Moto X+1 render leaks, case included

Motorola’s Moto X was a positive surprise last year. It didn’t have cutting edge specs, but it worked like a charm carrying some useful features along with it. All that packed in a relatively small body considering a 4.7″ screen. Due to this fact we now expect more from Moto X+1 than we did with the Moto X.
After the phone got confirmed by accident and its details and launch date leaked we got even more interested in it. Thanks to @evleaks we now have a render of the phone itself, unfortunately there’s a case on it though. Despite the case, which covers up parts of the device, those bezels look thicker than they should be. We could be more certain of this if that case wasn’t on it, but it sure looks like those bezels shouldn’t be that thick. even the ones on the top and bottom of the phone.
What do you think, do you like it or are you in the same boat as we are?

New Motorola boot animation catches the World Cup Fever
Unless you live under a really big rock, you will be aware that the 2014 FIFA World Cup is currently underway in Brazil. Seeing as this is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, Motorola has decided to give a little themed flair to its boot animation to celebrate soccer all over the world. You can check out the new Motorola boot animation in the video below:
Owners of the Moto X, Moto G and Moto E should have seen the update from Tuesday this week, but if you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to make sure your Motorola Boot Services app is up to date. This isn’t the first time that Motorola has changed the boot animation on its devices; Motorola has also made cool animations to mark April Fool’s Day and also the start of Autumn or Spring, depending on which hemisphere you live in. It’s not game changing, but it’s always nice to see that a manufacturer likes to do the little things to make things a bit different for its users.
What do you think about the new Motorola boot animation? Do you appreciate these little things that Motorola has been doing? Let us know what you think in the comments.

The Motorola Moto 360 may retail for £199.99 in the U.K.
The Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch has garnered some attention in the past week after being inadvertantly (or advertantly) shown off on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show. It wasn’t supposed to be the star of the show, but it was nonetheless spotted on the wrist of The Verge’s Chief Editor, James Topolsky, suggesting again that the device is going to be announced in the very near future. For some time, we’ve been wondering how much the Moto 360 is going to cost at launch, and popular U.K. retailer, Mobile Fun, has recently suggested that the Moto 360 may retail for £199.99 in the U.K.
After rumours that the Moto 360 was going to cost €249 in Europe, the pricing for the device is starting to become a bit clearer. Both the U.K. and Europe pricing seem to suggest that an equivalent price in the U.S. would be $340 USD, however we know pricing can vary region to region, particularly as the Moto 360 is likely being manufactured in America itself. And seeing as Motorola itself has suggested the Moto 360 is worth about $249 USD (albeit for tax purposes), you can bet that the price is going to be that ballpark region.
Is the Moto 360 looking like a sure purchase for you? Are these prices what you’re expecting for the Android Wear smartwatch? Let us know what you think in the comments.

‘Try Then Buy’ promo cut short, makes way for 64GB Moto X

Motorola allowed customers to sample a Moto X with their ‘Try Then Buy’ scheme which loaned a device for two weeks for the price of only 1¢, but Motorola have now cut short the campaign claiming they have sold all the devices allocated to the promotion.
The ‘Try Then Buy’ scheme only went live this morning, but the company claim the response was overwhelming and quantities didn’t last long at all, forcing Motorola to cut the campaign short.
However, it seems the scheme may have been a way to shift the last few units of stock in order to make way for the Moto X 64GB variation, as Motorola have announced the availability of the device for $449.99.
You can still buy a Moto X 16GB and 32GB outside of the promotion, which sell for $349.99 and $399.99 respectively.

Motorola doubles the Moto X’s storage and lets you try one for a penny
Motorola has just released a 64GB version of its customizable Moto X handset, and is extra keen to get one in your hands. It just launched a promotion that will allow you to put a nominal $.01 deposit down on that or any Moto X model, and customize it using Moto Maker. It’ll then ship it out, and once you’ve had a look you can either pay for it (the new 64GB version is $450) or send it back, with no hard feelings or strings attached. The cynical among us may say that it’s anxious to unload stock as a result of its acquisition by Lenovo and the resulting Texas plant closure, though Motorola says otherwise. Either way, it seems sure that you won’t be able to resist a Moto X of your own design once it’s in your hands. We don’t disagree — but for that price, we’re also tempted by other options.

Android 4.4.3 OTA update for the Motorola Moto G Captured
With every passing day, more devices are being updated to the latest software update available to Android, Android 4.4.3. Nexus and Motorola devices are typically the first beneficiaries of new software and this latest update is no different. The Android 4.4.3 OTA update for the Motorola Moto G has just been captured by XDA Senior Member, SamsungAdmire (ironic name noted), and is slightly larger at 169MB than the OTA updates that we’ve seen for the Nexus 7, which only come in at around 70MB. This is no doubt due to some Motorola “bloat”, however you can expect the OTA updates for other manufacturers to be even bigger. If you’re interested in giving the update a go, you can download it at the XDA forum page here.
For the OTA update to work on your Moto G, you must have stock recovery and be very close to stock conditions. It’s also important to note that the update in question was captured on a U.S. GSM device, which could make it unworkable with the global GSM devices, though that much is unconfirmed so far. It may also be possible to flash the Android 4.4.2 image of the U.S. GSM Moto G in order to make the update work. If anybody tries this method and is successful, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.
Have you tried Android 4.4.3 yet? What fixes are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below.

Moto X+1 gets confirmed by accident

Motorola’s Moto X smartphone was one of last year’s biggest surprises. It didn’t have the top specs, but it ran buttery smooth and it had some of Motorola’s really useful features. Moto X+1 should be Moto X’s successor and it has leaked several times thus far. First it made a brief appearance on Motorola’s website and then its specifications leaked.
This time around Motorola’s VP of Product Management, Punit Soni, may have accidentally confirmed Moto X+1. He tried to prove that Moto G’s permanent label that is displaying carrier name will be fixed in the future update. He took a screenshot to do so, but he did it on a 1080p screen while Moto X and Moto G both have a 720p screens.
Moto X’s successor is expected to arrive late this summer, as Motorola tweeted in February. Do you own a Moto X smartphone and are you looking forward to Moto X+1 or whatever they decide to call it?

Motorola XOOM 3 leak appears online

A new picture has been leaked online that is claiming to be the Motorola XOOM 3, giving an insight into what could have been.
The abandoned tablet features a slim bezel and what appears to be a kevlar rear casing, similar to that found on DROID smartphones last year.
The source states that the XOOM 3 pictured has been abandoned so we more than likely won’t be seeing this hit the market anytime soon, but it does give an insight into what could have been.
