LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE reaches the USA through Verizon and AT&T

We first laid eyes and put our geeky little hands all over the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE last October 1st, during the LG V10 announcement. We knew right away this thing was special. Not only does it inherit the great looks and superior performance we have previously seen in other LG wearables, but this one happened to be a first-of-a-kind.
It is currently the only Android Wear Smartwatch to feature cellular connectivity, something Google was very proud to talk about today. This means you don’t have to rely on Bluetooth or WiFi anymore. Just leave your phone at home and stay connected through your LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE.

So, when can you get it? LG has just shared the good news; those of us in the USA and Korea will not have to wait much longer. In fact, AT&T is starting to ship it tomorrow, with online availability now open. If you’d rather see it first-hand, you will have to wait until November 13th, when AT&T promises the device is to reach its stores. But then again, that is only a couple days away!
AT&T’s prices are set at $199.99 on a 2-year contract, while buying it off-contract will cost you $299. Which, by the way, just so happens to be better than Verizon‘s deal!
Big Red will start pre-orders on this smartwatch starting November 12th, and it will be reaching stores November 19th. It is the prices Verizon is setting that really have us scratching our heads, though. They are selling LG’s wearable for $449.99 on a 2-year contract or $499.99 without signing any documents. What a way to compete, Verizon.

But regardless of where you buy it, you can be sure the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE (am I the only one who hates long device names?!) will be sure to satisfy your techie needs. It comes with a Snapdragon 400 processor, 768 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, a 1.38-inch 480x480p P-OLED screen and a 570 mAh battery.
Are you convinced?
Android Wear no longer limited to Bluetooth and WiFi; cellular support on board

Android Wear works amazingly as a secondary device, but these wearables have never been self-sufficient enough. It’s the main reason why options like the Samsung Gear S and Omate TrueSmart were so enticing to some of you; these things can run on their own. But with the release of the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, Google takes things to another level.
This happens to be the first of a new breed of Android Wear products that will need no connection to WiFi or Bluetooth. Just leave your phone at home, because Android Wear can now handle cellular connectivity, which allows it to use data, as well as sending or receiving both calls and texts. Of course, these is aside from all the usual Android Wear features.
Mainly, the Search Giant wants you to know LG’s option won’t be the only one coming.

Google doesn’t have much else to say about the topic, but this is actually pretty huge news. It’s something we have been begging for, as taking your phone everywhere is not always convenient. I would love to go on my crazy adventures without having to worry about taking my phone with me, for example. But there are better advantages to this new feature than my silly weekend craze.
Workout clothes happen to be quite limited in terms of pockets and storage. Imagine being able to leave to the gym or take your morning jog without carrying around a bulky phone? These are only a couple scenarios – the point here is that we are really looking forward to seeing these new cellular-connected Android Wear smartwatches taking off. Are you thinking of buying one?
Sprint is offering $200 trade-in credit to put towards the LG G4
If you’re in the market for an LG G4 and don’t mind switching to Sprint’s Easy Pay program, then you may want to listen up. Earlier today, the operator launched its latest trade-in scheme. All you have to do is send in a perfectly functioning smartphone in good condition, and you will receive a minimum of $200 credit towards the G4.
To get in on the trade-in action, simply head over to sprint.com/buyback and enter the promo code 200LG. You’ll then receive instructions on how to send in your old smartphone. Once it’s been received and evaluated by Sprint, they will provide you with a quote. If you’re happy, click Accept and the store credit will be added to your account. If not, hit Decline and it will be returned to you.
Just in case you need a refresher on its specifications, the G4 is a beast of a device packing a 5.5-inch qHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 octa-core processor, an Adreno 418 GPU, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP rear-facing camera, an 8MP front-facing shooter and a 3,000mAh removable battery.

Android Wear can switch to LTE, works without your smartphone
Your next (or first) Android wearable needs not for Bluetooth or Wifi. Android Wear’s cellular support has finally arrived, just as the first compatible watch starts to ship. LG’s Watch Urbane 2nd Edition crams an LTE radio beneath its circular 480 x 480 screen, with models that’ll work on AT&T and Verizon — carriers that are both selling the watch in the US this week.

Android Wear gets cellular connectivity, here comes LG’s Watch Urbane 2 LTE
Every Android Wear device released up until now has required a Bluetooth and WiFi connection to operate. When LG announced the Watch Urbane 2 LTE in September, people awaited Google’s immediate announcement that Android Wear could support smartwatches with ceullar connectivity. Without that support, LG’s newest smartwatch would be pointless. But Google never announced Android Wear’s official support for cellular connective. Both companies decided that tonight, oddly, is the right time to make a move.
Google’s platform for smartwatches now officially supports cellular connectivity while LG is ready to sell its Watch Urbane 2 LTE in the United States and Korea.
Here’s Peter Ludwig, Product Manager of Android Wear, commenting on the usefulness of cellular connectivity:
“With calling, messaging, and thousands of apps right on your wrist, you’ll always be able to stay in touch and on track. Say goodbye to bulky pockets and awkward armbands: cellular support for Android Wear lets you wear what you want.”
The Watch Urbane 2 LTE has a P-OLED display with 480×480 resolution, a built-in heart rate monitor, and a fancy cellular radio that allows you to use the smartwatch without a Bluetooth or WiFi connection nearby. This is the most powerful Android Wear device yet; however, battery life could be rough if the cellular radio gets demanding.
Starting right now, you can purchase the Watch Urbane 2 LTE online from AT&T. The carrier’s stores will join in selling the smartwatch on November 13. Verizon, on the other hand, will begin accepting just pre-orders on November 12 and has not named a date for when customers can expect to see their Watch Urbane 2 LTE ship. AT&T’s two-year contract price on the smartwatch is $199, but forgoing that type of commitment raises its price to $299. Verizon will likely follow that same pricing or maybe even hike it a bit.

Xiaomi is interested in LG’s OLED panels for future handsets
We’re seeing a move towards Amoled display panels among many smartphone manufacturers. A new report suggests that Chinese manufacturer, Xiamoi, is interested in LG’s OLED panels for its future handsets.
Xiamoi might be next in line for OLED panels. The company is in contact yet again with LG trying to seal a deal on OLED panels, which could be produced in time for 2016. The deal will give LG some needed business and provide OLED displays for Xiamoi, which can be used on next year’s handsets. This would make a nice improvement to Xiamoi’s Mi lineup. One could expect to see the new display type on some of Xiamoi’s future smartphones as early as the second quarter of 2016. We’ll let you know when the deal is made official.

LG G4 to get a White Gold colored variant in Korea

Depending on your preferred company of choice, proper priority and device diplomacy may be extended to either (a) the place/s any given product is most popular in, or (b) a place where the manufacturer wants to “test the waters”, or (c) the manufacturer’s home territory. For those inclined to support LG or Samsung sublime, South Korea is typically home to the best in show. Indeed the country has seen products like the Urbane LTE or Galaxy Round. This time however, it’s just a color variant that’s sound.
LG has announced it will be releasing a White Gold edition of its flagship G4. The device, which is targeting women and the younger crowd according to the OEM, features a white front and back, with a gold colored plastic frame. The device will retail for 699,600 Won ($577). Unlike last year which saw LG release a Korea-only G3 with slightly higher specs, this offering has the exact same internals as the “standard” G4.

There is no word as-of-yet regarding an international release of the White Gold G4 color variant, however given that the hardware itself is now getting relatively “long in the tooth” it wouldn’t be surprising if the stellar shade is strictly a Korean-only affair. For those that have been keeping tabs, LG has also released a black leather variant of its new V10, however the device is currently only available in Asia.
Those hoping for some real gold in their LG ware might want to save up for the Luxe-uriously expensive Urbane limited edition.
