Fossil shows off Android Wear smartwatch powered by Intel

With the possibility of an impending update to the Moto 360, consumers are getting excited for a new Android Wear device. Well, Fossil took to the stage today at Intel’s Developer Conference to show off three new smartwatches coming this holiday season.

The first is a fitness band type device, and the other two are regular smartwatches. What makes today’s announcement so exciting is that the top-of-the-line smartwatch that we will see from Fossil this Holiday season, will have some Intel internals under the hood.

The specs obviously aren’t known yet, but we do know that the high-dollar item is running Android Wear and is powered by Intel. Battery life, screen density, charging capabilities, and all that jazz were intentionally left out of the presentation today. What wasn’t was that when Fossil showed these off, there was a familiar foe.

That oh-so-controversial flat tire at the bottom of the watch face. After the world saw the Moto 360, we all were wondering why in the world would you make a round faced watch with a flat tire, only to learn that was where some of the sensors were housed. So we can only expect that this is the same reason why Fossil has one on their smartwatch.

Fossil and Intel announced that these devices would be officially revealed and announced in time for the holiday season, so we have a few more months to go before we get to dive into these. But from the looks, Fossil may have found a place in the Android Wear world with these one.

Let us know what you think about Fossil’s upcoming lineup of smartwatches that will be running on Intel processors. Also, let us know what smartwatch you are looking forward to the most for the last portion of 2015.

Deal: Moto 360 with metal band on sale for just $150 from Best Buy ($50 off)

Moto 360 metal

Motorola just recently dropped the Moto 360 down to $149.99 for all leather band models, and metal band versions of the smartwatch saw a price drop to $199.99. If you’ve been waiting for the metal band variant to drop down even further than that, you’re in luck. Right now, you can pick up a Moto 360 with a metal band in both 23 and 18mm variants from Best Buy for just $149.99. Considering that’s $50 less than what Motorola is charging for these devices, this is quite the steal.

Before you buy, keep in mind that a new version of the smartwatch may launch sometime soon. Just a few days ago Motorola posted (and quickly removed) a video featuring a render of the next-generation device. A few days before that, a mystery Motorola smartwatch passed through the FCC, which signals that a new Moto 360 could be on its way sometime soon.

Still, though, I’d personally say $150 is quite the deal for the best looking Android Wear smartwatch on the market. If you’d like some more information on the watch before you buy, feel free to check out our full review to see just what you can get for $150. Head to the link below to pick one up if you’re interested!

It looks like there may be TWO new Moto 360’s coming soon

Lost amongst all the news surrounding the reveal of the name of Google’s next version of Android, Marshmallow, it seems that we may be close to a release of the next generation Moto 360. However, it may not just be one new Moto 360 in the works.

It seems that two different variants have passed through Brazil’s FCC and carry two separate model numbers. The 360S and the 360L are the two different models coming from Motorola, and while the documents don’t give us much information, there is a bit of info that can be found.

Brazil FCC Moto 360

First, the radios that will be included, are found in the documents, as well as the battery capacity. The 360S will have a 270mAh battery, while the 360L will have a 375mAh battery. Both devices will have Bluetooth LE and WiFi b/g/n.

Although these devices passed through Brazil’s FCC, not much else can be said as to whether this is the real deal. According to 9to5Google, a similar document went through Brazil’s in regards to the original Moto 360, which obviously came to fruition.

Both the 360L and the 360S are registered through Motorola, so we can only hope that the accidentally tweeted video of what looked like a new Moto 360, are real. It’s been almost a full year since the Moto 360 hit the scene and folks are clamoring to see what Motorla has up their sleeve next. It will also be interesting to see what improvements are made to the Moto 360, given all the different Android Wear smart watches that have hit the market since the 360 was released.

Is an updated Moto 360 (or 2) an insta-buy for you? Let us know what you would like to see from the next-gen Moto 360, including features and design.

Motorola ‘360S’ and ‘360L’ listed on Anatel in Brazil, could be two Moto 360 models

9to5google-moto-360-new-smartwatch

Motorola recently leaked the next-generation Moto 360 on Twitter, leading us to believe the smartwatch is just over the horizon. Now, it seems that Motorola could offer the new smartwatch in a couple different sizes!

Brazilian telecommunications regular Anatel listed two new Motorola devices for certificaiton: the 360S and the 360L. While these are obviously the new smartwatch models, that’s not the only thing that’s impressive.

Anatel’s documentation says the 360S has a 275mAh battery and the 360L features a 375mAh battery in addition to both sporting the usual Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities.

The original Moto 360 had a 320mAh battery, so we’re not exactly sure what Motorola plans on packing in these new models. The most obvious speculation is that “S” stands for small and “L” stands for “large.”

We’re not exactly sure what this means, other than Motorola could offer better sizing variations with the next Moto 360. What we do know is that Motorola’s next smartwatch is in the works, and we’ll no doubt hear about soon, as we’re quickly coming up on the original Moto 360’s birthday.

Motorola teases new Moto 360 on Twitter, promptly deletes tweet

moto-360-teaser-twitter-video

Motorola today posted a new video to its Twitter account teasing what allegedly is the new Moto 360 smartwatch. The company was quick to pull the tweet from its account, leaving us wondering.

The render from the teased video shows some differences from the current model, such as button placement and better support for swapping out bands. Unfortunately, that’s all we can really tell about this device from the render.

Lenovo’s CEO in an interview said Motorola would be releasing “many new devices” this summer, and considering the Moto 360 was a big hit, we’re almost certain second-generation hardware is on the horizon.

Whose looking forward to a new Moto 360? We know we are! Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Motorola briefly teases the new Moto 360 on Twitter

New Moto 360 AA

Motorola still hasn’t released any official details regarding the next-generation Moto 360 smartwatch, but a big leak from the company earlier today may suggest the new device is coming our way soon. Motorola posted (then quickly deleted) a video on its Twitter account of what appears to be the new Moto 360, giving us a pretty clear look at the device’s new form factor. The video also appeared on the company’s Instagram account, but that video was also deleted soon after it was posted.

The screenshot above shows off the supposed next-gen device, which features a power button that sits at the 2 o’clock position, as opposed to the 3 o’clock placement on the first-gen watch. The device also looks to have newer lugs that will perhaps make it easier to swap out watch straps. Also featured in the new render is the “flat tire” from last year’s model, which is a design element many consumers weren’t happy with the first time around.

The render attached above looks almost identical to the leaked images from Lenovo’s CEO that we saw back in May.

Of course, this video doesn’t confirm anything quite yet, though it’s very suspicious that the company would tweet out a video and delete it right away. What say you? Could this be another look at the new Moto 360?

Motorola smartwatch passes through the FCC, new Moto 360 on the way?

moto 360 ifa aa (9 of 16)

If you haven’t had your fill of new Motorola devices following yesterday’s announcements, a Motorola branded smartwatch has just been spotted passing through the FCC in the US.

The FCC listing clearly states that this new product is a smartwatch, but unfortunately doesn’t give us many details about the hardware and there aren’t any pictures either. Although we can spot that the watch features Bluetooth 3.0 and LE 4.0 technologies, along with WiFi b/g/n support, which is rather standard stuff.

Motorola smartwatch FCC 2015

Our first thoughts immediately jump to a potential successor to Motorola’s Moto 360 smartwatch, but it seems that yesterday would have been the ideal time to launch such a product.

A listing at the FCC suggests that a release is not too far away, not to mention leaks earlier this year and all of the Moto 360 price drops lately. Perhaps we will hear something about Motorola’s new smartwatch at the IFA conference in September?

What is on your wishlist for Motorola’s next smartwatch? A new design, the same circular display, better hardware, or some other features?

New Motorola-branded smart watch passes through the FCC

Moto360__Metal_RGB

Earlier today, an unannounced Motorola smart watch made a pitstop at the United States of America’s official certification authority — the FCC. Information included in the brief filing documentation reveals that we’re more than likely looking at the upcoming successor to the company’s Moto 360 from last year.

Unfortunately, the paperwork doesn’t disclose anything about the internals or the design of the device, but we do know that it is set to pack a variety of different connectivity options, including support for Bluetooth Class 1 (Version 4.0, LE+EDR) and dual-band WiFi (802.11b/802.11g/802.11n).

Moto 360 wireless charger makes its way through the FCC

Moto_360_Event_Stainless_Steel_Bands_01_TA

A new device from Motorola has made its way through the FCC under ID IHDT6UA3, and it seems to be similar to the Moto 360 charger we saw last year.

The FCC notes that this “wireless charger” was used to charge a “Motorola smart watch” at 0, 50, and 90% levels. While we most certainly expect to see a new Moto 360 this year, this wireless charger doesn’t drop many hints regarding that. It was used to charge a “Motorola smart watch,” but that’s quite vague and could even refer to the current Moto 360.

fcc-screenshot

Either way, Motorola has hinted that there is another smartwatch in the works, but we just don’t know when we’ll see it. We could see it at tomorrow’s event, but Motorola seems to be focusing more on their phones this time around. But then again, Motorola says “our relationship status is about to change” and that could indicate some relationship between the company’s new lineup of phones and a smartwatch in the spirit of “our phones never leaving out sides.”

Whatever happens, if a Moto 360 is truly in the works, it shouldn’t be much longer before it makes an appearance.

The livestream for the July 28th Motorola event will go live at 9am ET

It’s all happening now. Motorola has announced on its Twitter account that the livestream for the July 28th Motorola event will go live at 9am ET – the event is expected to feature the announcement of the Moto X 3rd gen and Moto G 3rd gen; secretly, we’re hoping the new Moto 360 is announced too. Throughout all its teases of the event, Motorola has been referring to a change in relationship status i.e. the relationship between a phone and a person and Motorola contends that a “better mobile relationship is on its way”.

Also, we might be reading into their graphic a little too much, but the “O” in the “XOX” looks awfully like a “G” instead, which could be a subtle hint that the new Moto G and Moto X are indeed going to be announced at this event.
