LG G Flex 2 on its way and it has an ace up its sleeve

You can say what you want regarding LG’s G Flex smartphone, but it was one of a kind. Curved phablet with a self-healing plastic certainly left a mark in smartphone business since its launch. The device maybe didn’t sell in some astronomic numbers, but it certainly brought something new to the table.
Truth be told the G Flex was/is a prototype phone, we can all agree on that. Rumors have began regarding G Flex’ follow-up, LG G Flex 2. According to @evleaks the phone is expected mid-Q1 2015 and it is expected to sport a feature even more unique than self-healing plastic. Well, they got our attention for sure. What could this feature be? I personally have no idea, I could list futuristic stuff that comes to mind but I’d probably be way off.

What do you think that feature will be? While we wait on some more news regarding LG G Flex 2, feel free to check out our review of the G Flex and LG’s awful commercial for the said phone.

LG 64-bit handset will be one of the first in Android Silver line of Devices
Yesterday, we reported that the Nexus line of devices would likely be terminated in favour of a line of devices to be known as Android Silver. This has been the second such assertion in recent months, and to help put the nails in the coffin, @evleaks has yet again leaked out some information that likely suggests the start of the Android Silver devices. @evleaks posted earlier today saying that a LG 64-bit handset will be one of the first in Android Silver which would be carried by U.S. carrier, Sprint, and reiterated again that there will be no Nexus 6.
This LG handset would be running a Qualcomm MSM8994 chipset processor, which we know as Qualcomm’s 64-bit, octa-core mobile processor. It looks like Android Silver is going to be loosely based on the Nexus line, at the very least, as the continuation of LG’s services as a manufacturer suggests that this be more of a rebranding, or rethinking, of the Nexus devices. What’s also interesting is that @evleaks says that the LG handset in question would be a “successor to the Nexus 6 initiative, suggesting perhaps that the Nexus 6 had been previously worked on (which would make a lot of sense given recent rumours) but LG has since diverted development energy over to this new Android Silver handset.
It’s all very intriguing stuff at this point, so we hope we get a clearer picture of how this is going to shake out sooner rather than later. What do you think about a new LG 64-bit Android Silver device? Let us know your thoughts about Android Silver in the comments below.

LG G3 leaks in gold and white

LG G3 will be announced in just 10 days in London and it’s leaking like crazy. We’ve already seen it’s back plates, front and back in gold, a teaser video by LG, three color renders, and it’s appeared in the wild rockin’ a snap cover.
This time we have some fresh leaks of it in white and gold, courtesy of @evleaks. After the phone has been leaked so many times it’s hard to argue it won’t look like it. This is the LG G3 that will be announced in 10 days. It is expected to sport a Snapdragon 805 chip along with 3GB of RAM and a 13MP OIS+ camera. On the front we expect to see a 5.5″ 2560 x 1440 QHD display and a 3,200mAh battery is also rumored.
We can’t wait the announcement of LG’s new flagship even though we basically know all about. Oh well, we know how will it look the specifications are just a guess based on rumors. Are you excited for this phone?

LG G Flex 2 is being touted for a mid-Q1 release in 2015
The LG G Flex turned out to be much more than just an exercise in science; with one of the first commercial uses of flexible display technology in smartphones and a self-healing back cover, the G Flex surprised everyone with how intriguing it was and the bright future for flexible displays that it represented. We were always wondering if LG would follow up on the device, and that answer has today been answered by none other than @evleaks himself who has suggested that the follow-up device, the LG G Flex 2, is coming and will be released in mid-Q1 in 2015.

Furthermore, @evleaks suggests that the G Flex 2 will have a feature that is even more special than the self-healing technology of the original G Flex. Should it come in the same screen size as the G Flex, maybe it will come with a mast and you will be able to use its 6-inch screen as a raft. Whatever it is, based on LG’s previous surprising scientific prowess, it’s sure to be mind boggling; Q1 2015 can’t come soon enough.
Did you like the original LG G Flex? And what do you think about it being succeeded by the LG G Flex 2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

LG G3 and Quick Cover seen in public

Whilst the LG G3 isn’t officially released, we’ve seen many rumours surrounding the device, and even a teaser from LG to confirm the existence of the device, but as we build up to the official release on May 27th, the device has been seen out in the wild.
Not only is the device seen in the above picture, but also the associated Quick Cover accessory, and boy does it look like a big device – it seems that rumoured 5.5-inch qHD screen probably wasn’t just a rumour after all.

LG’s Lifeband Touch and Heart Rate earphones to arrive on May 18th
Though the internet was trolled recently with Apple’s “biometric” earpods, LG’s fitness-oriented Heart Rate earphones and Lifeband Touch are no joke. In fact, they’re finally set to arrive next week in three sizes, after being outed by various rumor sites and, of course, LG itself during CES 2014. The LifeBand looks much like we saw it then and most closely resembles Nike’s Fuelband, though it has similar functionality to Samsung’s Gear Fit and the FitBit Force. Activated with a twist of the wrist, it has a full-touch OLED display, 90mAh battery and a triple-axis accelerometer and altimeter. Those will let you track your exploits via Android or iOS apps like MyFitnessPal or Runkeeper, along with LG’s own fitness app. You’ll also see (and feel) incoming calls and messages, and can control music using the touch display.
For listening to said music there are the Heart Rate earphones, which also function as an honest-to-god heart rate monitor by measuring blood flow in the ear. They can be used in tandem with the Lifeband Touch or a compatible smartphone using the included Bluetooth medallion. That’ll let you do hands-free calling and if paired with LG’s upcoming Fitness app, give audible, real time updates about your heart rate and VO2 max levels. As for the audio quality itself, LG says it’s “excellent,” but we’ll need to judge that for ourselves once we get our hands on it. The HeartRate earphones and Lifeband Touch will roll out in the US on May 18th (Asia and Europe will follow) with pricing to be announced later. Hopefully, they’ll have a new G watch and G3 handset joining them shortly thereafter.

LG released a new teaser video for LG G3

It seems LG really loves teaser videos, just yesterday they released a short video showing of their upcoming LG G Watch and today we’re getting the same treatment for their upcoming flagship, LG G3.
LG G3 is going to have some fierce competition when it’s finally announced, the likes of Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8), Sony Xperia Z2 and some other flagships that are already available. Regarding the specifications, LG G3 is rumored to sport a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 13MP OIS+ camera, you can find more details here.
The video itself is kind of intense, LG is showing of parts of the phone in quick flashes in a rather dark setting. We can see that the device will be curved towards the edges and that leaks so far have been rather accurate as far as the design goes. LG also uses a “Simple is the New Smart” tagline in the video.
LG G3 will be announced May 27 in London, as it says in the video itself.

If LG’s working on a Windows Phone 8 handset, this is what it’ll look like
A picture is worth a thousand words, which is good, because the above image is all we’ve got. The gadget industry’s person-in-the-know, evleaks, has posted what purports to be a shot of the LG Uni8, the company’s first Windows Phone 8 device. The Uni8 would also be the first LG Windows phone since 2010, back in the days of the Optimus 7 and AT&T’s Quantum. Given that the platform is struggling in the US and Asia, not to mention Microsoft’s newly-minted purchase of Nokia, it seems an odd time for LG to leap back into the fold — not that we’re complaining, mind.

LG EXPANDS TABLET OPTIONS WITH NEW G PAD SERIES MODELS
Three New Tablets Satisfy Consumer Demand for More Choices to Fit Their Lifestyles
SEOUL, May 12, 2014 — LGElectronics (LG) is adding three new tablets to its G Pad series to offer more options for tablet users. The new G Pad devices — G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1 — will be unveiled at the MedPI 2014, one of the biggest IT/Tech trade show in Europe, taking place in Monaco from May 13-16. LG’s extended tablet portfolio, which also includes the well-received G Pad 8.3, will significantly expand LG’s footprint in the tablet market.
“Customers tell us that they want a wider range of devices that offer sizable screens without compromising portability,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Unlike smartphones, tablets are not one size fits all. So we designed the G Pad Series for a diverse target audience, some who prioritize portability while others want the best multimedia experience possible. G Pad delivers on all counts.”
Highlights of LG’s new G Pad Series tablets are:
● G Pad 7.0 : Designed to be held in one hand, LG’s smallest tablet is a non-the-go entertainment hub that delivers both portability and power. ● G Pad 8.0 : With its 8-inch display, LG’s mid-sized tablet offer san immersive multimedia experience and smooth multitasking. ● G Pad 10.1 : With the largest display and battery, LG’s 10.1-inch tablet provides endless hours of entertainment and fun.
The latest G Pad tablets will also include LG’s proprietary UX features such as QPair 2.0 and Knock CodeTM. With an updated version of QPair, which was first introduced on G Pad 8.3, users can effortlessly connect to their Android-powered smartphones via Bluetooth to receive notifications of calls and messages and now be able to respond directly from the G Pad. What’s more, Knock Code™ enables users to power on and unlock their LG smartphones in one easy step by entering a personalized “knock” pattern on the smartphone’s display. Knock Code™ offers convenience and greater security as the knock pattern can be entered anywhere on the screen in any size — with the display on or off — using a personalized sequence of two to eight taps for more than 80,000 possible combinations.
Additional details of LG’s new G Pad tablets including specifications and availability will be announced locally in the weeks ahead.
