LG’s Nexus 5X (Bullhead) is spotted on GeekBench with 2GB of RAM
With Google’s September 29th announcement looming large, you could be forgiven for wondering if there was anything left to find out about LG’s Nexus 5X handset other than pricing and availability. Even Amazon India has gotten in to the act. But wait, there’s more news, because the Nexus 5X has been spotted being put through its paces on GeekBench under the code-name ‘Bullhead‘, the details which are after the break.
Other than confirming the Nexus 5X Bullhead specifications yet again, the main takeaway of the benchmark is that 2GB of RAM is also reconfirmed. Whether this means there is only one Nexus 5X model or whether it implies LG is following a similar strategy as it did with its G Series, offering 16GB/2GB & 32GB/3GB variants, only time will tell.
All things considered, the Nexus 5X is shaping up to be the true successor to the 2013 Nexus 5. Perhaps the current Nexus 5 owners who eschewed upgrading to the Nexus 6 because of its size and expense will view the Nexus 5X as a logical upgrade option. Thankfully, there really isn’t much longer to wait until Google reveals all on September 29th.
If you aren’t quite sure about the Nexus 5X, some press renders leaked yesterday that you can view here. The question has to be asked though – which Nexus are you more excited about, LG’s Nexus 5X or Huawei’s Nexus 6P?

The mid-range LG Class gets handled in unboxing video
While we wait for LG to unveil its new flagship smartphone, the V10, on October 1st, it’s also readying a mid-range handset that should reach South Korean carriers later this month. This mid-range handset is LG’s first Android phone to be constructed out of metal and goes under the ‘Class’ moniker. The LG Class is already the subject of an unboxing video, as shown after the break.
Before we get to the unboxing video by UnderKG, let’s take a look at its specifications:
- 5-Inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 resolution
- Quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor @ 1.2GHz
- Adreno 306 GPU
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB Internal storage
- MicroSD card support
- 13MP Rear camera
- 8MP Front camera
- LTE/NFC/Bluetooth 4.1
- 1W Rear speaker
- Battery: 2050mAh
- Dimensions: 142 x 71.8 x 7.4mm
- Weight: 147 grams
The Class continues with LG’s trend of putting the power and volume buttons on the rear panel, while unusually, the (1W) rear speaker is adjacent to the camera.
The LG Class will be available in South Korea for around $339 off-contract in blue-black, silver or gold options. It remains to be seen whether LG will give the Class handset a pass to the rest of the world, or whether it will be detained in South Korea indefinitely. LG teases its latest device, the LG V10, by giving a lady a really bad haircut
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
There has been mounting evidence over the last few weeks that LG is getting a new device ready for launch which utilizes dual displays, though not in a way that you’d expect. The so called LG V10 puts the secondary display above the main display, acting as a ticker display – in essence, it’s the same idea as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge except putting the curved bit above the main display. While none of this has actually be confirmed, LG’s latest teaser suggests that it is indeed about to announce such a device, and they’re willing to ruin a lady’s hair to get the point across:
Okay, so it was probably a wig, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s kind of a weird concept to begin with, especially putting the extra display at the top of the device where it’s harder to get to – we’ll hold our full judgement till LG announces the device however. LG has booked the event for the 1st of October, so we should be seeing exactly what LG has in store for us in just under a week.

The Class is LG’s first attempt at a metal-clad smartphone and features a 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and a 2.5D glass panel on top to increase responsiveness. Under the hood, the handset is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded further using a microSD card.
On the back, there’s a 13MP rear camera which LG claim has the premium imaging sensor found in its flagship devices, while the front sports an 8MP selfie camera with a range of features including Gesture Interval Shot, which lets you raise your hand and make a fist in front of the camera to take a selfie. The back also comes with the power and volume keys underneath the camera, like LG’s other handsets, such as the LG G4.
Connectivity wise, the LG Class also comes with LTE, NFC and Bluetooth 4.1. The LG Class measures 142 x 71.8 x 7.4mm, while at 147 grams weight, it’s certainly manageable in the hand. Like other metal-clad devices, the LG Class has a non-removable battery and the question remains as to whether the 2,050 mAh battery is large enough for normal usage.
What do you think of the LG Class and do you want to see it launch outside of Korea (where it’ll set you back $339 before subsidies)? Let us know your views in the comments below guys!
LG teases phone with secondary display ahead of October event
Back in August, a filing at China’s FCC counterpart (TENAA) revealed one of LG’s upcoming devices: one that apparently features a secondary display on top, next to its camera. Now, the South Korean company has released a video teaser indicating that the device will be officially launched on October 1st, 2015. The video doesn’t give out any details about the device, other than giving a model asymmetrical bangs that match the camera-secondary screen combo at the top part of the display. Evleaks called it the LG V10 when the images above were leaked and likened its secondary display to that of the Samsung Note Edge’s, which shows app icons and extra details, depending on the open application. We’ll know for sure whether it really does resemble the Note Edge’s ticker in a few days’ time.

LG gives us a glimpse of its upcoming cutting edge smartphone

LG is all set to hold its next big event in New York City this coming October 1st. Now we just have to figure out what the announcement is all about. All rumors point towards LG unveiling a new flagship handset, and the latest video seems to suggest said speculations are correct. Let’s take a look at it.
As you can see, this cinematic teaser doesn’t quite tell us much. It shows a lady destroying her bangs by making a cut through her stylish hair. The surprise arises when the trim’s outline suddenly turns into a part of a phone, displaying what looks like a couple camera lenses and a ticker notification display.
Those who have been following the latest LG rumors will find this image very familiar. This is because it closely resembles the front-facing sensors we have seen on the rumored LG V10. Which was previously known as the LG G Note, and some even believed it could be part of the G Pro series. Regardless of its name or device family, we have enough evidence to believe this is the phone LG will be unveiling at this event.

Rumored specs include a Snapdragon 808 CPU, a 5.7-inch QHD display, 3 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage, a 16 MP rear-facing camera, a 5 MP front shooter, a removable battery and microSD support (those last two are huge for some of you).
Needless to say, it will be a powerful handset, but its lure lies in other areas. Of course, there will be those dual cameras, as well as the ticker display that sits right next to it, above the main display. This tiny display is said to be for shortcuts and notifications.

Overall, it looks like an LG G4 with a few extra bells and whistles… which sounds amazing! We will keep our eyes open for more details to hit the inter webs, at least until the official announcement comes around. How many of you are interested on the LG V10 (or whatever it will be called)?
LG teaser video could hint at the LG V10
All eyes will be on HTC and Google next Tuesday, but they are not the only companies planning big announcements next week. On Thursday, October 1st, LG will be holding their own event. LG has been mum about what to expect, but a few leaks suggest at least one of the announcements could be for the LG V10 smartphone with its secondary “ticker” display.
Without giving away any information about the device, LG has release a short teaser video via YouTube for something “coming soon” next week. In the video, a brunette woman is pictured and a few seconds in she clips off a lock of hair. This gives her bangs a two-dimensional look and reveals one of her eyes. So by taking off a little bit at the top, she has created a new view for herself. Is it a subtle hint that the LG V10 will be announced?
Check out the video below and let us know if you have any thoughts about what it may be hinting at.

Leaked press renders of the Nexus 5X show the device off in white, black, and the reported mint color
Yesterday we reported on images of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P retail packaging along with a high resolution press render of the Nexus 6P. And now today, Android Police got their hands on a press render of the LG Nexus 5X, and it’s definitely much more stylish than the Huawei Nexus 6P with the giant black bar on the back of the device.
As you can see (pictured above) the Nexus 5X has what seems to be two front-facing speakers on the front. Around the back, you can see the rumored fingerprint scanner right above a camera that seems to stick out of the device a bit more than normal.
Android Police was also able to get a press render of the device in it’s three color options as well:
There’s been many different variations of rumored specs that the Nexus 5X will sport, with Amazon even accidentally leaking some alleged details today, too. One thing’s for sure, heading into Google’s event in San Francisco next week, there aren’t going to be many surprises.

Huawei Nexus 6P shows up in white, black, silver, and gold

Things have gotten crazy this week with tons of new information surrounding the rumored LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P, which are both expected to be unveiled next week. And now today, there’s been an additional leak outing the colors the Huawei Nexus 6P will be available in.
This new press render comes by way of Android Police, not long after leaking the full image of the device yesterday.
The devices will be available in white, black, silver, and gold, according to the press render pictured above. The image above is interested–there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between the white and silver option, and what is supposed to be gold takes on more of what seems to be a brown-ish hue. Of course, they’ll no doubt look a lot different in real life as opposed to images on the screen.
I’ll be honest, that black bar on the Nexus 6P looked quite ugly at first, but it doesn’t look too bad on the black and gold variants. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Rumored specs for LG G5 point to custom camera sensor
The fall 2015 season is just rolling around along with a host of new phones hitting the market or about to be announced for the upcoming holiday shopping season. However, the rumor mill is firmly focused on next year’s flagship devices. One of those will surely be the LG G5 and sources are now sharing some early information about specs for LG’s next high end device.
Probably the most interesting item to surface regarding the LG G5 is that it will be equipped with a new 20MP, 1/2-inch camera sensor produced by Sony. That will be a bump in pixels from the current 16MP camera that comes in the LG G4. Sources indicate that the sensor will not be one of Sony’s mass produced units that are available for other manufacturers. Instead, Sony will be producing this customer sensor just for LG to use in its smartphones.
The other spec revealed in this latest leak is that the LG G5 will use a Snapdragon 820 chip. The use of the Snapdragon 820 should not be a surprise as it appears many manufacturers are planning to use the chip in their flagship devices in 2016. Qualcomm has to be pleased after the fiasco with the 810 and potential overheating problems.
What other hardware would you like to see LG add to or improve in the G5?
