Moto X (2015) pictures and leaks coming fast and furious
We’re fast approaching the time of year when Motorola announces its Moto X and/or Moto G smartphones. With an event scheduled for July 28, it’s possible we get to see both devices introduced in but a few days.
Although the leaks and rumors have been circulating for the next-generation Moto X and Moto G, things have been picking up as of late. For the more powerful flagship model, the Moto X, the details are coming at a quicker clip this week.
The pictures above, courtesy of Peru Android’s Facebook page, show what could be the 2015 Moto X with a front-facing flash in the top right corner. Details observed in the photos may include a true stereo front-facing speaker layout, metallic-ish frame, and textured rear cover.
Below is a picture from hellomotoHK which is alleged to be an actual photo and not a render. Matching up with the others, it looks to have a champagne colored trim that matches the Moto 360.
Rumored and Unconfirmed Specs May Include
- 5.2-inch QHD AMOLED display (2560 × 1440 pixels)
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor
- Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
- 32/64GB storage capacity
- 4GB RAM
- 16-megapixel rear camera
- 5-megapixel front-facing camera
Reportedly, Motorola Senior Director of Product Management, Mark Rose, posted a couple of photos to Google+ which have since been deleted (h/t AndroidPit). Depending on how much weight you put behind it, these might be some of the first samples of the rear camera for the Moto X 2015. Keep in mind that these are shrunken down and have likely lost some of the original quality.
Whether it’s launched next week or not, we’re getting very anxious to see what Motorola has for us. How about you?

Motorola slashes the price of the second-generation Moto E in India
Motorola has slashed the price of the second-generation Moto E in India in preparation for the launch of its successor later this year. The handset is now available to purchase from Flipkart for Rs. 5,999 ($94) for the 3G model and Rs. 6999 ($109) for the 4G variant — which is a Rs. 1000 ($15) reduction for both versions.
In terms of value for money, the 4G Moto E would be your best bet. It features a more powerful Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor, whilst the 3G handset packs a quad-core Snapdragon 200 chipset. The 4G also incorporates LTE support, which makes it a little more bang for your buck when compared to its counterpart.

Report: Moto X (2015) will come in a gold color option
Gold…once the standard on which the USD was based, the consummate color is now content to live out its silver years as a paint pallet for smartphones. Recent years have seen everyone from Samsung, LG, HTC and countless others embrace it. Now it seems, Lenovo’s Motorola is quite interested as a new leak out of China shows liberal use on the soon-to-be announced Moto X (2015):
As can be seen in the above picture, the (presumably) aluminum frame construction of the phone is gold colored, not unlike that which was found on a variant of last year’s Moto 360. The color also extends to the housing of the camera and infamous “Moto dimple” adding an extra touch of class that looks quite nice on this white-backed phone. With a gold option, Moto Maker will presumably bring the frame color range up to three, with a dark grey and light silver rounding out the trio, provided history repeats itself.
It will be interesting to see just how Motorola designates the Gold frame, if only for the fact that Moto Maker has yet to give shoppers an option to select their desires color. On the contrary, choosing a black front nets the dark frame, and a white front results in the lighter variant. Will Motorola finally give customers the ability to manually chose between the different options? Will it be limited to a choice for only the white bezel? It remains to be seen, though we suspect that – especially in China where gold color options do quite well – it will quickly sell out and incur a wait.
My own personal Moto X (2014) looks particularly nice with the light bamboo rear and contrasting dark frame. What kind of interesting combos will result from this year’s collection?
Expected to be announced on July 28 at a press event, the Moto X is rumored to have a 5.2 inch QHD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 808 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of on-board storage, a 16-megapixel clear pixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera (with flash). It will purportedly ship with Android 5.1.1, contain a 3280 mAh battery, and once again have front-firing stereo speakers. Given that Samsung is the most likely supplier of the display, it will be of particular interest to see how it fares in comparison to the Galaxy S6 should both be QHD.

Latest leak may offer a look at Moto G (2015) customization options with Moto Maker
Alleged press render of the upcoming 2015 Moto G.
For those who have used Moto Maker to purchase their prized product, the experience is perhaps unlike any that rival OEMs can provide. The ability to manually select key elements of a new smartphone and craft something that is truly unique even among those peers who also buy it was so profound, we at Android Authority mused as to if Motorola had the right design philosophy all along. For those unfamiliar with the website, Moto Maker allows the visitor to alter the look of their phone in terms of the front housing, the rear cover, design accents, and storage size. It also lets you engrave a personal motto or name on the back, add a line of text to the boot animation, and pre-set the default home screen background.
Of the three smartphone lines Motorola currently sells, the Moto X, Moto G, and the Moto E, only the first is currently compatible with Moto Maker. Recently, rumors have been floating around that this year will see the inclusion of the Moto G into the mix, and it here that the newest leak provides a peek:

While the validity of this image is up for consideration (it looks real but could be the product of careful editing), assuming it is legitimate there are a few things about the Moto G (2015)’s design potential:
1. The rear cover will come in different colors, however all are standard variants, presumably of a matte or smooth plastic construction. This is a step down from the Moto X (2014) which has options for both leather and natural (wood/bamboo) options. Presumably the lower cost of the G is to blame for the removal, with those customers seeking out premium parts better served with the flagship instead.
2. The accents can be customized. While this typically means the front speaker grill elements, the back side of the Moto X and G (2015) look to have a modified enclosure for the camera and Moto “dimple” and thus the color choice will be far more visible on the phone. Unfortunately without additional information this is just speculation; it is possible the rear unit will be fixed as a standard color.
3. The phone will have both 8 and 16GB storage options and include 2GB of RAM.
4. Motorola will produce a Flip Shell cover for the device, available in 5 color options.
Missing from this screen is any mention of personalization, which we can assume is once again due to cost cutting for a mid-tier phone, however at least the initial set-up wallpaper selection option is included.
Note the new camera and dimple enclosure frame that seems to be part of Motorola’s 2015 design language.
The Moto G (2015) is expected to be unveiled at an upcoming Motorola press event on July 28th, along side the Moto X (2015) and a rumored “Moto X Sport Edition”. It will allegedly feature a 5-inch FHD screen as opposed to the 720p seen on the 2014 edition. Other possible elements include LTE and a 1.7GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 610 CPU along with Android 5.1.1.
Does the potential to customize the Moto G with Moto Maker increase your interest in the phone? Assuming this leak is legitimate, has Motorola provided enough options to warrant Moto Maker support? Please leave your opinions in the comments section below.
Next-gen Moto X leaks hint at a big screen and a front flash
Motorola just can’t keep its next-generation smartphones under wraps, apparently. Both Peru Android and Google+ user Paul Faz have posted photos that reportedly show the third-generation Moto X in considerably greater detail than earlier leaks. For a start, this is a beast of a device — while it’s unclear just how big that display is, Faz pegs it at 5.5 inches. In other words, Motorola might be headed into LG G4 territory with a big screen in a relatively compact body. Also, the shots support rumors that Motorola would join the likes of HTC by including a front camera flash for those nighttime selfies. It’s not totally certain that you’ll see this device at Motorola’s July 28th event, but it’s at least plausible.

Leaked Moto X (2015) images suggest front-facing flash and fingerprint in speaker

The Moto X (2015) should be right around the corner, as Motorola has been making it a habit to release its flagship phones sometime between August and September. As you can expect, the rumor mill is going full speed and is not stopping anytime soon. More images and details have emerged today, coming from Peruvian Facebook page ‘Perú Android’.
The Facebook page is very active and claims to have gotten these images and details from an anonymous source. Perú Android is clear to say they can’t really confirm the information’s validity 100%, but the evidence does look enticing. For starters, the leak tells us the phone should come with a 2K display and a 21 MP rear-facing camera.

This is not necessarily huge news, but it’s what the images showcase that has us scratching our heads. These photos suggest the phone will come with an integrated front-facing flash, solving your low-light selfie woes (which we touched on just yesterday). In addition, the rumored fingerprint reader may have a rather unique placement. Instead of putting it in the back, this source claims Motorola opted to build the fingerprint sensor right into the lower front speaker.

If this is the case, the new Moto X would be the first device in which any major manufacturer manages to seamlessly integrate a fingerprint sensor without wasting too much space. Others have a dedicated spot for the reader, or opt to integrate it into the home button. By implementing this new technique, Motorola would effectively be able to keep a low bezel-to-screen ratio and still add biometric functionality.
As with any rumor, you should take this with a healthy dose of salt. Not even Perú Android is completely sure about this information, so you shouldn’t hold your breath on it, either. As for additional specs, other rumors say the Moto X (2015) should feature a Snapdragon 808 processor, 4 GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch QHD screen and a 3280 mAh battery.

We should be able to confirm all official details in some days, once Motorola takes the stage this July 28th. In the meantime, enjoy the images and let us know what you think about the new rumors. Were you hoping for a front-facing flash? Do you prefer Motorola’s possible new fingerprint sensor location?
Alleged Motorola Moto X (2015) images show front-facing camera with flash
The quality of front-facing cameras has improved dramatically over the last twenty-four months. Taking a picture with a front-facing camera, or a ‘selfie’ for that matter, now produces results that are worth sharing. Companies like HTC and Sony have even released devices with flash on the front to really maximize performance. Flagships, though, have yet to start including front-facing flash. This summer, that could change with the introduction of the Moto X (2015). Images shared online today show what is allegedly Motorola’s next flagship and a front-facing camera paired with flash is present.
Hit the break to see the image.
As with all Motorola devices, this one seems to have an entertaining boot animation.
Nothing out of the ordinary here. If anything, the display seems taller than its predecessor; however, that could be due to the angling of the photograph.
The new versions of Motorola’s Moto X and Moto G are expected to be unveiled at a company event held on July 28.

We’ve heard lots about the Moto G that Motorola intends to release this year, however we haven’t heard as much about the Motorola Moto X 3rd gen. Today, we get one of our best looks at the device thanks to some leaked photos, and unsurprisingly, it shares the same design language as the leaked photos of the Moto G that we have seen – overall, the shape of the device is the same, however the back of the device has changed to join the rear camera to the little dimple with the Motorola logo in it with a plastic strip. Check out the photos below:
There isn’t a huge amount that we can glean from these photos – it’s alleged the Moto X will have a 5.2-inch display, and we see that the dual front speakers return again. The source of the leak claims that there is also a fingerprint sensor embedded in the bottom speaker grille, though we’re pretty sceptical about this. And it’s rumoured that the Moto G will have IPX7 water resistance, so we hope the Moto X gets the same treatment. Motorola is due to have an event held on July 28th so we’re quietly hopeful that Motorola announces all its new devices at this event including the Moto X, Moto G, Moto E and new Moto 360 – here’s to hoping.

Here’s your clearest look yet at the next Moto G
If there was any doubt left that Motorola will unveil a new Moto G at its July 28th event, Swiss retailer Digitec just removed it. The store has posted listings for a “3rd gen” Moto G that offers the clearest look yet at what this budget smartphone will likely deliver. Besides a fresher design, it could be far more potent than its predecessor — Digitec claims that the new G touts a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, LTE and a 1.7GHz quad-core chip (likely the 64-bit Snapdragon 610). If it weren’t for the 8GB of expandable storage, this could easily pass for a mid-range phone. You probably won’t have to pay mid-range prices, though, since the G tentatively costs $245 off-contract in Switzerland. We’d still take the listings with a grain of salt, since retailers occasionally botch specs. If they’re accurate, though, they suggest that you’re in for a treat if you want an affordable, near-stock Android phone this summer.
