Motorola announces which devices will get Android 5.0
Now that Android Lollipop and Motorola’s enormous Nexus 6 are official, Moto has clarified which of their devices will be seeing the update to Android 5.0. The good news? If you own any kind of recent Motorola device, you’re probably getting this update.
Both the old and new Moto X will see the update, as well as all versions of the Moto G. The Moto E is also getting updated, and Verizon’s lineup of the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini are, too. That covers pretty much every major device Motorola has announced within the past two years.
No word on exactly when you’ll start seeing these updates, but Motorola has been very quick with their devices lately. Now we’ll just have to wait on HTC and others to clear things up.

Unbox Therapy sets the record straight by bending iPhone 6 Plus and tries a Moto X 2014 to compare
If you have been following tech news this week, you might have heard about ‘Bendgate’ which is the alleged weakness of the newly released iPhone 6 Plus to resist fairly ordinary handling and bend quite severely. And not that good type of bending demonstrated by the LG G Flex; this looks to be a design flaw in the iPhone 6 Plus and looks like it will undermine Apple’s first attempt at a phablet device. The Apple faithful have been putting on a brave face and claiming that this is either untrue or those who have been testing it have been using excessive force. YouTuber Unbox Therapy has gone on record today to prove exactly how easy this bending occurs, and promptly tries to bend the new Moto X 2014 to show exactly how a normal phone should work.
Suffice to say that Apple probably needs to go back to the drawing board and try again. Quite a contrast to the Moto X 2014, which held its own in this brief test, and yet another feather in Motorola’s cap for making another robust device. The Moto X 2014, which was announced during IFA 2014 just a few weeks ago, combines much of the latest tech available to smartphones including a 5.2-inch display powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor. While that might not be the absolute newest processor available, the original Moto X proved Motorola can do a lot with a supposedly “underpowered” processor, let alone one of the best available. We can’t wait to see more of them in action.
What do you think about the Moto X 2014 and this whole ‘Bendgate’ ordeal? Let us know your thoughts.

Meet Engadget’s new buyer’s guide picks: The iPhone 6, Moto X and more!
Here at Engadget, we make good on our promises. So when we say we’re going to be updating our buyer’s guide more frequently, well, gosh darn, we mean it. Roughly two months after we re-launched the guide, we’re adding a bunch of new gadgets, including the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the new Moto X, HTC One M8 for Windows, the Acer C720 Chromebook, the NVIDIA Shield gaming tablet and the Moto 360 smartwatch. Of course, we also had to remove some of our original picks to make room for the new ones: The new, 5.2-inch Moto X takes the place of the old 4.7-inch one, while the Moto 360 overtakes the Samsung Gear Live — formerly our favorite Android Wear device. We’re also getting rid of all the BlackBerrys for now. That’s not to say BBM hold-outs should switch operating systems, but until we get to try the new BlackBerry Passport, we’re going to refrain from including those older models. Check out our guide right here, and stay tuned for more updates next month — who knows what we’ll be adding then!

Sprint Won’t Offer new Moto X (2014)

Do you have Sprint? Do you like the brand new Moto X, with new custom backs, a larger screen, updated Moto Voice, Moto Display, and a bunch of other cool features? If you said yes to both, then too bad.
Yesterday morning a twitter user asked Motorola “When will the new Moto X be available to Sprint customers????” to which Motorola responded: “The new Moto X won’t be available on the Sprint network. Thanks for checking in.”
I love my first gen Moto X, and other sites have very positively reviewed the second gen Moto X, with even The Verge giving it the highest rating for an Android device on the site. If I was in a position to, I’d get the second gen Moto X in a heartbeat. It’d be very unfortunate to find I couldn’t because my wireless provider didn’t provide it. One twitter user even said “this is exactly why I’m leaving @sprint”.
What would you do?

Moto Maker now available in France, Germany, and the UK

Residents in France, Germany, and the UK can finally enjoy the functionality that the US have had for some time now and can now use the Moto Maker facility to customise the new Moto X.
Despite the device not yet being available in those regions, Moto X went live for the regions pretty much the same time the new Moto X was made available in the US.
Despite that, you can still go ahead and design your Moto X and the design will be emailed to you, ready to be retrieved when the Moto X does launch.

Create your own Moto X: Moto Maker now available in the UK
Motorola’s new Moto X might not be sale in the UK yet, but that isn’t stopping the company from letting customers create their own designs ahead of its release. Today, for the first time, Brits can get to grips with Moto Maker, Motorola’s web-based customisation tool, allowing them to choose the finish, colours, cases, storage and even engraving options for their Moto X before putting down (at least) £419.99 to buy one. Moto Maker comes to the UK with a number of additional customisations in tow, including a new leather finish (that’ll cost £20 extra and adds to the traditional plastic and wooden options) and a choice to include metal accents on the power and volume buttons, speaker grilles and that big Motorola logo on the back. On the subject of storage, you’ll be forced to pay an extra £40 if you want the 32GB model, as the Moto X doesn’t come with a microSD slot. Currently, you can only use Moto Maker to create your bespoke design and email it to yourself, allowing you to pick it back up and apply it when the Moto X eventually goes on sale later this month.
