MotoMaker customization options for the Moto X Style
The Moto X Style was announced last week along with the Moto G and Moto X Play. Unfortunately, the Moto X Play does not appear to be coming to the US, but the Moto X Style will make an appearance under the name of Moto X Pure Edition according to Motorola’s US website.
The Moto G is already on sale now, and we are well aware of all the color combinations available for the Moto G. What we weren’t to sure about was what color options will be available for the Moto X Style/Pure Edition.
Today, I am happy to share with you all of the 18 color inlays, 7 accent colors and 3 frame options that will be made available for the Moto X Style.
As you can see, there are 4 leather options, 4 wood options and 10 CSR options for the back of the Moto X.
CSR, coated silicon rubber, is a soft grip back that is meant to have a soft feel and a warm look. The silicon was created specifically to resist discoloration and keep its color throughout time so that you can choose the brightest color and have confidence that it won’t lose its color.
The four leather options still come from the Horween tannery just like last year’s leather options.
Looking at the graphic above, what color combinations would you pick? I am thinking a cabernet CSR backing with dark gray accents just like I said I would pick for the Moto G. I just happen to really like purple, and I am not apologizing for it!

Android Authority this week – August 2, 2015

Android fans, this week brought us not one, but two excellent smartphones selling for just $400, the OnePlus 2 and the Moto X Style. In other top news, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus leaked extensively, details and images of Sony’s next smartphones surfaced, and Google rebooted Android One with the new Lava Pixel V1.
Inside AA HQ
It’s clear from the events of this week that the next battleground for smartphone domination is the $400 price range. While phones like the Axon, Zenfone 2, and even the OnePlus 2 are important, when Motorola entered the fray with its own no-compromise flagship phone, the game has changed for good. It will be very interesting to see how Samsung, LG, or HTC react to this paradigm shift over the next months.
We have a new team member! Krystal has published her first review on Thursday and the reactions have been very positive. Yes, AA finally has a woman in the team, but we’re happy to see that you guys like Krystal’s tech knowledge and video editing skills. Let Krystal’s AA video be the first of many.
This week’s giveaway is a beautifully slim Oppo R7. Head over here to get your ticket and good luck!

Names for two possible new Verizon Motorola Droid smartphones leaked

Rumors about a new Motorola Droid for Verizon have been circulating on the web, and reports claim that this device will be the successor of the Droid Turbo, the Droid Turbo 2. According to a new report from @evleaks, in addition to a Droid Turbo 2, Motorola will also release a Droid Maxx 2, the successor of the 2013 Droid Maxx.
No specific information were given about the devices’ specs and features, however we are expecting that the Droid Turbo 2 will come with high-end specs just like its predecessor. A previous leak from Hellomotohk (Facebook) revealed images of what could be the upcoming Droid Turbo 2 rear panel, suggesting that it could feature wireless charging capability. Below is @evleaks twitter post announcing the report;

We have the Moto G 2015: Ask us Anything!

This week saw Motorola announce not one but three new smartphones and one of them, the Moto G 2015, is the latest edition in the widely popular range. At a starting price of just $159.99, the Moto G 2015 has a lot going for it and while there’s a lot of content, some of you may still have questions about Motorola’s latest handset.
Is there a catch? Does the Moto G 2015 offer everything you need? On paper, the specs are pretty impressive including a 5.0-inch HD screen, optional dual SIM, LTE, IPx7 water resistance certification, a quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1/2GB RAM, a 13MP camera and a lot more. Given the impressive specs and durability, this may just be the perfect handset for those on a specific budget and/or looking for the best affordable smartphone.

Curious about the Moto G 2015? We’ve got a hold of the device and I am in the process of putting a review together. In the meantime, we wanted to give you the opportunity to ask us anything about the Moto G 2015. If you have a specific question and want it answered, hit up our Moto G 2015 forum page and shoot us over any questions. Myself and other Android Authority team members will be checking in frequently and you can also leave your questions below, where we’ll do our best to answer anything!
Here’s where you can buy the Moto G (2015)
Motorola has made great strides with its Moto G series, somehow packing low-end specs into the device while making it as fast as a Samsung Galaxy S6 or even the Nexus 6. It’s truly impressive, and it’s hard to pass up at its low price point, starting at $189.99 for the 8GB model.
Interestingly, the Moto G was the only device that immediately became available to buy right after Motorola’s three-way event in London, New York City, and São Paulo. If you’re interested in picking one up yourself, we’ve put together a list of retailers where you can buy the new Moto G, at least as far as United States availability goes.
Amazon
The Moto G is available from Amazon in both white and black. However, the popular online retailer is only selling the model with 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. That said, you won’t be able to find the heftier 16GB model here. As an added bonus, if you have Amazon Prime, it should only take two days to get to you, or you can choose 1-day shipping at an extremely discounted rate.
Best Buy
Similar to Amazon, Best Buy is also selling the Moto G in only 8GB models. Unfortunately, you cannot purchase the device in-store until August 2. That said, you’re kind of stuck with buying the 8GB Moto G through their online website. However, they are offering free shipping with the device, so there’s a plus.
Motorola
The downside to purchasing the Moto G through Amazon or Best Buy is that you will not get to customize it. Yes, for the first time with the Moto G, Motorola is allowing its customers to customize the device through the Moto Maker, which opens up all sorts of great additions, such as vibrant color choices and engraving. As an additional plus, Motorola is selling the 16GB model with 2GB of RAM for $40 more at $209.99.
Is anyone picking up a new Moto G this week?

Motorola Moto app gets update to adjust to your location
One of the ways that Motorola has tried to entice buyers for their smartphones is by providing them with unique capabilities relative to the standard device. This is accomplished through a variety of apps that operate on top of, yet separate from, the Android operating system. One of those apps, Moto, got an update today that adjusts the phone based on your location.
The new version of Moto will learn places you visit like home, work or even a movie theater. Users can then set the phone to automatically silence itself or switch to vibrate while you are at that location.
Moto does require a compatible Motorola phone. You can check for the list of compatible devices by visiting the Play Store using one of the links below.

Hands on with the Motorola Moto G (2015)
Motorola announced new hardware this week at events held in New York City, São Paulo, and London. Specifically, three phones debuted: the Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and Moto G (2015). While the two Moto X models will launch over the next two months, the new Moto G is already available around the world. It’s a mid-range device with premium build quality and respectable specifications. Motorola improved the look and feel of the Moto G, adding a new silicon rear and metallic accents that are a treat to touch. The camera received a bump as well to 13MP. Design and the camera are two areas that consumers wanted to see change and Motorola has seemingly delivered.

The new Moto G, which is customizable through Moto Maker, starts at $179 without any contract or carrier involvement. That price is for the base model with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Changing those figures to 2GB and 16GB, respectively, raises the price of the Moto G to $219.
