Motorola announces Champagne Gold Moto 360, new slim bands, new watch faces, Moto Body, and more
Motorola just announced a slew of new things regarding the Moto 360. The first is that the rumored Champagne Gold Moto 360 is indeed real. It will go for $329 and be available in time for the holidays.
If you have been waiting to get a Moto 360 with a metal band, today is your lucky day. As of today, you can order the Moto 360 with an aircraft-grade stainless steel band for $299. You will have your choice of light or dark. They will also offer slim versions of these bands for those with smaller wrists for the same price of $299. Look for them around the same time as when the Champagne Gold option becomes available.
If you already own a Moto 360, you will soon be able to order the metal bands separately. They didn’t announce a price, but they did tell us at the launch event that they would run $79. Motorola also announced that they will offer interchangeable stone, black, and cognac leather bands. Plus, DODOcase will offer stitched leather bands in four colors and TYLT is working on colorful silicone bands. We presume they will also offer the new slim bands as an accessory as well.
Now we move onto watch faces. A new update to the Motorola Connect app should hit within the next few days, which will bring new watch faces and customizations. Now you will be able to change the background images as well as the style of tick marks and watch hands. BTW, one of the new watch faces will be the winner of the Moto 360 Design Face-Off.
Last but not least, Moto Body was announced. With Moto Body, you will be able to track your steps, distance, heart rate, and calories. Moto Body will also give you goals based on your activities. This update will arrive with the Motorola Connect update.
If you have any questions, you can join Motorola for an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit tomorrow at 12:30pm to 1:00pm CT.
I think that’s everything. Current and future Moto 360 owners have to be excited.

Motorola Announces more choices for the Moto 360 with new metals, interchangeable bands and More
Not that long ago a set of details made their way out that Motorola had some new Moto 360 offerings on the way. Today the company makes the news official by announcing new metals, new interchangeable bands, and enhanced user experiences.
First up is the new metal band offerings. The new option gives you the choice of the light or dark band that is made from aircraft-grade stainless steel with a tri-link design. The new metal band attached Moto 360 will set you back $299 in either color. Motorola will also be offering a new slim band line that will be available in holidays in Light Metal and Champagne Gold. The Champagne Gold will be slightly more expensive at $329. The slim bands are 18MM where as the new standard meta bands are 23mm.
If you already have a Moto 360, then you won’t need the whole watch. Motorola will soon be offering interchangeable stone, black and cognac leather bands for individual purchase along with the light and dark metal offerings above. They have also partnered with DODOCase who will bring a stitched leather band in 4 colors as well as a set of colorful silicone bands headed out from TYLT.
Beyond physical hardware additions, there will be an update to the Moto Connect app coming shortly as well. The update will bring in the watchface design face-off winner, David Pascual, watchface to your device (pictured above). It will also bring a slew of new watchfaces to pick from and the ability to create your own in the new My Design watch face options. You can customize everything from the background image to the style of tick marks and watch hands.
Also in the Moto Connect update there will be a new Moto Body experience that will track your steps, distance, heart rate and calories. Based on the data collected the app will provide new goals for you to help keep you motivated all day, everyday.

The new metal band offerings are currently available on Motorola.com for purchase today in the light or dark color offerings. the two slim bands in light or champagne are labeled as ‘coming soon’. No specifics on the individual band options if you already have a Moto 360. I assume they will be announced as the become available. With the message being geared toward holiday shoppers, they should start showing up pretty soon.

[VIDEO] Temple Run 2 on Android Wear is remarkably appropriate as a wearable game
Corbin Davenport, who has been known to put things onto Android Wear like Game Boy Color emulators and Windows 95, is at it again with something a little more current. Davenport has most recently put Temple Run 2 on Android Wear and shows it off running on both the Samsung Gear Live and his new Moto 360. Check out the video below:
As you can see, Temple Run 2 actually works quite well as a wearable game, and the only real downfall is perhaps a little delay in swipe recognition and the fact that the Moto 360’s screen cuts off a little bit too much of the screen. Still, besides the fact that its cool to see Android games running on Android Wear (for which Davenport has tutorials for doing), it’s a nice proof of concept for games to be developed for Android Wear assuming that they have a way to cater for the square and circle form factor screens.

Does wearing a Moto 360 give you a better chance at getting laid than other smartwatches?
Earlier today, Motorola CEO Rick Osterloh was interviewed at Code/Mobile by Walt Mossberg. The subject came up about the idea that wearing smartwatches (or any digital watch) guarantees you a life of celibacy. So Walt asked Rick if they considered that when designing the Moto 360. Rick had an interesting answer, of which you can see after the break.

Wear apps on the Moto 360 not displayed correctly when language is set to German after 4.4W.2 update
The 4.4W.2 update started rolling last week, and it appears a pretty big bug was found on the Moto 360 by Albrecht Noll, developer of Android Wear Faces Creator. If the language is set to German, apps are displayed as if the Moto 360 is square, not round. We aren’t sure if any other languages are affected, but we do know that everything is working okay with English.
You can clearly see the issue from the image above and below. The left is when German is selected, and the right is when English is selected. The issue is not only affecting apps, but even the stock launcher as you can see in the image below.
Let’s hope Google gets a fix out soon.

Moto 360 Wireless Charging Dock now in stock and ready to ship from Google Play
The Moto 360 Wireless Charging Dock is now available in the Google Play Store. The item had shown up a few days ago, but could not be ordered. That changed today as Google has the units in stock and ready to ship within 1-2 business days after an order is placed. The list price for the dock is $39.99.
To get the charger working, you will need a USB wall adapter to plug the USB cable in to or you can use your computer. The dock itself is a Qi-based wireless charger that has been molded so the Moto 360 will sit in it comfortably.

Motorola seeding 4.4W.2 update to Moto 360 with loads of improvements
We reported earlier that the LG G Watch is now receiving an update (4.4W.2) so it’s no surprise that the Moto 360 is also receiving the same update. However there are a few things that are specific to the Moto 360 such as that now ambient mode will automatically turn off when your battery hits 15% and a new feature called Mood Lighting. This will adjust how bright the charging screen is based on how bright or dark the room is. The update also includes the same stuff that other Android Wear watches are getting like the ability to connect Bluetooth headsets to the watch itself, store music, and a new UI tweak allowing you to swipe down on the most recent notification card so you can see your entire watch face.
Hit the break for the full change log.
- Smart Battery Saving – When your battery hits 15%, your Moto 360 will turn off ambient mode, so you don’t have to remember to.
- Timely Time Checks – Moto 360 will synchronize the time with your phone more often to make sure it is up to the minute.
- User Interface Tweaks – We observed with consumers that there are many times where you want to use your Moto 360 as truly a classic watch—a beautiful way to see the time. A new gesture now lets you see the full watch face without permanently dismissing a notification. Just touch the top of a notification and swipe down. You’ll see the notification again when you have another high priority notification.
- Mood Lighting – Moto 360 will adjust to the lighting of the room while charging, so that it isn’t too bright or too dark.
- Readying the wires for Bluetooth – There are a couple of under-the-hood enhancements that will pave the way for connecting Bluetooth headsets to the watch.
- Bug Squashing – As usual, bugs are squashed to enhance the overall user experience.
The update is rolling out now and you will get a notification card on your Moto 360 when it’s ready for you to install it. You will need at least 80% battery life. You can also head into Settings > About > System Updates on your Moto 360, but I doubt that will do you any good.
