legit? Sound off in the comments.

Unlocked Moto G (1st Gen.) with LTE now receiving Android 5.1 in the US

Motorola may be gearing up to launch the Moto G (3rd Gen.) sometime soon, but that doesn’t mean the company is slacking on updating its current devices. If you happen to reside in the U.S. and own an unlocked Moto G (1st Gen.) with LTE, an update to Android 5.1 Lollipop should be on its way sometime very soon. The update began making its way to devices just last night, though it may take some time to come to all unlocked variants in the United States. Motorola began the 5.1 soak test for this device only a few weeks ago, so we were expecting to hear this news any day now.
With the update comes a variety of features and enhancements that have been showcased in a video by our own Joe Hindy, which can be found attached below. For the full list of improvements from Motorola, click here.
Motorola has been very busy over the past couple of weeks, pushing the Android 5.1 update to a variety of its devices. Motorola’s update schedule is a great example of why near-vanilla Android is a good way to go. Without heavy custom skins, the company is able to optimize Google’s code fairly quickly, and push it to more devices that wouldn’t normally have gotten an update.
Note that it will likely take a while for Motorola to push out the staged release to all devices in the US, so hang tight. If you have the update, let us know in the comments what you think of it.
Android 5.1 Lollipop now rolling out to the AT&T Motorola Moto X (1st Gen.)

If you’re the lucky owner of a Motorola Moto X (1st Gen.) on AT&T’s network, you’ll be happy to hear that the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop is now making its way to your device. The update comes in at a hefty 701MB download and will bring your device’s system version up to 222.26.1.
The update to Android 5.1 Lollipop brings with it a number of bug fixes and performance improvements, along with a few other notable changes. You’ll now be able to manage your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections directly from the quick settings panel, and you should notice a few other improvements to the screen pinning functionality, system volume controls, and more. Aside from a few other improvements on Motorola’s side, our own Joe Hindy made an informative video that lays out most of the big changes you’ll find in the update. Check it out below:
As is the case with most other updates, it might take a few days to make its way to your device. To check for your update manually, head to Settings>About phone>System update>Check for update. Be sure to let us know when it comes to your device!
Unlocked Moto G LTE now getting Android 5.1 in the United States
Motorola has begun pushing out Android 5.1 for the Unlocked Moto G LTE in the United States. Those sporting the device should begin seeing a prompt to download the OTA update shortly.
Motorola earlier released the kernel source code for the update, and many have been able to flash Android 5.1 ROMs on their devices because of that. Unfortunately, if you’re running root or your device is modified in anyway, Motorola’s OTA update will fail.
Keep in mind that updates like these do take some time to get to everyone. Motorola rolls out the update to a small group of people, then a larger group, and so on until everybody is running Android 5.1 on their devices. If you can’t wait for the official over-the-air update, be sure keep an eye on the XDA forums for an OTA image. The build version for this update is 21.11.56.peregrine_retus.retus.en.US
The update brings with it a load of cool features, such as the Material Design UI, improved notification controls, a better battery saver, improved security, and more.
Motorola has been updating all of its Moto devices with the latest flavor of Android recently. There’s still a few devices for it to hit, such as the Moto X (2013) on AT&T, but it shouldn’t be long before everyone has access to Lollipop.
Has anyone received the update just yet?
