AT&T announces LG G Vista for August 22

The 5.7-inch phone will be $50 with a contract, $355 outright AT&T on Friday announced the upcoming availability of the LG G Vista. Featuring a 5.7-inch HD display and 8-megapixel rear camera, the smartphone is a lesser-powered take on the flagship G3 experience. Powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat with LG software enhancements, the G Vista… Read more »

LG’s G3 A is a stripped-down model of its flagship smartphone
LG has to be pleased by the overall reception to the G3, from press and consumers alike. That said, perhaps in an effort to keep the momentum going, the electronics company just launched the G3 A, a smaller and slightly lower-specced version of its popular flagship handset, the G3. This isn’t to say LG’s new, 5.2-inch G3 A, which will be available in South Korea through SK telecom, is by any means a dud, as it does sport some pretty good features of its own. The smartphone comes with a 1080p screen, a Snapdragon 800 processor (2.6GHz) alongside 2GB RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, Android KitKat and, best of all, the same 13-megapixel camera found on the G3. Of course, introducing a different model to the G3 family is nothing novel to LG — the company announced the G3 Beat recently and, apparently, there’s also a G3 Stylus on the way.

When it comes to Android, people often end up thinking about smartphones from Samsung, but there’s another big Asian manufacturer that we are missing. 2014 was probably the best year for LG so far, as it is reported by Kiwoom Securities and Korea Investment that LG is expected to sell roughly 60 million smartphones in sales this… Read more »

LG G Watch charging cradles now on the Play Store for $20
I am one of those people who has to have a way to charge my devices in as many places as possible. This is pretty simple to achieve when it is a phone or tablet, but with the more recent Android Wear devices a special cradle is needed. The LG G Watch is one of those devices that has a specific charging dock to power up your watch. If you are looking for a spare, replacement, or just need one for the office as well as at home, you will be happy to know that they have just become available in the Play Store.
The charging cradle will set you back $19.99 plus tax and other fees based on your state and such. At the time of posting they state it will eave the warehouse in 1 – 2 business days. Let’s see if Samsung follows LG’s lead and gets one on the Play Store as well.
Head to the Play Store to get the LG G Watch Charging Cradle ordered.

LG G3 Stylus ‘officially’ leaked in LG G3 Beat video

In a newly released advertisement for the G3 Beat LG shows a trio of smart phones which make up the G3 family at the end of the video. The surprising news is the appearance of a G3 Stylus which has yet to be announced by LG. The 5.5 inch G3 has already been available to users for… Read more »

LG may soon imitate Samsung’s Galaxy Note with the G3 Stylus
LG hasn’t finished with new G3 variants yet, judging by a promotional video (below). It appears that a G3 Stylus will soon join the flagship Quad HD G3 and its much smaller and lesser equipped sibling, the 4.7-inch G3 Beat. There’s not much to go on other than the stylus, though it looks even bigger than the 5.5-inch G3. Don’t count on an Optimus Vu resurrection, though — a previous UA profile leak detailed an LG Stylus with a qHD 960 x 540 screen, which would make it similar to the new G Vista for Verizon. If that proves accurate (and it may well not be), the new handset would be less Galaxy Note 3 and more Galaxy Note 3 Neo. Meanwhile, Samsung’s latest stylus-equipped Galaxy Note 4 device is expected soon with a 2,560 x 1,440 screen — that’s “QHD” with a capital “Q.”

AT&T announces LG G Pad 7.0 LTE for release later this Week
AT&T has announced that the LG G Pad 7.0 LTE tablet will be making its debut on the carrier on August 8th. AT&T has the tablet set up at $149.00 with a typical two-year contract or $12.50 a month on AT&T’s Next program. If you are looking to buy one out right you will be looking at $250. The release info also mentions that you can get the tablet for $0.99 if you bundle it with the purchase of a LG G2, LG G3 or LG G Flex.
Official LG G Pad 7.0 Specs:
- 7-inch 1280 x 800 IPS display

AT&T will sell the G Pad 7.0 for 99 cents — if you buy an LG phone to go with it
We can’t say for sure how great a tablet the new LG G Pad 7.0 is — we haven’t had the chance to try it out yet. But if you were already planning on buying the G3 smartphone on AT&T, you may as well pick up the G Pad too: Starting on Friday, Ma Bell will throw in the tablet for just 99 cents extra. Now, before you get too excited, there is of course a catch. To qualify for that insane 99-cent price, you’ll have to purchase either the G3, G Flex or last-generation G2, and you’ll need to either sign a new two-year service agreement or renew your contract through AT&T’s “Next” early upgrade plan. Again, you’d have to really want one of these phones — and you’d also have to really like AT&T.
If perchance you don’t want one of those handsets, you can also get the tablet for $150 with a two-year contract, or for $12.50 a month for 20 months, with no money down up front. You could even buy it contract-free for $250, but at that point, we’d encourage you to take a closer look at the specs. For $250, you get an Android KitKat tablet with a 1,280 x 800 screen, 5-megapixel camera and quad-core processor. That’s not bad, per se, but for the same price or less you can find similar alternatives, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0; that’s going for $170 (down from $200), with mostly the same specs, save for a lower-res camera. That’s not to say you shouldn’t buy the G Pad — just that you should do your homework first.

You can now try Android L on the LG Optimus G, the second port to a non-Nexus Device
The collective Android community’s jaw dropped when Android L was shown off at Google I/O 2014 and since then, only a select few devices, namely the Nexus devices (and unofficially, the HTC One M7) have had a taste of what Android’s next version is going to feel like. You can now add the LG Optimus G to that very short list as it becomes only the second non-Nexus device to receive a ‘working’ port of the Android L Developer Preview. Thanks to a bunch of clever people over at XDA, you can now install the custom ROM on your device; for the file and installation instructions, you can visit the original forum post below:
Naturally, there are still a few bugs and issues to be figured out: NFC isn’t working and the camera isn’t working exactly as intended. There are also apparently some heat issues, but there are workarounds that hopefully lessen the impact of the issue. All the same, if you have an LG Optimus G, this is a perfect opportunity to try something that a large proportion of the Android community has yet to try, so get on it.
If you could see Android L on another device next, what device would it be? Let us know your pick in the comments below.
